- Опубліковано 25 вер 2024
- Aprilia have two new fantastic middleweight models in the line-up for 2021, the Tuono 660 and the RS660! Both these bikes use the same basic engine & chassis platform so the question is which one should you buy? Time for a back to back comparison!

I am not going to buy either but I just love watching you hooning in these reviews. 😂
Haha thanks 😊
I don't even ride motorcycles but I love seeing these machines in motion and tested..
That is the question waiting to be answered. Street Triple R or Rs or Tuono 660. And you are the man to give us that answer.
Bro ignored you
Don't buy a Triumph. They're a shitty lottery. Some people seem to like theirs, but mine was a steaming pile straight from the factory.
RS is perfectly judged package I can't see how they'll build them fast enough 👍
Totally agree with your thoughts on the quick shifter and blipper. A must have on most motorcycles, makes riding so much more fun. Both bikes are great, nice work Aprilia! Awesome video as usual!
I'm gonna buy a RS660 next weekend and this video is telling me I did the right choice. Thanks homie.
Tuono is on promo at the moment 8k. Ordered one with the quickshifter and IMU for 8650 total. Tuono for me much more comfortable.
Couldn’t help but notice while you were talking about both, you kept saying you would prefer to have the RS while you were on it and just kinda cruising. But then when you were on the tuono you couldn’t stop giggling and twisting the wrist. And that’s what I’m looking for. Tuono it is for me
I had a 105hp Street Triple as my first bike - scared the life out of me when I accelerated too hard on a damp road! TC is always welcome for me, especially on bikes aimed at newer riders.
I've never used my 'from new' 1290 Super Duke R in the wet as I don't want to get it dirty ....!!. plus it cost a bloody fortune........👍👍🇬🇧
Agree... TC saves us.
@@schwartz4074 Jesus saves us .....!!!!.😬
@@bakedbeanzontoast9078 indeed my fellow Christian 🙏😊
Maybe traction control can make the saving/meeting a bit sooner/later?
Great review Chops! I have the Tuono 1100 V4 Factory '19 and love it. I see the attraction of both of the 660's.
Glad someone has done the comparison. I'm having this exact dilemma. I want the more sporty version being the RS, however the silver/red/blk paint scheme on the tuono is much more appealing to me. Here in the US the RS is a little more difficult to find at dealerships because they sell out almost immediately, so pre-order is a must. The proper wind screen on the RS on the open roads in the US may be more helpful with a mid-weight bike. Flickability is really nice to have and could be life saving in certain situations I've noticed, my prior bike being a scrambler. The quick shifter and auto blipper would also be nice to have standard. The price difference, always nice to have lower price but now I suppose I know why. Still can't decide arghh...
I want either of them but I'm very concerned about the reliability. Now if Japan would copy it, say Yamaha. Then with the wheelie control & build quality I would sell a body part to get it. The RS660 is gorgeous.
I ride in Bay Area and need fast & flickale
reliability? my RSV outlasted my CBR by 20k miles.
@@2pist As a Honda and Aprilia owner, that is awesome to hear
I used to be indecisive, now I’m not so sure 😂. Great to see the back to back. I’d have thought with the IMU and quickshifter blipper that the RS is probably better value and as you summed up for the road the Tuono and track types the RS. Look forward to the STR vs Tuono comparison. Good work chops 👍🏻
What are Aprilia doing? The pricing is all wrong. I wanted the Tuono but its such poor value in comparison. So for £450 less you lose the IMU, up&down quickshift, better suspension and the extra fairing bits. Madness!
@@astrostrotch I think it might be better to get the RS then put higher clipons.
Thanks for the comparison review; two great bikes. I commented after your last Tuono review that it would be a difficult decision splitting the two - so it proved. I said on balance I’d take the RS for its enhanced electronics and the fact the riding position isn’t that radical for a sports bike. Your point about middleweight bikes with a good power spread in today’s camera-infested UK is very valid. However, I overlooked your point about the RS having more ‘space presence’ is equally valid; thanks. Lots of riders might feel short changed trading down to a ‘smaller’ bike, even though the engine and bike dynamics are bang on. Onwards and upwards for Aprilia, methinks.
