This was a fun one. I think one detail that got missed was that Scrapman seemed to have much better physical shielding, so his cannons weren't taking direct hits as soon as his shields popped. The better weapons was probably the decisive factor, though.
I'm once again going to suggest non-lethal "fights". You have to incapacitate your opponent without killing them, for example by flipping them, attaching a balloon to them, or picking them up. If you destroy them or knock them out of their seat, you lose. If they can no longer get free or do anything useful, you win. Nothing that intentionally causes damage to your opponent is allowed. (Accidentally causing some melee damage when trying to use your device is fine.)

The bonus round mirror match with Yuzei's ship was the most exciting, so I'm thinking even these max complexity battles should have some kind of weapon limitations. Not necessarily ban anything outright but define a max number (or, better yet, a power core budget) of each type so that how you place and utilize each becomes a more important consideration. We know by now that, in Trailmakers, gun spam pretty much just always wins so the key is to find interesting ways to constrain it while promoting decision-making and problem-solving.
Btw,yzuei had no clue that lazers were better than missiles,so you can't really fault the weapons or amount there of.Basically,It ain't scrap's fault he's more knowledgeable.

Just making an observation, and offering a suggestion that I think could help keep future battles of this type from getting stale (for us as viewers and them as players). I don't think Scrapman expected the blasters to be so overwhelmingly powerful either, he's been very good at keeping himself in check with how much to leverage his greater experience. He seemed just as surprised by how quickly they chewed through all those energy shields. Whether intentionally or not, Scrapman "solved" this format. So now I would like to see them alter the format, but in a way that doesn't risk either simply replacing one type of spam with another, or reducing any future max complexity battle to giants having a pillow fight.
I think that doing build battles where you have to use a very weird type of plane from history, so you both just take an idea from history than never really worked, and you each try to build a plane taking inspiration from that and battle with it Example: You both try to build a flying pancake and then battle with it

Video Idea: -Max complexity bomber Vs Max complexity AA. -Requirements: Small sized targets numbering in the dozen. An overpowered plane with missiles and an AA truck with guided missiles. The air would not need guidance but the ground should spawn the creation in a spawn ring so that they may enter the seats of each individual missiles they fire, this means that they can build one super missile or many smaller ones at the back of a ground platform. the player would respawn leaving the creation with fired missile on the map thus the limitations to get back into on the respawn and fire again if any missiles are left. The plane must build unguided gliding bombs while the ground must build long range missiles... -Suggested settings: The defending player must build an AA system to take out the plane and thus protect the targets laying around the area. While the attacking player sends its payload and takes out the ground targets that would be laced with dynamite.. The player with the most dynamite left at the end wins and if the plane gets all the targets it wins.
Make a Maximum complexity evolution race! You start with 20 blocks and 25 power cores, eatch evolution you add 100 blocks and 7 more power cores with the goal being to make a vehicle with the highest amount of complexity while still being able to function.

The weapon choices have basically nothing on the form factor of the vessel, and could easily be refit for either vessel. If you kept everything else the same but switched their weapons around, then Yzuei's ship would win incredibly easily. The laser blasters are extremely OP. You could make a barely floating poorly shielded brick with laser spam and it would win against any enemy that was using a bad weapon.

I guess I haven’t made a new ship in a while… guess I’ll get to that after a new heli, my old designs have some issues with being slow to go forward. Also, all the weapons explode because powercores now explode. Makes the chain reaction happen very easily.

I think the waves were making things a lot harder for Yuzei because the rockets were launching at Scrapman while he had a certain velocity, and the targeting in the game works by expecting the target to keep a somewhat constant velocity, but because Scrap's velocity and direction were being changed inconsistently by the waves, he wouldn't follow the path the targeting system expected him to, and the rockets couldn't course correct mid-flight, so that led to a lot of the rockets being way above or below him
Something I'd like to see, though would be tricky to pull off: Max complexity hot air balloons. Essential you'd be limited in maneuverability, only being able to ascend/descend, and have very limited thrust constantly pushing you in one direction at a fixed, slow rate to simulate wind. But you can outfit your craft with tons of guns and shield and rockets and whatever else you can think of (drones, maybe?).
Day 2 of asking scrapman to do base battle. Each base has a trophy in the middle and to win you must take the trophy and bring it to your base.And each base has rockets so 2vs2. 1 player from each base goes in a car while the other use the rockets to safely guide their teammates.

max complexity all-in-one transformer battle! it'll be really interesting to see which environments you choose to fight from, submarine, air, hover, ground, wallclimbing, you'll need weapons that can deal with all of them, or take the risk and specialize against the strategy you predict they'll use ^°^

The one and only reason scrap man's was better is because he decided rockers weren't a good idea, the shields are a hard counter to them. Lasers have a high fire rate and DPS if you add enough of them
Idea: Can be a max complexity video. Mobile bases. You have to build a base that can move around on the ground, however to be able to use your weapons you have to deploy your base. No shields allowed when mobile but can be used once deployed. Also when mobile you have no weapons or a very limited number of weak weapons.

