Great review. I am a Polestar 3 owner, model year 2025 dual motor with the BW sound system. I absolutely love the car. Agree with every point on exterior design, it’s just a flat out beautiful car. Inside, I happen to like the window switching buttons due to minimalism (that’s just my preference bias tho) and the touch buttons on the steering wheel. You get used to them after like a day and it just becomes second nature to use them. That they have no symbol on them to tell you what they do makes no difference to me, to be honest. Biggest design gripe is the UI and having to use the screen for most functions. However, many of them can be done through the google voice. Changing climate settings, turn on/off heated seat and wheel I always do with google voice if I’m driving. While changing performance settings through clicking 2-3 times on the screen is annoying, nobody should be doing that while driving anyway. Wait until you’re at a red or parked. The need to change any of those while actively driving is as close to zero as you can get, so I get why they did it that way. Biggest issues with the car is that there are many minor software issues like HUD screen not displaying sometimes, the car telling you there’s a braking assist error or pilot assist not turning on properly. Hopefully those are things that can be addressed in updates, so I’m not super concerned about them unless they go on for 12+ months. Overall, it’s an amazing car. And I mean, the B&W speakers are just chefs kiss. 30 thousand dollar speakers with a car attached.
How many times have we mistakenly opened the rear windows blingly aiming for the four buttons while driving? Second, how often do we even open the rear windows? I think the two button solution is genius and not cost saving. When Tesla opens the entire Supercharger network to these (currently only select v.3 and v.4 stations), NACS port comes standard and moves further back, mobile service comes to my job's parking lot like Tesla's, and when bugs get ironed out in about two years (like in Polestar 2) I would gladly spring for one of these as a long distance traveler. Until then it will be for well retired pensioners with time to kill idling at stealership service centers.
@@Bobpaule That’s a very good point that haven’t occurred to me until you made it. I just blindly went along with car reviewers who said that was a negative. But you’re absolutely right. And if you have kids sitting in backseat, you’ll be opening and closing the windows pretty often The three buttons take up the same amount of space, I do not see the point. You have to touch it with just the right amount of time and pressure for it to switch back-and-forth.

Couple of corrections: -There is no electrochromic roof option for the Polestar 3. That's only an option, currently, on the Polestar 4. -Only the rear motor is ever decoupled while in range mode. In your review you kept referencing both the front and rear motors. -The range is based on the default settings. So for you, in the Performance Pack equipped car, that means both front and rear motors are engaged full time by default. (Car starts in Performance mode) And that's how the EPA rating is determined and what informs the displayed range in the driver's display, along with ambient temps, battery temp, and the last 100-ish miles of driving style. This differs from the non-Performance Pack cars, which start in "Range" mode, so that the rear motor is decoupled most of the time. As a result, those non-Performance Pack cars have a higher EPA rating. However, even in the Performance Pack car, you can select the "Range" mode and essentially get that same higher range (minus a little for the wheel and tire combo). -The sort of taskbar shortcuts are currently not user configurable. They just change depending on whether you're in Park or in Drive. (I hope they do become a user defined option in a future update!)

What I love about modern EVs is how easily they can become better over time. A lot of the criticism in this video can (and probably will) be fixed with over-the-air software updates. Even range - the Polestar 2 for example has gained several miles over time. Think it might also be worth noting that the Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor has a significantly better range than the Long Range Dual Motor with Performance pack as in this video - 350 miles EPA instead of 279. In WLTP numbers that’s over 700 km. To me that’s actually impressive for an SUV and definitely more than I’d ever need.

Either way, most people nowadays claim their car as a business express so regardless its a tax write off 🤷♂️
why so expensive tho? are they trying to compete with Model S? I mean it explains the minimal interior and all. But man I just feel that most people would prefer a Tesla at that point. If only they undercut and make starting trim at 50K range, I bet it would be way more successful. I almost see like I see 1 polestar on the road in like 2 months. Polestar should hire this guy for a review of their car before they go into manufacturing the final version because that was quite a good review which I had to agree with, those controls on the centre screen I can see would be quite annoying to go through whilst driving...other than that it is a great looking car.

