Had my experia 1 for a month now and its definitely the best experia that sony have made. But for life of me cannot understand why they are not promoting it more! all i hear from friends is how good samsung, Huawei, iphones are and they have better cameras? All i say is you don't know how to use and get the best out of them but people like just to press the shutter and let the phone do the work. Hope these two phones take off and bring Sony back to top of the smartphone market but alas think that will not happen. Love and watch all your videos keep the good work up.
Their is nothing wrong if people just want to press shutter and get amazed by seeing oversharpned oversaturated photo. Not everyone can learn photography.

( Today after 5 months of use from 82% to 17 I got 3:40 h SOT playing Real racing 3 ) The biggest withdraw is the android system. For some reasons there are a lot of things that needs to be re-done. And mine is crashing like shit for some reason.. Camera menu is slow AF I'm not kidding. Playing PUBG can make the phone extremely hot. But at least the game is not crashing even when I'm playing the game on max settings. Screen - the best Oled screen ..(for me even better then iphones oleds ..) Sound quality is great. My camera bum corner is starting to peel of it's black color for some reason ( i use my phone most of the time without case so there is that to) and for some reason this phone is taking drops like it's nothing ( I have drop it a lot without a case and it's still in one place) o there is micro searches on the screen but there are only visible on direct sunlight. 7/10 for a flagshup phone .
Been a sony fan for years but the last phone i had from them, xz premium let me down big time, was missing a big amount of software features and they actually removed some of them with updates, funny thing is you can find all of them on cheap xiaomi phones, night light, double tap to wake/sleep, dark mode, gestures and so on. Not to mention the crappy camera night mode, low volume in the headphones and speakers, low flashlight for some weird reason, shitty weather app, questionable sar ratings and a lot more weird decisions they make. A good reliable phone nonetheless but i wont ever pay 500 euros for a phone that is missing some basic stuff that should make it a "smart-phone" is the firstplace. Currently own a redmi k20 pro and really pleased with it.
So glad you made this video. I was looking at the xperia 5 as a photo and video alternative than my iPhone7plus especially when I heard about cinema pro, but after this, this is a good all in one replacement because of all the extra features.
I am using sony xperia X for almost 3 years ...still loving this phone and works fine as i use this as like ,the first day i brought...have give my phone trying time like dropping this phone lot many time...still it works fine. One time it fall from my bike petrol tank cover and i .. thought it's gone but nothing happened. I totally love this brand sony.i will definitely goback to buy sony phone again ,but not now after some more years. This going to last still few more years . I recommend all to buy Sony. My 100% recommendations and worth every penny on your Sony device.

Always love Sony Experia line of camera. I tried Z3 and Z5 back in the days and hardware and design is fabulous. But Android back then wasn’t as reliable as today, looking forward to getting Experia 5 as my next phone
Love these Xperias, but the price is just refusing to come down :( The 1 has been out for over 6 months, and still the same 950€ as at launch. On the other hand, one can buy an S10+ for significantly cheaper already, which has a much larger battery too.
Sony did actually remove the RAM management in the camera, so it actually cannot do Super Slo-mo like its bigger sibling. But it seems like Xperia 5 do have slightly better software for the cameras.
My dream phone :D even if I'm not suited to 21:9 screen usage. But I own Sony smartphone for years and they're very good with updates, finally a really powerful camera phone. :) Also during sales Xperia 1 was round 750€ where the Xperia 5 around 799, crazy market!

I saved a lot of money from sony, it's durable. Since 2007-2018 I only have 4 phones. Even my Xperia Active was still in good condition, I just bought the M2 Aqua so that I could play Clash of Clans.LOLS! I love Sony. 😊❤️

Sony marketing usually features huge price tag for same technology which keeps potential customers even considering this gem . Sony need to first establish itself to be a leader that means outsell samsung in Android world. Sony are happy with selling camera parts to everyone smartphone manufacturer .
Not really just the screen mate. The main sensor of this phone also is not same as xperia 1. Xperia 1 use imx445 with DRAM while xperia 5 use imx563 no DRAM. Thats why xperia 5 cant do super slowmo. It only can do 120fps at 720p
@@ES-qy2ju Agree. Color accuracy and profile of pictures taken with my Xperia 1 (similar to Xperia 5) is quite near to my Alpha camera and very usable in post. My wife has an Iphone and pictures are not neutral and generally come out with less dynamic range - i.e. less suitable for edit in post. I surely prefer the Sony. Another difference is how the Sony treats dark scenes - on the Sony dark is actually kept dark/black in Auto mode compared to a more artificial/grey look on the Iphone. Noise is also quite low. It gives a much more realistic photo with the ambience of night. If you want you can still shoot in manual mode and set the shutter speed high (up to 30 sec.) + high ISO to make night look like day. I also like that it reserves HDR only for clearly back lighted photos.

I have the Huawi (spl?) p20 and I don't like the camera. Even with the AI off it does this over sharpening/ HRD effect that I can't stand. The Sony might be worth checking out. Glad I saw this.

Bummer. As research to replace my Samsung Galaxy S9+ I was interested in the Sony Xperia 5. I like the smaller and lighter phone, and especially like the flat screen without the curved edge of the Galaxy. However I was sad to see the Xperia 5 does not have a headphone jack. That's a show stopper for me.

I was a bit disappointed to find that, after I had bought mine. But I think your right, that the main camera, is possibly a little better.

Better, the iPhone tends to saturate warm hues and flatten skin tones with the HDR
