This song mean's the world to me.
My stepmom was very important to me and my childhood. Helped pull me out of a horrid situation.
Life happened, we grew apart. Though would still meet up when it was physically possible. With or without my siblings.
Then I got the call. It had been about 15 years. She wasn't likely to survive the next couple days. I hauled ass cross country; spent a month at her side. Working night/swing care.
The hours I spent laying on the sofa next to her bed shooting the shit. As this song rang in the back of my head.
This is a wonderful version, close to the version I sang in my head.
I really miss her.

The way you go from calm and gentle to emotional outburst is always such a gut-punch in the best possible way. It always feels like this person has been trying to remain calm in a "I would really like it if you stayed with me. Please?" then the dam breaks and they're like "F**k it, I really can't lose you, you are my world and I'd have nothing if you left."
I got similar vibes from your "What Could Have Been" cover.

You going the softer, gentler first half, slightly more energy for second chorus, back down for the bridge, and then HIT us with the last chorus. Gorgeous as always.

"Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol came out in 2006, when I was 16. I ended up buying the entire "Eyes Open" Compact Disc maybe two years or so later. This song brought back a lot of memories. Working at McDonald's, listening to CDs in my car every chance on my breaks, driving to work, driving home.
This cover is particularly good, Jon. Gave me goosebumps at timestamp 1:58. The echoing effect is a cool choice, I love how it's different enough from the original to stand out. So much passion when the heavy metal sound comes in! I was floored. Rock on Jon, you are amazing!!!!!
I've always loved Snow Patrol. I have 4 of their albums that I've collected over the years and I really like this cover. Jon did a good job.

Years ago, my youngest Son would lie down on the floor with me, holding my hand whilst listening to this song. It was an amazing moment in both of our lives. He is 23 now and it's a memory we both cherish. Whenever I hear this song my answer is always, yes, I would lay down with you. It's a beautiful song and you did it well ❤

Yessssss, such a payoff, I knew it was coming but it was like listening to it for the first time. Ahhh.
One of the most romantic songs ever created, in my opinion. Jonathan, the passion and joy you bring to your art is amazing to behold. (Wipes away a tear before running off to Spotify to obsess for a while.)
The second half is definitely my favorite part. Please don't take this in the wrong way, but I just kinda wish you hadn't added so many effects to your voice for the verses in the beginning. Your voice is so amazing, and I feel like all the special effects in the first couple minutes kind of detract from it. The chorus and the end are amazing though. Especially when you went from all amped up to pretty much everything but your voice stripped away, the raw emotions in both of those juxtaposed takes were so powerful.
On the 17th of June last year, my partner of many, many years lost her struggle with cancer. I couldn't be in the room with her because COVID. Her favorite song was Chasing Cars, and in fact it's what I played her to sleep with. I think she would have approved of this cover.

This was an absolutely stunning rendition of one of my favorite songs. I love the sheer contrast between the almost lo-fi like beginning; relaxing, contemplative, almost synthetic with how metered out the verses and syllables were. And then the latter portion was just filled with so much raw emotion, a truly human outcry of passion, almost desperation to feel like you belong; shouting out to the void for someone, just anyone willing to hear your voice. At least that's my interpretation. Thanks for the feels!

There it is: the Jonathan I fell in love with. You never left, but this style of accessible melody and smooth clear vocals, a la “Echo Chamber”, “Alone”, “Walked a Mile”, and “Bait”-or even most of “Starship Velociraptor”. Goodness, Jon, you’ve got a wonderful ability to convey emotion with range (beyond varying levels of aggression). Love it! Keep it up!

This was mi ex's favourite song. She got it from some show about doctors. I was never really into that series but since it wasnt a big deal to me, ill just join her whenever she was watching it. Man, she really like it. But most of all, she liked when i went visiting her with icecream and a coke. Specially on rainy days and the appartment all to ourselves. Simple things. We were happy. Maybe we didnt had that much in common. Many discussions would ouccur. But still we loved each other so much. I was such a coward. I shouldve fought for us...