Did you know that those big heavy container faring ships have flat bottoms yet they don't loose any stability? The ship is so heavy, that they can afford to move the center of mass closer to the center of float. The ship is too heavy for wind and waves to tip it as much as smaller ships. Smaller ships have deep, weighted keels to gain more leverage against the wind and waves, it moves the center of mass farther from the center of float. Also a wide flat bottom has as much of a "sail effect" as a deep keel. I'm talking about the resistance of water, that gets shoved aside when a ship leans. P.s. there's also some funny business with ships of different sizes leaning inwards or outwards when turn.
I don’t know if you guys are super into Halo, but doing a covenant vs unsc or just plain covenant ship vs covenant ship space battles would be sick. I’ve made a couple Seraphs, Banshee, and Cruisers on my own trailmakers page.
Random fact. The difference between a ship and a boat is whether the COG is above or below the water line. Boats are below and lean into turns, ships are above and lean out of turns. Scrapman definitely built a battleship not a battleboat.
i think u prolly know this too but, helicopter engine steering works rlly well with big ships too as u can stack them but i guess gyro steering works too
Oh actually I have a better idea!.. You remember that 2v2 madmax thing you did? where you had trucks that exploded and 1 drove while the other shot? Have max complexity of that. Soo you both work in pairs to have max complexity truck+trailer and see which pair can build the better combo :D
I wonder if the challenge of building max complexity hovercraft would work out? They seem to be more weight and balance dependent in order to not just crumble when turning. Making design more of a factor, you could even limit the amount of gyro stability you use in the build.
I feel like submarines would be the next logical step: You went from the air onto the water & now you'd go from on the water into it... Also submarines kinda combine planes and ships as they can move in three dimensions & even jump out of the water. But are restricted in where they can move & where their thrust works.
Scrapman's experiment with weapons helps him a lot in battles.

The one and only reason scrap man's was better is because he decided rockers weren't a good idea, the shields are a hard counter to them. Lasers have a high fire rate and DPS if you add enough of them

Idea: Can be a max complexity video. Mobile bases. You have to build a base that can move around on the ground, however to be able to use your weapons you have to deploy your base. No shields allowed when mobile but can be used once deployed. Also when mobile you have no weapons or a very limited number of weak weapons.
Y'all should do Pirate ships where you can only shoot from the sides. It would be so satisfying to see the ships getting hit broadside.

21:00 - 23:08 is the most balanced battle I have ever seen.
Did you know that those big heavy container faring ships have flat bottoms yet they don't loose any stability?
The ship is so heavy, that they can afford to move the center of mass closer to the center of float. The ship is too heavy for wind and waves to tip it as much as smaller ships.
Smaller ships have deep, weighted keels to gain more leverage against the wind and waves, it moves the center of mass farther from the center of float.
Also a wide flat bottom has as much of a "sail effect" as a deep keel. I'm talking about the resistance of water, that gets shoved aside when a ship leans.
P.s. there's also some funny business with ships of different sizes leaning inwards or outwards when turn.

Random fact. The difference between a ship and a boat is whether the COG is above or below the water line. Boats are below and lean into turns, ships are above and lean out of turns.

Oh actually I have a better idea!.. You remember that 2v2 madmax thing you did? where you had trucks that exploded and 1 drove while the other shot? Have max complexity of that. Soo you both work in pairs to have max complexity truck+trailer and see which pair can build the better combo :D

They seem to be more weight and balance dependent in order to not just crumble when turning. Making design more of a factor, you could even limit the amount of gyro stability you use in the build.
I feel like submarines would be the next logical step: You went from the air onto the water & now you'd go from on the water into it...
Also submarines kinda combine planes and ships as they can move in three dimensions & even jump out of the water. But are restricted in where they can move & where their thrust works.

i feel like for future challenges that involve weapon choice outlawing or limiting blasters might be a good idea
multiplayer idea: normal dogfight, but every 2 min of building time each of you guys can ban a block
