I usually hit my garden with my grader box with the cutting tines all the way down a couple times the day before i till it helps dry out the dirt plus gets me a deeper cut when I till just a tip love the channel keep up the great work God bless Phil
Another good one....bought the same tiller a month ago and used it to put in a new lawn for my daughter....on the second pass go a little slower and it goes down about 7" with the feet adjusted all the way up...I has a really hard time finding the tiller....no one had them around but found one at a store called Runnings in New Hampshire....nice ride to pick it up and it was my wife's idea, can't hide anything from her...keep the videos coming
Your wife is a smart lady! Yes you’re right this particular tiller is hard to find. I wanted it because I’ve seen tractor time with Tim use his very effectively in some very rough conditions. I’m very happy with it! Keep on tractoring!
Love the versatility of the flail mower😀! Looks like the Kubota handles it like a champ. Great video and dirt work looks great. It's going to be 88 here today, time to plant!
Couple things Jon. Put together a garden setup kit. Kit should include, Flags, string, 2' chunks of rebar (for tying string for straight line) and a 100' tape measure and a hammer. For getting it to go deeper, keep pressing down on three point lever while making second and third pass. Love seeing you out there. KOT&GB (keep on tractoring and God bless)
You're obviously a professional. If I end up tilling gardens for a bunch of people I don't know I'll put together a setup kit like that. Keep on tractoring!
The BX doesn't have down pressure on the 3 point, so pressing the lever down doesn't do anything I don't think. To till deeper you have to adjust the skid shoes on the tiller up or down depending on how deep you want to go. I wish they'd add down pressure but someone would inevitably break something LOL.
@william Sevier, I know there is no down pressure, but holding the lever allows the three point to continue going down as you move. If you only lower to the ground, the tiller will be held in that position.
@@ritterjon I don't think many people use them honestly. They kind of rock back and forth pretty easily sitting on the ground so most people I think just roll them towards the 3 point to hook them up without much trouble. I'd leave that stand off too, one less thing to have fall off while in use too and cause damage to something at some point.
The BX is capable of running a 54 inch tiller if I recall. Its either 50 or 54 inch I am not 100% certain which. I was looking at getting a 50" for mine if I ever get a BX.
I seen that you still have snow up there in Mike's latest video. My goodness, time for all that melt! We've finally been getting some nice weather. Farmers are in their fields. Keep on tractoring!
Box tilling annually will create a sort-of hardpan down there, recommend running a Sub-Soiler rod every year for drainage. Thanks so much, great video...
20 minutes ago I purchased the Artillian ROPS mount and some attachments, then my dude puts out another video. I made sure to mention that I learned about Artillian from you 👍🏼
Thank for mentioning my name 👍 I really appreciate that. Artillian makes all sorts of useful things for tractors. What did you end up getting? Keep on tractoring!
@@ritterjon the rops mount bar, tool basket, 4 rubber clamps so I can mount that on the tool basket to strap in the weed eater and any other tool, and the large tool box. I plan on getting their grapple and pallet forks eventually. I’m also stuck in between their diverter kit and the summit 3rd function. What 3rd function brand do you have on your BX? I haven’t been able to find a video of you talking about your 3rd function
Hey there Adam! Keep in mind that was pretty soft ground, however the toothbar makes a huge difference. Wait until you see my video tomorrow. I'm going to make ya spend more money maybe. Keep on tractoring!
I think that tiller is a forward rotating tine model. I've heard the reverse rotating models actually will dig in deeper as the reverse tine rotation forces them to dig in, the only downfall that I've heard is in soil you have never tilled if you hit rocks and stuff it can throw them up into the underside of the tiller housing and dent the crap out of it...but for many people who till their gardens a reverse rotating tiller is best as it will till deeper and makes a much smoother end result.
Great video Jon, Looks like the three point isn’t floating because when you went over a hump the tiller went up with the tractor. Keep up the good work.
Wouldn't you want the 3 point in float when rototiling? Or does the 3 point have a float position? I know the loader does, but does the 3 point have that feature as well?
All 3 point hitch implements float there is no holding it down the 3 point was all the way down so if the tractor came up the tiller did too. I USUALLY over lap each pass by 5p percent so one side of the skids are on hoard ground, and if there's room turn around and come back the opposite way because where you stop it leaves a rut. Then when done hit do the 2 ends in the opposite direction , like go across the ends to fill in those ruts. Might want to lengthen that top link if you want it to go deeper and if skids aren't in deepest setting!👍
Yes, that's how you adjust the depth on those, raise or lower the skid shoes to get the depth you want. However when tilling new ground you want to start shallow anyways, and make several passes going deeper each time.
Are those chain driven from the gearbox? Or do they have a belt or gears? I thought some were chain, some were belt, and some actually were gear driven....I think I read somewhere that you actually want a chain or belt drive model as the belt or chain will give before causing too much damage if you hit something...although I thought that the PTO shaft had shear pins or a slip clutch...sorry very new to the tractor world, I don't even have one yet, that is how new i am to them LOL.
@@wildbill23c I am pretty sure it's a chain system, andi do think it has a slipper clutch in the PTO. I should have write chain oil, as opposed to gear oil. 👍
I suspect Jon had a bit a bit of envy when he saw the size of the shop/garage building on this property. That tiller did a good job at avoiding the mystery stump in the ground.
@@ritterjon hahahahaha funny be a footage of being like the picture on the sticker wrapped around like a pretzel lol but that would be bad though lol hahahahaha
I think today made number 19 on gardens for me. On the depth I assume you are doing this but keep the 3 point lever pushed forward as your tilling so the lift can continue to drop as needed. I really don’t like that design on the bx, position levers are much better. Great video!
Yes in fact I completely disassembled it and turned the springs and bolts around. I don’t think anyone noticed in the video. It was in good shape. Keep on tractoring!
I love the setup with the cab! Do you get any dust in there at all or is it sealed up pretty good. I definitely noticed the amount of dust I was eating when I was tilling the other day!
Same when I was pulling stumps! Lots of dust, but I'd have to open the back hatch of the cab when using the backhoe anyways, so not much protection from dust that way. Love the cab as well. 👍
I get some dust come in from where the levers are but the cab definitely keeps a lot of things out. Including biting bugs which is so nice in the summer. Keep on tractoring!

I know on my JD when the lever is all the way down it seals to float. Not sure if I’m using the correct term lol.
I wish the BX had a float for the three point but they do not. Often I just kept a hand on the handle in the down position.