Cheers again Chops great content. How's Womble faring these days, need a safe meet up with his T1100 as a comparison. Stay safe. Pete
These "smaller"cc bikes certainly make much more sense in the "real world". Us more maturer riders don't need the zillions of hp, all gets very scary too quickly. I will keep my Africa Twin and reminisce over my Fire Blade days.......KTM 890 R on order for those sunny days!!!Great videos LCR , who needs a tv licence with you guys.
I love my 790 Duke and thats after years on litre bikes. So much more engaging on the road
@@bazza8947 must admit the Tuono looks very nice ...BUT love the quirky “up yours “looks of the KTM . Just hope it doesn’t puke it’s engine contents up!! Reliability and all that 🤞🤞
@@gsd32i What reliability issues? Oh wait, I've had the valve cover gasket, dash, steering lock replaced under warranty haha. New swingarm coming too lol. That said, all for cosmetic reasons and nothing that has left me stranded. Bike is a year old with 6700klms on it
@@bazza8947 that makes me nervous ! Oh well , hope the 890 has been subject to updated /improved parts then.
@@gsd32i Nah don't be nervous and they haven't improved lol. They are minor issues in reality and nothing that will leave you stranded. This is my first KTM and I knew about issues with quality control before I bought it. My bike was made in Austria but this means nothing in terms of quality control. My steering lock didn't work and they clearly never checked it at the factory. Warranty has been very easy here in Australia anyway
As I'm old and like touring the tuono would be a bit more upright and comfortable I hope but test ride will tell. Stay safe everyone 👍
Take care and have fun, brother!
Great vlog thanks Chopsy, personally would favor the Tuono, wonder how it feels against the Street triple with 20ish bhp more.
It will feel slow, it's not only down on power, it's alsow down on torgue...
Really great overview LC. I was agonising whether to change my order from the RS to the Tuono. You've settled my mind on the RS, many thanks. Only challenge now is getting a delivery date!!
It's a no brainer. ..the RS has quickshifter, auto blipper and a imu for, presumably, lean angle ABS and TC.
I have to admit, so far the RS660 is the best bike that came out this year in my book. It's a real looker with the fairings, great sound, presence, plenty of electronics, great with the options included. Great riding position that is biased to sportsbike which is awesome. It is expensive so it's tough to say whether I'd get it.
Its not a sports bike lmao
@@derekobs9688 I'm only saying the riding position is more sportsbike-like. What type of bike would you call this?
@@derekobs9688 it... quite literally is a sports bike though...
Both seem to great rides , personally they both should be IMU equipped , your going to have a great time testing all those bikes thanks LCR
Chops - You have made me love this Italian even more!
Yes both fantastic! Wouldn't mind a rs660 myself actually..
@@LambChopRides Be perfect for the Isle of Man roads. If we can ever get back there ?
@@LambChopRides Mine would be the Tuono
The ergonomics are exactly why I'll never sell my zx9. It's more than enough power for me and really comfortable to boot.
Brightened up a Crap end of the working at home week. Cheers Chops. And, excellent video again.
You were born to review bikes, could watch your videos all day, thanks for doing what you do!
Thanks very much Andrew 👍
Brilliant! It’s never a bad place to be if you can’t choose because they’re both excellent... 👍👍👍
Which of them felt least cramped chopsy?
Man, after sitting on some super sports and then naked, I was leaning towards the naked but then heard about these two and they seem like a nice balance between the two. Too many back problems for a super sort. Been saving up to buy a bike and fixed my parents old harleys up to get some time on the street and get my actual M class (USA) license. God speed to you man, appreciate the insight into these two similar machines :)
I personally like the looks of the rs way more, they both seem like sweet rides though.