Great presentation 👏 and 100% agree with the fascination that one car can have so many high points, but also several low points. With small adjustments this could really be perfection 👌
The glove box opening only with the media screen is a safety feature, you can get inside the vehicle by breaking the window but then you can't open it as you normally would, I think that's a plus. How frequently do you use the glove box that you absolutely need instant access? It makes the glovebox a little more secure.
Do you have to pull the key card out of your pocket to open the door or just have it on you? Having to swipe as in the video would be a pain in the winter.
Oh, you'll get used to it e v e n t u a l l y . But beyond "the look" it offers very little of practical use. It really seems to be a mere fashion statement that everyone has decided to copy to fit in.
Great review. One point to note is that although there may be too many touches of the center console to schieve basic stuff like adjusting the climate fan speed etc., if it's acting like my Polestar 2 (and the 3 runs the same Android Automotive Operating Syatem), then there eill be voice commands to do thosec things habds free. Try pressing the voice assistant button on the steering wheel and saying 'increase fan speed'. I do think that Polestar would do well to provide some sort of easy access to a spoken tutorial as to what voice comnands are available to control car functions such as climate.
Software developer at Polestar in Sweden here. It would be cool if you could also review some of the AD/ADAS functionalities when reviewing the cars. I work on "autopilot" (called Pilot assist) function and would be great to hear what user experience is like :)
Well, I happen to own a Polestar 3 since two weeks now. I’m really sorry to have to inform you that I think the drive pilot system is good in some respects but overall it feels unfinished. The good: - lane keeping is decent (my BMW did slightly better, reacting to the road conditions). - adaptive cruise control is nice and smooth, reacts very well to sudden incidents such as cars cutting in front of you The bad: - the distance from the car in front is fixed which is really annoying. In rush hour traffic the cars behind me start tail gating and cutting in front of me because they don’t understand why I keep such a ridiculous distance from the car in front. - There is no feedback from the system on the heads up display. With these kind of systems I feel it is important to always be aware of the status of the system (is it on/off, which speed is set etc) - and the most annoying of all: the car gets mad at me when I look at the screen, even if only for a second or two. Then after a few of these warnings I get punished and the car switches the system off until the next drive. I really hope this feedback finds its way to the right people. It is such a nice car but some things are just unfinished. I hope it’s just that and the missing functionality will be added later.
I am convinced that until EV's are widely accepted in the US range Is going to be stuck near 250-300. Yeah there are some standouts, but it just seem like a thing . In the EU and Uk the range is fine.
Geely realized after the acquisition that they basically bought an Audio Company that builds devices called "cars" you get as an add on. Glad to hear the Volvo audio love is still going strong, even as far back as the MilesPerHr or TheTopher Volvo videos that showcase their audio capabilities.
I own a Polestar 2 performance at the moment and I have to agree, Polestar knows how to make a beautiful vehicle. However, the tech and intuitive functions are definitely lacking. A lot of my gripes can be corrected with software in the future. but, would definitely appreciate some tactile functions that will never be addressed.
In September we traveled to MA for my nephew's wedding, I rented a Polestar 2. It was our first experience with an EV (we've been driving a hybrid sedan for about 12ish years, 3 different models Mercury Milan, and 2 different Lincoln MKZs) anyway, I really liked the car, my wife was dubious, but my brother-in-law LOVED IT. He bought one the next week. I agree with you concerning those buttons, they're an odd choice there as well as the range. The only other thing that I wasn't a fan of was that speaker on the dash.
I really just need the price of some of these things to come down in order for them to be a reasonable competitor to an ICE vehicle. My wife has a Bolt because it was competitive, these are so far outside the ballpark that they're basically a novelty.
It's cool to see the features in these videos, but the main thing I'm listening for is the price and some sign that EV prices are dropping. As a bolt owner, I still don't understand how that car existed at its price point relative to essentially every other EV.
I like the two window buttons on the driver door. I almost never roll down the rear windows and often hit the wrong buttons on my car with the 4 buttons.
M, the pass through in the back seat is for cross-country skis. It's a Nordic thing. That said, most people are carrying many pairs of nordic skis just for one outing so they can be prepared for different snow conditions.
Yeah.. I think the decision is more about minimalism than cost.. the actual buttons feel like they’re made of machined aluminum.. which is probably what they’re made of. My I-Pace had four cheapo buttons, but I doubt that they cost half as much. The cost saving meme comes from the VW ID design.. where the controls really are super cheap.
Great review, was curious to see Polestar 3 on this channel! Just wondering why no one is talking about “watt mileage” of these various new EVs, given it’s the main cost of operating an EV, would really be interesting to hear a mention like “real world watt per mile consumption is X and that’s how it compares to main competitor Y”. In our experience there are 20 to 50% efficiency gaps across comparable models, and no one seems to talk about it, range being the main concern. We do care about mileage per gallon of ICE cars, so hope people start paying more attention to this in EVs as well

