Mike! I have a 2004 model year Kubota bx23. The 60 inch mower deck on mine weighs 250 lbs. Melissa: You did that lift so well that I showed the video to one of my spinal patients today!!!👏👏👏
48VAC is right, rotate scalp wheels 90°. Also pick up a 5th Wheel latch puller at a truck stop. Excellent to drag things around without bending over. Deck weights about 250lbs. If the FEL is attached you can make it easier by lifting the tractor a bit.
The fireworks are cancelled here around Bedford, PA too. There is no one that goes out and puts on their own shows like you do either. I had to remove the mower deck from my Mom's Kubota and replace the cutting blades and reinstall the deck. I put my floor jack under the front so after the deck was disconnected, I just jacked the tractor up to provide more clearance to slide the deck out and back in.
If you get a 250 gallon tank and fill it in the summer then when winter comes you won’t have the winter additives in the fuel and you will have to add some on each tractor fill up. Get a tank big enough for each season and avoid the worry of fuel gelling up in your tank.
Glad to hear you are a Harbor Freight guy too. You motivated me to get their 5 ton electric splitter. Works great on 10 inch or less rounds (seasoned first). I fill my Tacoma with mostly red oak here in NC for sixty bucks. I like it smaller, so I split it right off my tailgate. 1.75 cords seasoning now. One of my saddest days of the year......last fire in my fireplace. Take care.
Mike, I am glad that you are happy with your new Kubota. That is pretty evident by your statement "That's all there is to it". I don't know what other tractors you may have looked at before you bought the Kubota, but I hope you checked out the John Deere. In the amount of time that you took off the bracket from the front of the deck, the John Deere 1025r would have the deck totally removed and you could have been on your way to washing your tractor a lot sooner. Thanks for sharing.
Greetings from MidMo. Nice morning out for sitting on the screened porch and watching OWTM. Surprisingly not too sore today after a marathon flowerbed cleanout yesterday. Removed some overgrown wild day lilies and thinned some overgrown irises. Learned that Surprise Lilies look a lot like onions underground. Lotsa surprises! Have a good one!
The Wood Shed/Equipment Storage building sure looks good. A more practical use to display your beautiful wood project. It complements and is the center point of your growing Resource area. Keeping your expensive tools and equipment covered and dry is way more important than storing wood in the same spot. Wise decision..
The anti scalp wheels have a couple of single holes on opposite side of where they are now. While the deck is raised, turn them and replace the pin. You can roll the deck out from under the tractor instead of dragging it.
Mike, As someone earlier noted rotating the scalp wheels 90 degrees will make the slide out a breeze. I noticed they have changed the pulley/belt covers to plastic, mine is metal, plastic is better in mine opinion. Hey to Hunter! Happy outdoor time!
Removing that deck reminds me of my Kubota. I bought a BX1800 the year they were introduced. The whole mechanism seems to be about the same, but they've improved it. The new one is definitely a lower profile as you had no problem sliding the deck out. The old decks used to get hung up quite a bit. Loved Melissa's joke and your laugh.
Hi mike Kenned from mt morris Michigan in joy your video we got a old oil tank 225 put a Ele. 12 vote pump on it the local fuel supplier deliver 150 gallons minimum no extra charge work out great and thank for all the videos
I have a 1992 18 hp cub cadet garden tractor that the mower deck loads the same way. I use the 50 hp blue tractor to lift the front end of the cub and set it over the mower deck. The blue tractor has three 15k ea lift rings on the bucket so I use chains....lifting straps to pick anything up. Its good Mikes using the wood shed for getting implements out of the rain/sun. Its better for the equipment and gives him a better idea how big his tractor shed needs to be for everything.
Mike you seem to be excited for the Fourth and that is great to have something to look forward to. WOW that was quite a crack Melissa I hope your adjustment will be okay. Thank you for sharing the video with us. Hello Hunter. Ed
Chris in Lake Stevens, WA Mellissa is the dead lift master! Thanks for showing the mower deck removal. When I was shopping for a subcompact I would have the salesman walk me through implement install/removal procedures. Kubota had their mechanic do the demo, but when it came to the mower deck he said, "don't bother, just get 3 point finish mower. Good morning to the Morgan’s. Great video Mike and Melissa. Good review of taking the mower deck off Mike, I like that better than the drive over deck. Less to destroy 👍👍. Melissa you fooled me big time, I remember having to get my back adjusted and how it would pop and what relief was immediately. 😁 . I sure hope you can get through the fireworks this year without any rain delays or fireworks bans 🤞🙏🏻. Thanks for sharing with us. Fred.
250lbs according the specs i found on Kubota’s spec sheet. Also own the BX23S with that same mowing deck. It’s a beast to deal with by yourself when removing and replacing lol
Just want you to know I felled and bucked my first two trees this week. I also am making a Renewable Energy Processing Station in my back yard. Notice I said station, that way it can be the REPS for short. I think Melissa and the girls will like that!
mike you got the equipment to dig a pool you got a mill to produce concrete forms come on Melissa and the kids deserve it and I know your the kind of guy you could make that happen
Good Morning Mike.... Mick here again from Australia.... 10.15pm here just going to bed … and yes 4:15am get up time. Yes 6 Hours is all we need most times..
