The anodized aluminum is supposed to be painted black, including the little vertical strip on the rear side window. I do love my 1992 300D and it has 204k on it and drives like new.
@@juggnautbitch as someone who has several om60x engines I know what mechanical injection sounds like. These engines are notorious for lifter noise when they sit. I definitely hear a ticking which is above normal mechanical injection noise here.

I hear lifter tick... That's what happens when you don't drive these and let them sit.
That's not lifter tick, it's a mechanical injected diesel, these were never quiet.