Had a Bowers and Wilkins system in my old house, in wall. It was epic. So glad they kept their quality bar so high.
Marques, that slot behind the arm rests in the back is for ski's. At least that's what it's used for in Europe.
We have that in North America, I guess he was referring to how tiny it is. You can barely fit a pair of skis in that small hole.
@@omarllamamore likely cross country ski’s. Those are way narrower vs. mountain ski’s. I can see fitting 2 pairs through it just fine.
Skis -lol.
Putting everything in the software is the worst part of new cars. A software button for the glove box?! FFS, that is ridiculous
I agree with you about software things but gloves box is for safety reasons and work like safe
I love this
cheap secure keycard
If you hate the firmware, you are able to hack to doh !
This is the best, old people need new skills and love it too !
It's a safety feature. You can put your wallet and phone there if you f.ex. go for a short walk, and if someone breaks your window, they won't have time to pry open your glove box with the alarm going. It's actually genius if you think about it.
What’s with the top left hidden messaging in first few seconds - top left in clouds?
You drove the Performance model with giant wheels. The standard model has 315 miles of range, which beats the current AWD Model Y.

Realized I had not subscribed, but always enjoy your approach to car reviews, so I did.
Your reviews are top notch! Periode!
Test drove one the other day. Really sweet. Super comfortable. Handled as well as my Porsche Taycan. Will grab one when my Taycan lease is up.
I like the Taycan cockpit much better - controls & displays are vastly superior to this Tesla-wannabe
@@panameradan6860you think this is a Tesla wannabe!?! Sit in one my dude. Jfc
I hope you're not going into massive car debt.
Really big fan of the Polestar 3. And honestly they have some solid lease deals.
Leasing is like pissing in the wind, unless you just want to try the vehicle for a short time.
@@jackscaliburthe speed at which EVs depreciate, leasing is the wiser choice. Also depending on the state, leasing grants you access to more cash incentives.
@@GlitterGuru Sure, there's nuance.
@@jackscalibur not to mention most EV lease deals come with free charging for the entire term (at least my Ioniq 5 did) which I don't think is offered for financing
@@LiminalThought you’re comparing apples to oranges. Financing a 3 year old Polestar after 40-50% depreciation hits makes the most sense. But financing it brand new is probably the worst idea. Leasing it makes sense if you don’t drive it 100mi a day and plan on buying a new car in a few years. Either way, most people nowadays claim their car as a business express so regardless its a tax write off 🤷♂️
Nice to see the review on a car I helped build (TM engineer at Volvo). Keep up the good reviews
why so expensive tho? are they trying to compete with Model S? I mean it explains the minimal interior and all. But man I just feel that most people would prefer a Tesla at that point. If only they undercut and make starting trim at 50K range, I bet it would be way more successful. I almost see like I see 1 polestar on the road in like 2 months. It feels rarer than a Cybertruck lol. Honestly, just look at how well Hyundai Ioniq 5 is doing in the 50k range. People wanting better quality would love to switch to polestar at that price point imo
I just wish he tell us the charge rate that could be difference to 40 and 25 minute stop!
@@TwoHands12Polestar is a Volvo brand. Volvos are not cheap
@@TwoHands12 like mentioned it is a Volvo brand and they go for luxury cars. I will say Tesla can be nice but you will see less defects on polestars.

This was a really balanced and informative review.
Did you get arrested in this car? 🤔
I love how Polestars look, they have a really fresh appearance among the crowds of basically the same car.
Polestar should hire this guy for a review of their car before they go into manufacturing the final version because that was quite a good review which I had to agree with, those controls on the centre screen I can see would be quite annoying to go through whilst driving...other than that it is a great looking car.
Truth!
he can also test 35 to 96 on their new product
I like the direction Polestar is going and hope they can continue to grow in the U.S.
I thought the US wanted to ban Chinese products (Volvo is Chinese for more than a decade)
@@ElonMuskTheOneexactly, chynese garbage
@@ElonMuskTheOneVolvo Cars is Swedish but majority owned by Chinese company Geely. Trump only cares about where cars are made and Volvos made in the USA won’t be affected by tariffs. As for Polestar, Volvo recently got rid of its stake in the company but since they’re under the same parent one could imagine that they would manufacture Polestar for the US market in Volvo’s SC factory.
5:50 Can you use gloves when pressing the steering wheel digital buttons?
Cool! Did you test it in a school zone?
Silly random design choices but the overall interior design and the graphic design is the best I've seen on a car
I've been waiting for this video when I saw you had the shoot schedule in the Apple Intelligence Video
Cant wait for the Polestar 96
Great presentation 👏 and 100% agree with the fascination that one car can have so many high points, but also several low points. With small adjustments this could really be perfection 👌
The pass through in the back is for cross-country skiing, which is very popular in europe. At least in Norway its a must have for a lot of people.
The glove box opening only with the media screen is a safety feature, you can get inside the vehicle by breaking the window but then you can't open it as you normally would, I think that's a plus. How frequently do you use the glove box that you absolutely need instant access? It makes the glovebox a little more secure.
Gloveboxes that lock have existed for decades, my 90s mercury cougar had one. Guess that can’t happen if you don’t get a real key anymore though
You can put a handle to open and can automatically lock it while car is locked then. What you are saying is stupid. They cheap out that is why.
Starts at 76.000€

