Just traded my Triple 675R (MY2016) for the Tuono 660 Factory even tho i'm a "Triumph hooligan".
Looks are amazing, specs are amazing, and the sound aprilia just got on it, sounding more like a V4 than a twin.
It's true that it seems expensive but you just got the RSV4 electronics, full led and a lot of cool stuff. The engine doesn't feel like a twin, it likes to be reved like a bigger engine.
I recommend everyone to test it, you'll get surprised by this bike.
You nailed it. I had a Daytona 675 as a daily/track bike for years and had planned replace it with a 765 street triple, but this 660 Factory is the perfect street bike in terms of ergos, power and handling. 2500 miles on my 2022 and no complaints (1st Italian bike). It pulls like a 2-stroke once you hit 7K revs
I have a 2016 Triumph Street Triple 675 RX, owned for 3 years. Thinking of selling it this year for a Aprilia 660 or a RSV4. Rode my buddies Tuono last year and loved it.
Lol at the amount of Street triple and Tuono comparisons or trades. I was looking at this bike and still would love it as a second bike. But the 10,995 for my new street triple 765 RS in carbon black was an easy decider
@rayman1230 you get more bike. Don't understand why Aprila hasn't come out with a bigger twin.
Captain Midlife, thanks for the very nice review of very interesting bike.
It was between Tuono 660 and Mt-09 for me also. I bought the Tuono660 because the new Mt-09 is so ugly.
Good shout, my mates mt09 has been in and out of dealer with intermittent fueling issues
the problem is that MT09 is too powerful and snappy, it's like a wild animal that can get you into trouble real fast if you're not careful
The lads at Holeshot are absolute legends. That is the least amount of traffic I've ever seen at Northcote!
I want one of these So badly!
What stands out 4 me that its an attractive tidy unit up there with sfv2 . Lacking in real punch low down. Might as well pay 2 grand extra and get the sfv2. Mt09 or xsr900 are a better buy for what u get.
In the US the Tuono 660 is $10,999 and the MT-09 SP is $11,099.
thanks👍🏻 somebody had to do it😅
Yeah, that must be a typo. I'm in western europe and the bike is ~11K EUR.
sadly its not a typo😢
Easy decision.
@@rodrigovaccari7547 VAT, but in the US, MSRP is not the out the door price.
Where does the Tuono compare with the Aprilia RS 660 I wonder?
If it is a comparo, the 23 xsr900 has all the bells and whistles , a powerful 900 triple, and is light.-IMO The Japanese, in general, are more refined regarding engineering and can slap on electronics with the best of them when they want to. This is a very pretty machine with its own niche.
so, you're saying we need a 900 tuono v4 :P
I had an 890 Duke R when I got my V4 Tuono, I considered the 660 but was 20hp less than the KTM, I think a Street fighter V2 is a good hp step up but I've always wanted an Aprilia so got a '21 RR a bit rarer than all these factory's running around.
My friend Larry has the 1100 version of this I love it. But it is hard to find neutral with the auto shift. But a great bike. I ride at Fz1 Yamaha
This or, a 600cc Gixer or triumph 675r?
Great to see Robbie and you on the Shore Tamaki! Thanks for the review. Strong recommendation from a V4 rider. I like the look of the Tuono 660 Factory and will be heading over for a test ride sometime. Hey where can you find twists without an 80 km limit on the shore. Not my bit of town.
Thanks mate.
Very interesting video. Thanks a lot !
I want one of these but I’m down Invercargill and nearest dealer is Christchurch. Buying a 2023 Triumph Street Triple R instead
Great vid. Just traded my 09 ZX6R for the 23 Tuono 660 Factory. Dont regret it a bit. But at 10.42 you made a big error on facts. The answer to that question is YES. ;)
What fact?
1:43 - being from America, I almost had a heart attack when you pulled out onto the street… I thought you were getting t-boned for a good sec 🤦♂️
Any post processing on your audio? This is still the Giant Squid right?
Would you pick this bike or KTM Duke 790? And why? 😄
Tough one. I’d prefer the 790 engine and stuff but I don’t like how it looks. I dunno eh. If I had to choose I’d probably take the Tuono. If I could have the 1290 or 1390 duke I’d take that hava
Great video! Planing to trade my Mt07 for 660 Factory soon
17:43 it weights 169 kg dry (189kg wet). Damn you were pretty close if you were meaning dry weight.