Yes I agree the RS is the looker. I own the Tuono 660 and it was a comfort thing. My first real street only bike and I ride to work and for pleasure. The up right seating was the deal maker. It is a very fun bike.
You know, both bikes seem almost identical in performance, for me it's be the Tuono, simply because I love the naked street bike looks over the pure sportbike looks, I don't do track days any more but I'd be quite happy taking the Tuono on track, think it's have to have the quick shifter/blipper to get the best out of it on track tho'!
Great vids Chopsy, keep em coming!
Great vid 👍had a test ride on the RS awesome but my choice will be Touno for comfort if you can get the same specks as the RS quick shifter and the rest . At the moment dealers haven’t got a clue what you can or can’t add on to the Touno. So anyone seriously thinking about
Purchasing one of this bikes I would say wait at least 4 months! If you thinking about PX make sure you shop around as WHEELS MOTORCYCLES offered me £2000 LESS for my bike compare to other two dealers !!!!!!!!
So I guess I made the right choice! 🤩
Great video Mr Chops, much fun! 🤗
Brilliant comparison video, think the RS has it on looks
Soon be time to get the H2 superbeast out Chops, now spring has finaly started to sprung!!!.👍🇬🇧
Yeah won't be long! Need to crack on with jobs I need to do.. needs MOT too!
Any plans to compare rs660 with the street triple RS? Thanks for the good comparison here!
Love the air box noise👍
Man, I just bought my Honda Fury last year. Now videos like this are really making me want that RS660. Guess it's time to buckle down and save so I can get it maybe next year.
Top notch comparison Mr Chops , really enjoying these vlogs , quality 👍👏
Another great video. Just what I needed for a Friday morning!
Love the video editing! Very well done sir.
With the IMU/quick shifter being an option on Tuono, I'd go that direction I think. Really the bikes are just a choice of full fairings + clip ons vs semi-fairings + better final gear for street fun.
Love my quick shifter and blipper. Won’t buy a bike without unless it’s a classic 👍
So what's your current bike?
@@Dranreb865 bmw r1250 gsa
Took a Tuono 660 for a test ride today, very nice bike and very flickable, great mid range and more comfortable than my CB500X.
more comfortable than cb500x? What year is the honda? Now you got me questioning my recent purchase.. :P
@@grtbgf I find the CB500X seat far too soft. It's a 2022 model. Thinner padding on the Aprilia suited me better.
I don't really like a sport bike. I'm kind of a naked bike person. And as a new rider. The Tuono suits me. It's a naked in a semi sport style bike. Saving money for Australia's release. And buying extra for the quick shifter. It's a must for me. Yes! Subbed. Cheers.
Another great review chops, real world info keep them coming 👍🏼👌🏼
Thanks Michael 👍
Thanks Mr Chops - interesting Comparison with these Two Bikes - Obvious Solution is to put the RS660's Fairing on the Tuono lol.
Great review. Thanks! I prefer the look of sports bikes, so it’s the RS660 for me. I’ll have to get the restricted version since I’m a beginner rider, but once I’ve graduated to an unrestricted license, it’s just a matter of getting the ECU reflashed to remove the power limiter 😎👍🏼
It sounds like stability control with IMU standard with RS but optional with TUONO?. KTM offers IMU’s down to their 390.
Great comparison pal.. loved the idea of these bikes since they were launched. For me, someone unlikely to go on track I think it would be the Tuono 660.. so far I'm a naked bike fan tbh.. But I'm 28, been biking on middle weight bikes 7 years now and not owned a faired sports bike yet..
So the RS660 could be a great first faired bike for me.. but on the flipside I want a Speed Triple RS 1050 which one of your other videos made me fall in love with! 😍
They both look and sound so good. Tough choices there 🤔...The RS has it on looks........just.
I anticipate the the Street Triple will be Harmony compared to the Aprilia’s Unison 🎶🔊. Bring it on.
Great. Many thanks for the review 👍
I adore the RS. I don't think I'd settle for the tuono around that price anyways so might as well get the better looks and extra tech.