Looked to me that the anti-scalp wheels on each corn of the can be turned 90° so you won't have to drag them sideways. I could be wrong just looking at the video. But I think I seen holes 90° from the adjustment holes. May help when you reinstall it. Keep up putting out great videos I really enjoy them.
Glad you mentioned some odds and ends to get at harbor freight. i was just at the one in Lyndora and should have gotten more than I did. (like sandpaper). I did find rather cheap leather work gloves. Strange phenomenon on those. I am right handed yet I always wear out my left glove first. Nice coverage of the fuel tank and I always liked how you attached it to the pallet for easy loading. I can see one of those in my future as well.
You should do a walk around of your house and yard. We see the front driveway area and the wood splitting area but don't really know how you get from one area to the other.
Too funny I am a chiropractor and I have seen and heard too many horror stories about people popping their own or spouses backs. Believe me I could write a book on all the stories I've heard. Glad to see you were all about pranking not popping!!
I’m jealous. That’s not as easy as the new John Deere’s like the 1023 and 25s but that’s still no big deal. I had an L1 30 and you have to remove the pins and take the washers off and you have to lift by hand the whole Deck to get the pressure off where it’s hanging and then you have a tension rod in front with another pen and washer and then the pulley and it’s a nightmare just to get under there and clean the thing I used to use wood and paint cans just to drive the front wheels up and I would lay on my back underneath with the hose getting soaked just trying to clean out the deck for normal maintenance because it was a backbreaker to get it off.
Put a couple of straps on the mower deck and lift with the bucket. That’s a trick I learned with my BX. Definitely easier than lifting the deck by hand
Hi Mike, you may want to check out the regs for getting a bigger fuel tank, here anything over 100 gal you have to have a hazmat endorsement on your drivers license.
I would have slid the forks under the mower and lifted it onto the pallet, saving your backs! You need to make yourself some moveable pallet racks for stacking pallets. Yard looks really nice and green👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
On your mower deck it looks like there are holes drilled 90 degrees from the other holes just above where the pins are. This way you could rotate the wheels so it will roll out instead of dragging it out.
Hey Mike, I have the very same diesel fuel transfer tank, and I would recommend that you put some diesel ant-gel treatment in it, especially over the Winter months. I use Howe's, but there are numerous good ones on the market. I took an extra step and put a filter on my transfer tank that not only catches any unwanted sediment, but it also pulls out any water as well.
Kobota has to do something about those bolts rusting up. It makes it look tacky and cheap when everything else is stainless or galvanized. Step it up Kobota!! Other than than I really like the "connection" system they have for the decks and attachments!
Mike - if you are going to store the deck for a few months, I'd recommending releasing the belt tension spring, that will keep the belt from taking a 'set'
yea i know, i should have said you can rotate the wheels, i just didnt take the time cause it was no big deal the way i did it. There has been probably 30 comments saying the same thing you did
From Putnam County New York. My local high school had their graduation at one of the rare drive in movies. Everyone sat in their cars to watch the ceremony.
No big deal. When I graduated the United States government wanted to give me an all expense paid for, vacation to Vietnam. Suck it up kids. It could be worse.
@@realairplane261 I am a former USN Corpsman. In the early 70's I was a week away from going with the USMC. Vietnam was winding down. A message was sent from the CNO that European personnel would no longer be transferred to Asia.

Good Morning! Easy off mower deck demo, thanks for sharing. Looked like another beautiful day in W Pennsylvania. It’s gonna be a 10+ day here, the high is forecast to be 80....WOW! Looks like the GRUMPIES are out already...they must be a subset of .......!!
Somebody might have already said this but its easier to pull the deck out if you drop and turn the anti-scalping wheels before you pull it out. No judgement just trying to help.
Mike, seems to me that it would make sense to rotate the wheels on the mower 90 degrees when installing/uninstalling to make moving it much easier. Looks like a hole is located on the wheel bracket that is 90 degrees to the height adjustment holes to accomplish this. Maybe check the manual on that. Great vid, looking forward to the fireworks stream. Stay safe Morgans!
Not trying to poo poo the Kubota, but my John Deere 1025r with 60" drive over midmount mower deck is a lot less work to remove and install. I've had it for 5 years now, no, I've had no issues at all with it. Great video as always. Thanks!
Where did the forks to slide under that deck so you didn’t even need a pallet? I would almost build a rack where you can put it high up in the shed because it’s so wide and thin you could probably put that 6 feet off the ground and have a ton of room under it since you’ve got the forks. I think if I bought a tractor that’s the first thing I’d buy would be the forks, they seem to be incredibly useful.
*HEY!!* The mower deck rotated 90 degrees on the pallet from when we saw it earlier!! Movie Magic! "Morgans Off the Leash".... Video #16 Meet the Morgans: Michael Morgan!! Have a Day!!