but ends at 96 mph
3:11 ok ill give them that, never seen bezels that thin on a mirror before.
you should do a video reviewing your tickets
Do you have to pull the key card out of your pocket to open the door or just have it on you? Having to swipe as in the video would be a pain in the winter.
minimalism will ruin cars for me
I couldn’t agree more. I get that for some people car is just a means of transportation. As for me, I like beauty, it makes me feel good.
another thing Elon has ruined. why are some of these car companies following tesla's trend when tesla's are so garbage.
right? Imagine what it might be like if we went down this path as the lore of cars in fallout series! EV Muscle Wagons with modern parts....
Oh, you'll get used to it e v e n t u a l l y . But beyond "the look" it offers very little of practical use. It really seems to be a mere fashion statement that everyone has decided to copy to fit in.
@@ddha0000 It's Scandinavian style. Minimalism is basically Scandinavian design. No need to do Russian/American exaggerate design for no reason.
Yes using voice control is even easier than hunting for buttons, just say Google change fan speed to low and you are done. I still like buttons tho.
The good:
- lane keeping is decent (my BMW did slightly better, reacting to the road conditions).
- adaptive cruise control is nice and smooth, reacts very well to sudden incidents such as cars cutting in front of you
The bad:
- the distance from the car in front is fixed which is really annoying. In rush hour traffic the cars behind me start tail gating and cutting in front of me because they don’t understand why I keep such a ridiculous distance from the car in front.
- There is no feedback from the system on the heads up display. With these kind of systems I feel it is important to always be aware of the status of the system (is it on/off, which speed is set etc)
- and the most annoying of all: the car gets mad at me when I look at the screen, even if only for a second or two. Then after a few of these warnings I get punished and the car switches the system off until the next drive.
I really hope this feedback finds its way to the right people. It is such a nice car but some things are just unfinished. I hope it’s just that and the missing functionality will be added later.
@hewy6929 thanks for your feedback. We will try to address the issues in the next software updates.
5 seconds in, what was the faded face pencil drawing that appears in the top left corner?
Great comprehensive review thanks.
MPHD back with another video
I am convinced that until EV's are widely accepted in the US range Is going to be stuck near 250-300. Yeah there are some standouts, but it just seem like a thing . In the EU and Uk the range is fine.
Which is crazy considering the battery pack size of this vehicle.
Even 200 miles is just fine usually.
300 miles is basically driving 4 hours straight... that's insane.
Once native NACS start shipping, these non Tesla EVs are going to be incredible
Great review! Minimalist design, maximum driving experience. We hope you find your perfect Polestar soon ⚡
Marques I know this is an odd question, but what brand red hoodie are you wearing in this video. Those oblong grommets are cool!
Great review!
How fast does it take from 0-96 in a school zone?
That's cringe af bruv
Same
It's cool to see the features in these videos, but the main thing I'm listening for is the price and some sign that EV prices are dropping. As a bolt owner, I still don't understand how that car existed at its price point relative to essentially every other EV.
Excellent, Polestar 3 is a great looking car just like all the other Polestars. Wish they could market it better.
I like the two window buttons on the driver door. I almost never roll down the rear windows and often hit the wrong buttons on my car with the 4 buttons.
You must have fat fingers
I drove one of these on the COTA F1 track and was blown away by how good it is. Beats the hell out of every BMW SUV in handling. Sensational.
Polestar is my favorite car brand right now. I can’t get over them. Working to buy one for my next car change 🤞🏼

Dear friend, I am a woman who is very interested in cars and their details. I am very happy to have found your channel. ❤
M, the pass through in the back seat is for cross-country skis. It's a Nordic thing. That said, most people are carrying many pairs of nordic skis just for one outing so they can be prepared for different snow conditions.
"Money saving measure"
.. Starting price is $67,500
270 miles of range, in winter temps, and he STILL basically says the thing is unusable 😂.
And always engaging in performance due to performance pack. So need to disable it. + bigger wheels that play a bit part also.