£500 you get an 6 Axis IMU with all the electronics benefits, quick-shifter, better front suspension, debatably 5hp more.
RS660 is arguably better value for money...
Agreed 100%. The RS is far better value for money. One has to wonder if you could put a straight bar kit on the RS660..
I have thrown a leg over both of them. As I am 45, the RS might be uncomfortable in the long run, but it's better value as you say. I see you have a Street Triple like me. Though I really fancy these two bikes, I'm not sure whether I'd prefer either one over a Street Triple RS..
Thanks again for another great vid pal. RS660 all the way for me. Just need to find my local dealership now to sign up 😁.
Both brilliant bikes and horses for courses. Nicely done mate, interesting to see the comparison with the Street Triple R
Looking forward to the next installment!
Great video were is Gregory 🤣i would go for the tuono over the rs stay safe chops looking forward to more videos 🇬🇧👍
He will be back soon 😁
Cheers for the thorough breakdown choppsie ! It’ll have to be an rs 660 then . 👍🏻
I have broken tracktion on my 15hp Aprilia RS4 125 when accelerating. The road had invisible sand and when i shifted to 2nd my wheel started to spin.
Fantastic review as always. Man I miss English roads!
Very nice vid. Looks like your leading the way with these 660 reviews & comparison Chops. It's the RS660 for me. The Tuono should definitely be cheaper than it is with no IMU, quick shifter or blipper etc. Also should be lighter with more low down tourque to clearly differentiate it from the RS660.
Thanks buddy 👍 yeah agree with you on that one
Funny, just fitted a translogic quickshifter to my GSXS750, it does add to the sense of occasion and fun for sure! Not fussed about the blipper though, it's more fun doing it yourself but def agree IS a toy that's nice to have (like my S1000R had) . I think the Tuono has a deeper more gutteral tone by comparison, seems to from the videos anyway. Another great video Chops! 👌😎
Even though I prefer large tall adventure bikes, both bikes look and sound amazing.Great informative video Mr Chops..keep.up the hard work. Stay safe.
Thanks Simon 👍
A tuareg 660 with the same engine is coming, an adv set to compete with stuff like tenere 700. Can’t wait!
Great vid!! Both look great, hard to choose between them, but for track work the rs660 has to be the one! Aaron Knox
Yeah seems we are on the same page Aaron 👍😁
Awesome comparison as always. I like the way you have to knit pick at times ;)
So thinking about getting one of these but, I am 6’5”. How do you think it would look and feel for a taller rider?
Nice to see a review on English rds rather than American.
Great video Chops .... I Couldn't decide between the two . I keep going from naked to sports bikes, so sod if I had the money 💰 I would buy em both ..... 😊
Lambykins.... You are making me want another Aprilia
Do you think a rs660 factory might appear next?
I'd rather have the auto-blipper than a quick-shifter if I was choosing. 2k miles on my RS660 but I still do more manual shifting, especially up.
Yet another great video chops love both bikes I'll keep my mt10 at moment always a pleasure watching your reviews.thanks from danny
Great comparison, new-ish subscriber here, loving your videos in frigid Vermont, as I await Spring!!
One thing I have been curious about is why/how the RS has 5 more hp? Same exact engine, correct?
I put a deposit down on the Tuono 660 Factory, in no small part due to your videos!
Cheers!
Great review Chops, both bikes look very entertaining 👍 But the price puts them close to the Triumph Street Triple RS, which I think would have the beating of both of them 🤔
Man they are both great! It is all about preference. If your back can handle 2 hours+ on a sports bike get RS. If not get Tuono. But the Tuono is more nimble with better down low power. RS is faster up top. Both great! They left off the quick shifter and blipper to make you buy the Factory edition 😏. Just spend the 200 and call it a day.
