Hi Scott as always a well thought out and communicated review. I'm 64 years old and have been riding Aprilia Tuono's since 2008. My2020 RR Tuono is a magnificent bike. I have ridden H2's and KTM 1290's and while in a straight line they have more power nothing matches the handling and Torque the sound and pure feel that the Tuono provides. Also your never too old to ride the bike of your dreams just be smart about how and where you ride
I collected my Tuono V4 in Glacier White here in the UK last week from Kevin @Brighton Moto. It is superb, and aged 53 the bike is comfortable, smooth, super fast and looks just fantastic.
I sold my last gen Speed Triple RS and picked up the base model Tuono V4 last year. The grunt it has and the sound it makes keep a smile on my face every time I take it for a spin.
Yes, the extra inch will help. Thanks for a great report. I ride an MT-10. The acceleration, braking, and turning are incredible and I love it. But I’m going to add a much slower bike to my stable. These motors in the super nakeds are not happy at slower speeds, and if you rev them out, you are breaking the law from 2nd on up.
Yea so true. Supernakeds are made for track days, if I was going to start doing track days again, this would be the first bike I look at. take care, Scott
I have a 2019 Tuono RR and love it. I’ve seen race track comparisons where the Aprilia beats bikes with much more HP like the Ducati. The Ape does a better job with getting the power on the asphalt; feels fully connected to the road. Thanks for the informative update!
Hi Scott, like and Subscribed 👋🏍️ I just purchased one, the 2022 model in ultra dark, should be delivered in couple of days and I just can't wait to ride the bike in the mountains!

Thank you for the lesson in the correct way to pronounce the word “Ohlins”.. most people here in the USA get it wrong. Me included. Great production value on your video. Great information. And fun to watch. Keep up the great work👍
Nice video Scott. I have just bought a new 2022 Standard 1100 V4 Tuono as I find the higher bars make the riding position [for me] much more comfortable. I reach the grand old age of 60 this year and my old wrists will appreciate the extra comfort of the raised bars. Totally agree that this is still the top super naked and it continues to win nearly all the super naked shootouts. Take care Scott and ride safe.

This bike really makes me wish I had a nearby by Aprilia service center. I'd own one if I didn't have to worry about shipping the bike out of state for any repairs.
Same reason why I don't have one. I wanted the standard Tuono V4 but the Aprilia dealer near me has awful reviews. I just couldn't risk the after-purchase care on such a bad dealer.
Sorry, Mr., Apparently I am too dumb to get your real name behind these quite entertaining and well technically backed up information on some real iron on wheels. "Every day is a good day, mate, watching some of your stuff"! Keep at it! And judging from you not holding back laughter taking that colorful moto for a ride, it certainly is plenty of fun. But to me, from the front with all the "candy" fairing and the tiny shield, ain't not a proper naked, thus agreeing with the other commentator. When the roll-out starts, please check out the Guzzi v100, a real heart-stopper! All the best, be safe, Torsten (Germany)

I just happened to take out a HD Softail Slim out and after 100 yards on the road I knew this was what was going to be in my garage. Best decision I’ve made, love riding a motorbike that I can ride on the road without worrying about my licence
I just realized that I was beginning to keep my drives short with my beast. I want something with more comfort and something that can do more than just go ballistic fast. Collecting my ZH2 in 3 weeks. Still exciting but that bike is more versatile, more refined and with japanese reability.

Agreed! The thumb nail is just click bait 😁😒 But to a certain extent I did feel a little old on this bike, like it was no longer built for me and what that leads me to this conclusion is my lower back and arthritics in my neck. Which I didn't have problems with until a few years ago and at 55yrs old I'm right behind you. I'd still own a bike like this no problem, I just would not put on as many miles on it as when I was younger. take care, Scott
@@NothingToProve Thanks for the reply. Yes my current ride is the Suzuki Hayabusa and the 2019 Suzuki Katana. I've been so in love with that bike that I ended up uprgrading to the Evo, which I got last month. I'd say that even the sheer figures you displayed seem to support this conclusion, if one looks at power and torque and their respective RPM. Cheers ✌

@@NothingToProve Thank you for the clarification. Recently this very motorcycle model has been on my radar possibly being my next addition to the current stable. After doing a lot of research in Aprilia Tuono forums and viewing several Tuono reviews, I've found that these motorcycles tend to have various electrical issues, but more so I've found that the engine tends to develop leaks. The Aprilia RSV4 and Tuono V4 Factory's are beautiful, have more than adequate power, and sound orgasmically intoxicating, however reliability is always at the very top of my check list when it comes to a future purchase. I've been stuck on the side of the road a few times with Ducati and swore off all Italian brands after. I guess that promise will continue to stand...unfortunately. 😥
Hi, well, they are very very close, both are at the top of their class on a track day and going fast on the street. The RS is a little lighter and "newer" but the Tuono has that V4 that is hard to beat. take care, Scott