Another great video Mike . Your wood shed won't catch on fire because of the metal roof . Maybe a few cheap welders blankets from Harbour Freight to cover the mill . I'd be more worried about the surrounding vegetation catching fire . The reason everything is cancelled is because you will have large crowds at fireworks . No isolation being practiced . Then again with what we see these days wearing a mask , isolation and not being in a large crowd is gone out the window . The beaches along Lake Ontario this past weekend were packed with people . Seems like people don't care about the virus anymore . Be safe and take care . Many large spikes of people catching the virus in the US now . Now it's hitting smaller cities and towns .
Fireworks huh. Looking forward to them. I shot fireworks for the city of Burbank in LA for 14 years. I'm in NJ now so very much looking forward to seeing what you have. God Bless.
Yup, it is not a wood shed because it does not fit the way Motor Mike handles wood. I commented about that long ago and it was signed and sealed as a tool shed when he hung the rakes and shovels in it. It does have a wood shed sign though. Motor Mike Make the saw shed big! You will some day say Real Airplane was RIGHT!
He said he was building that one for tractor attachments and stuff. I don't have time to watch every second of every video, so he may have said something different on another occasion.
Mike - Looking forward to your 4th of July fireworks display. I'll be watching from here in Davenport, Iowa, along the Mississippi. There have been some awesome displays here by some of the towns around, but I haven't heard what's happening this year. You are right that it is weird, seems like a bit of government overreach at times. Blessings to you and your family. Hi to Hunter.
Also cut the tractor wheels as far as they will go in the opposite direction from the way you want to pull the deck out, makes it easier, same when installing only turn in opposite direction.
I know the wheels rotate, I also should have mentioned that in the video that you can do that of you want to. I just didn't feel like changing them an could easily pull it out like I did
That deck is a beast. Not sure I'd want to drag that around, rotated wheels or not. Also lots of pieces. So far, the BX seems to be a really nice machine, but there are now two things about it that I would be less than enthusiastic about; the deck and the treadle pedal. I'm sure I could get used to both, but I don't have a Mighty Melissa to assist me. It's a one man show around here and I'm not getting any younger. Good video. Always a pleasure to start the day with Outdoors with the Morgans! Hi Hunter!
@@terrycastor8299 actually, the deck is pretty easy to remove and reinstall. I have a BX. The tredal pedal is great for when you are sitting sideways in the seat blowing snow via the 3-point.
Mike that mower deck weighs right at more than a pound, I have a 46 inch MTD and its a pain to take off, I got one for you, I have the prosthetic leg on the right guess whats on the right on the MTD you guessed it the gas peddle, my lady sai DC I watched you mowing our very large yard, she asked how do you mow with that prosthetic leg, I said I use my leg set the foot on the peddle push with my leg and go, she said. I just forget that everything in this world is set up for your right side and I forget what you have to put up with, on my F250 I had a Ghost Wheel put on my truck it sits behind the steering wheel, it runs the accelerator cause I dont have a right foot, I brake with my left foot always have as for Diesel I have a 40 gallon tank on my truck lasts maybe two weeks if lucky I found two stations out of Sioux falls and diesel is 1.99 a gallon, off road same price. In Sioux falls 2.49 a gallon ever little bit helps, watching you, makes me want to buy a KUBOTA could I use it with a right prosthetic leg and foot or could KUBOTA set it for me.
I just got out of hospital had a lvad heart pump cord replaced. I still watched your show you keep me alive

God Bless.
Maybe you can treat us to a big tour of the place on your Ranger. Love to see what's going on with the pond.
That wood shed is looking more and more like an equipment shed
Yup, it is not a wood shed because it does not fit the way Motor Mike handles wood. I commented about that long ago and it was signed and sealed as a tool shed when he hung the rakes and shovels in it. It does have a wood shed sign though. Motor Mike Make the saw shed big! You will some day say Real Airplane was RIGHT!
He said he was building that one for tractor attachments and stuff. I don't have time to watch every second of every video, so he may have said something different on another occasion.
Need new sign "Kubota Barn"
the only thing WOOD about it is the construction!!
Yup Kodiak you are wrong.
Ahhh, continuity........noticed where you did turn the mower deck 90 degrees on the pallet to get the forks under it....great video as usual!
lol I thought I was the only one who noticed they put the deck on the pallet the wrong way!!!!
me too
Kubota has a fairly simple mower removal system but lags behind John Deere removal from seat technology
Good morning from western Newfoundland and have a good day
Also cut the tractor wheels as far as they will go in the opposite direction from the way you want to pull the deck out, makes it easier, same when installing only turn in opposite direction.
Rotate those scalp wheels 90 degrees and it will roll out instead of having to drag it. Nice video.
You are so right! Good point.
Hi Hunter!
Hey Terry,
Check out mower deck install/removal for the, "other brand". :-)
@@terrycastor8299 actually, the deck is pretty easy to remove and reinstall. I have a BX. The tredal pedal is great for when you are sitting sideways in the seat blowing snow via the 3-point.
Hahahahaike I am glad I wasn't the only one whom forget to undo the PTO on mower deck