GREAT REVIEW , THE BIKE SOUND FANTASTIC STOCK , HARD TO CHOISE ONE
Tuono more firm then duke 790? Good review by the way😎
I think your onto a winner with either bike and imho Aprilia are going to sell loads. Not sure if they would tempt me to ditch my KTM 1290 GT but they look and sound superb with all the right toys so never say never! - thank you Mr. Chops👍
Yeah I think so too 👍
Good video look forward to Street Triple R comparison
Basically the handlebars are different. You can change the fork oil if want stiffer suspension.
For me Aprilia have made a big mistake not including the full electronics on the Tuono.
The cost is £400 different, yet you're missing the QS/Blipper, the adjustable front forks, the ability to leave TC on and pop a wheelie.
I agree I was leaning towards the tuono for comfort but now if I get one I'll have to get the rs modify it to sit like the tuono and that's a pain when I could have just bought it the tuono
Excellent review Mr Chops, I was wondering how the Tuono would compare against the Street Triple.Looks like we'll all find out in a upcoming episode. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Mark 👍
G'Day Mr Chops. Well done. This was a very good video and the comparison between the two bikes excellent.
What are these two bikes? The RS660 IS the boy racer used for track days. The Tuono660 is the commuter, back
road scratcher around the twisty hills. Unbeatable. I'll take the Tuono 660 thanks.
Thanks Robert 👍
The RS660 would be my choice 🤘
Thanks buddy
We need Womble and Greg🙏🏻 Alway enjoy their appearances! Their opinion and banter are missed! As is Mavis. #TeamLCR
Thanks Grey, yes they will all be making an appearance soon after lockdown. Can't wait to go riding with them again, well appart from Mavis 🤣
Great video, loved your in-depth views. Have Ducati monster 821 love the look of rs660? Would I notice a big difference of power between the two.cheers
Top review, I own a Street Triple 675 & want to see how Tuono compares 😎
Tuono will be down on power and torque. Both about the same weight.
can't wait till the RS660 comes to Australia
Any chance of a Z900 review any time soon Chopsy?
I know it just came out but I really want to see your thoughts on the Triumph Daytona 660 vs the Aprilia RS 660
Would be helpful for me if you can do a back to back of the RS660 and the Ducati Supersport 950 👍
Ducati will be gruntier with a much bigger engine.
Both Good Bikes great review Chops
Thanks Scaff 👍
I would like to see you compare the tuono with the 890 duke.
Yes that could be an option later in the year 👍
Great vid as usual! Btw, do they come with low beam as well? ;) Like a broken record i must say again that out of these two i'd most likely investigate how much it would cost to swap top yoke and handlebar to the Tuono counterparts on the RS.
Great content as usual. 👍🏻👍🏻
Just signed up for an Aprilia Track / Demo day here in the US so I can make the decision between Tuono and RS😎. So hard to choose!!
Have a big cruiser but looking for something more nimble and capable in the twisties. Narrowed it down to the Aprilia RS and Tuono, Ducati Monster, and KTM Duke 890 R but I think it’s going to come down to the RS and the Tuono. Thoughts?
Been sleeping in my car on the week days saving every penny for the rs 660. First bike but I'm not a 19 year old jumping on a bike. Almost 30.
Bloody cyclists😡...
Quick shifter and blipper is a must, couldn’t agree more Chops👍🏽
RS660 would be my choice if I was in the market for a middle weight. Great review mate, roll on the next vids👍🏽
Great review! Trying to decide between these bikes. Did you happen to note any difference in the size/comfort of the passenger seat? Not a big concern to me, if it were I wouldn't choose either bike. Curious, though.
i own a 2020 mt09 which rocks my world but im torn between test riding the rs660 and the v4 factory.
Tuono got lower gearing, more grunt maybe??
Chops, awesome video, one question. How does the riding position of the Tuono 660 compare to that of the Tuono 1100? Thanks.
Very similar actually David 👍
After a naked "middle" weight like the monster 821, either of the z900&900rs, xsr900/mt09 ktm 790 duke, Is the Aprilla 660 in the same category?
Excellent review. Chops, If you had to pick one for long distances and touring which would it be?
Either could do it.. same applies 😁