I've yet to hear a reviewer talk about these things with Aprilia... It would be refreshing to hear a real verdict vs off the showroom floor.
@@NothingToProve hahaha I understand, not taking a shot at ya, but everyone says the Aprilia Tuono is the best, but so many owners report significant issues over normal length of ownership that to me don't equal best.
@@chadgruver4423 Yea, I know your not 👍👍😁😁 I've heard that too but until someone gives me one or Aprilia gives me one, I can't answer the "long-term" reliability question, sigh, I wish I could.
I've owned 4 Aprilia's. 3 of them were Tuono's. Never had any issues with any of them. Parts are easy to get (before covid) but you really dont need much but oil and filters.
@@markwoolard3315 good to hear, I hear and read many more that have different experiences. Before and during Covid. I have a riding acquaintance who says his Aprilia experience is like yours, but he has 9 bikes and hasn't had an Aprilia ever with more than 5k miles. So that doesn't really count. I hope you have put some sizable miles on each of yours behind your testimony, maybe 5-10k a year each, keeping them 3-5 years?
It really depends on the application in the bike. For example, I love the MT-10 motor but not the S1000R motor BUT both are 4cyl in-line. Generally don't like Harley V-twins but do love Indian, Moto Guzzi V-twins and Aprilia & Ducati V-4s...and Honda's when they made a V-4, so much so that I owned the VFR800 for a period of time. take care, Scott
Well, in my experience, the Japanese generally are slower than Aprilia, BMW, Triumph, KTM, specifically - supernakeds. I've not ridden enough Ducati's to have an opinion (over-all on Ducati), hope to change that in the next month though. Been on several Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha but not very many Suzuki (with QS), so I can only say that with the exception of Suzuki due to lack of experience. BMW really depends on the motor, in-line 4's have great QS but boxer or parallel twins = very slow. What's your experience with QS on Triumph? Have you tried the RS, speed or street? It's very fast, slick & smooth. take care, Scott
@@NothingToProve I’ve ridden almost all of the brands’ naked except for MV. Currently owning a BMW R1250R(2019) and yamaha XSR900(2022), my brother owns a Ducati Supersport 950s,(2020). I’ve test ridden the speed triple 1200 RS in the sports mode, but the QS upshift seems so slow its like an automatic box from a car. I’m not sure if it’s changeable in the menu. And yes, I agree it is smooth😅 The downshift is faster but still on the slow side IMO, maybe I’m just not reving it enough. Boxer engine’s QS upshift is fast but very rough and needs to be around the red line to work good. Downshift is also fast but still rough. Ducati, Yamaha are smooth and fast IMO. Kawasaki only ridden the small zx250r, which was also smooth and fast. Honda and Suzuki never ridden a bike with QS. Just personal experience BTW
I ride a 2017 all Black 1290 Superduke with full akra and i am 62 its perfect even at only 5ft 7in, having moved up from the 2015 version, just don't like the new 2020 version style at all, waiting to see the mk4 in future. but the aprilia its not a naked in my opinion.
Well, once you understand the Tuono started the supernaked group over a decade ago, then one by one the other OEMs got on board, you will probably come around to the understand that it is a supernaked...just not naked. Truth be told I don't think it's naked either but it is a supernaked. An RSV4 stripped down with higher bars. take care, Scott
The Tuono is a great bike but I'd much rather prefer the MT10 for sport touring. Yamaha have got The ergonomics right whereas the Aprilia is too cramped!

On day you too may come to be formally educated on Germany/German and then you’ll understand. Ohlins is German and I know this because of the little tattoo on the top of the O in ohlins, which is only done in German because of Hitlers distaste for the overweight letter that is O. He had planned to send it and a few other letters to the camps but he ran out of time and resources toward the end of the war. I know this because I saw a UA-cam short about…well you know what I’m going to say.

Well, if you'd like to buy me one, I promise I'd do a monthly review of all the issues that I find 👍🙄😁🤣
Too old to do what you like or want to have FUN?
I don't believe that should apply to anything whilst still breathing.
AMEN .......
What do you prefer? 4 cilyndre in line or in V....
It really depends on the application in the bike. For example, I love the MT-10 motor but not the S1000R motor BUT both are 4cyl in-line. Generally don't like Harley V-twins but do love Indian, Moto Guzzi V-twins and Aprilia & Ducati V-4s...and Honda's when they made a V-4, so much so that I owned the VFR800 for a period of time.
take care,
Scott
@@NothingToProve thank you a lot
I almost get the impression you like this bike.
👍👍👍
Your too old when you can no longer twist the throttle! Fast and sexy as hell, cool review. Cheers.
Still no blipper? Dude!
Nice toy to have a play on!
Aren’t the quick shifters on triumph extremely slow?
How can that be any better than the Japanese?
It's very fast, slick & smooth.
take care,
Scott
@@NothingToProve
I’ve ridden almost all of the brands’ naked except for MV. And yes, I agree it is smooth😅
The downshift is faster but still on the slow side IMO, maybe I’m just not reving it enough.
An RSV4 stripped down with higher bars.
take care,
Scott
Love these bikes but not sure how anyone can afford them.
Just a pity it does not look like a naked at all... KTM SuperDuke R... that is how a naked looks...
Yea, so true...
I am to big for it 😭😭😭
The Tuono is a great bike but I'd much rather prefer the MT10 for sport touring. Yamaha have got The ergonomics right whereas the Aprilia is too cramped!
Yea, 1290SDR and MT10 have the best ergo's of all the supernakeds. 👍
I thought Mr Rogers was dead.
Only thing is its not a naked

Sir it’s not ewwlins it’s oLenz I have watched a UA-cam video summarizing a written summary of the Wikipedia page about Germany so I am a bit of an expert on the subject matter and it would behoove you to take note of the good deed I’ve bestowed upon you in sharing my wisdom with you.
Yea I was trying to make you laugh that’s all
Ask any woman 😂👍
LOL .... Mine said "EVERY INCH counts" ..... 🤣🤣🤣😂😁😎
And still no fuel gauge!!Lol
It does have a fuel gauge. The RSV4 doesn't.
O -Lins not oooh Lins rofl
Yea, I guess I pronounce it the German way and not the English way. But he is from Sweden with a German name, so I wonder how Mr. Öhlins pronounces it.
Well my old German teacher told us an umlaut 'O' was pronounced more like 'er', so 'er-lins'. But it's a Swedish name isn't it, so goodness knows 😁
😂😂an inch make a difference ask any woman
Lol doesn’t make any difference 1 inch ask any woman😂😂😂👍