I think you can tell after riding so many different bikes eh
181kg on the factory version wet
My friend I agree with you because this bike I also buy one very very good performance ID to you I will buy FX 150 cc aprilia from Bangladesh
I never knew there was a tuono 660 only thought there was a rs660.
Im in the u.k ill have to do some digging
Exellent video,thank you
The pricing you mentioned is odd - here in the States I can get a brand new Tuono 660 Factory for $10,999 but the MT09SP goes for $11,499 ...
I’m not in the states
Excellent review, how is the knee room on the 660 compared to the V4? I’m 6’2” and considering both bikes.
The 660 will be a bit more cramped
How would you compare the Tuono 660 to the Aprilia Shiver 900?
I’ve never ridden one sorry
Is the NZ dollar worth half of the US dollar?
Why 2023? This model was launched one year ago, isn't it?
What are the differences between 2022 and 2023 models other than colors?
Nothing that I know of
I have a 2021 Tuono 660 with the IMU and quick shifter added. Also, I have had the stock suspension set up for my size and weight. I rides very nice but, I have been looking at the factory version. The only difference would be the suspension upgrade. Have you ridden the standard version? And do you think the suspension upgrade is worth upgrading from the standard?
I have bought the Factory version. I've ridden the normal 660 and it is a day and night difference. Not only the suspension is a big difference, but also the additional horsepower and different front sprocket. I would buy the factory to be honest.
Additional horsepower? They are the same
@@captain_midlife the factory has 6 bhp more in the uk, not sure about else where though.
what the hell are those prices bro, in my country the factory one is like 11k $... and 2k $ cheaper than the 09 sp
These prices are NZD, check your exchange rates. Also why he's driving on the left.
@@mterry2utube oh ok, so it's not us dollars :)
@@alext.8356 Correct. Still expensive, mind you :)
@@mterry2utube at first I thought it was from the UK and was wondering why a brit would put the prices in $ (was thinking maybe it's a youtube thing) :)
very cool
It’s dirt cheap in the us. Any hand numbing at speed? 👍🤪🇨🇦
Not for me.
Oh wow, just hit play and already I want one. I mean the big V4 is on my list too, just not sure I'm ready for it yet :)
Can't wait to watch you thrash the nuts off this thing haha. 🤩
I went from the V4 Tuono to the 660 and at first, I was on the fence. After I found out how to set up the electronics I was much happier with it. It has an awful dead spot between 5,000 and 6,000 rpm. I find second gear to bog and passing cars at relative slow speed and if you need power, it is not there. I don't know what the gearing in second is, but it is not good. Once I set the Dynamic settings the way I like them the bike came alive. I only ride it in Dynamic, but second gear still sucks. You have to ride it between 6,000 and 10,000 rpm that is the sweet spot.
Is the speedo in kph or mph?
Kph for sure
Yep
weird seeing people ride on the wrong side of the street.
Lol, depends on where you live 😊
Turn off the TC and you get the absolut feeling of the bike 😉
Mt 09 are too uppright, Tuono 660 more sporty and fun
I'd rather get the new Street Triple RS
Me too
Here in Germany you can buy a Tuono 660 Factory for around 10.000€ and the Street Triple RS for around 13.000€. And if you buy a nearly new Tuono 660 Factory you will pay under 10.000€ - so that should be considered when comparing this one to the Street Triple RS or the MT09 SP (14.000€ in Germany), it's in another price range ☝. You pay 3.000-4.000€ less for the Tuono 660 Factory and that does not sound as a bad deal to me 😉
This is a phenomenal bike just not for that price point.
How do you mean that ?
@@tomm3230 it’s not worth the price they are asking for it. It shouldn’t be so high
@@allmyscars9039 how much does it cost in your country ?
Bought one 2 weeks ago they're an epic all round bike
@@freshfruit23 I'm waiting for the 2023 Tuono 660 Factory
😅....!
.
pro tip: sell the bike, buy a van
Dont compare to much with your own bike…. Who cares?… just review and test man. Thanks for the nice vid anyway!
Jesus rip off
Those prices are in NZD my dude, the bike is about $10k USD
