Great video man, my friend gave me his 300E witha M103 in it because he didnt know much and it had overheating issue {he didn't know these cars run hot) so after i do some cooling upgrades might be turboing her
9:19 So my co worker built a turbo 190E or so and he eventually pushed so much boost that the boot there that connects onto the intake of the kjet/bottom part of the intake manifold without the kjet pops off. The next step would’ve been to weld on a flange or something for the boot and clap to grip on to but I don’t think he has done that yet. There was also apparently enough blowby that it shot out the little wimpy Mercedes dipstick lol
Oh wow - I’ve heard of this issue with the kjet. Being that I’m sticking to 8-10 psi, I’m figuring I won’t have that issue🙏🏼 - part 3: turbo install and startup drops tomorrow

I bought my first car probably 10 months ago, a ‘08 smart fourtwo pure, which serves me well on my commute, and I think I’m about to buy like a ‘93 gold on tan 190E with one of those sohc m103 engines for a good price because it needs an ignition tumbler, reverse clutches, a passenger mirror, and probably some more, but the interior looks really nice. I’m pretty excited considering I’ve replaced head gaskets, sealed timing covers, and that kind of stuff on those motors on at least 6 or 8 of those cars, and now I’ll actually get to own and drive one.
Yes the fuel system is stock - I did increase fuel pressure by adjusting the EHA valve 1/4 turn and then adjusted the fuel mixture using the idle adjustment on the CIS system.. I’m also reduced my spark plug gap specific to turbo application - I believe I talked about this in the dyno test video
I can say I love the results, totally new beast now with 260whp … probably more as it could only get 7psi on the dyno… but I see 8-9psi all day on the street
I’ve had no issues. I used an NPT fitting and didn’t tap any threads into the pan I use the fitting to make its own threads and also use some sealer. I’m pretty confident that I won’t have any issues. Call me lazy but I didn’t want to drop the pan as it seemed like a major project. You should check this link as this guy found a great way to remove the oil level sensor and get access to the inside of the pan for putting a nut on the fitting ua-cam.com/video/upbokYYdDKc/v-deo.html
Compression nut fitting is definitely the best way outside of welding a bung.. I did find a few examples of people doing it my way. I’m confident in it holding

So your not modifying the ignition system or adding a split second controller. You just adjusted and are using the stock cis ?! This gives me ideas as I do not want more computers and wiring to boost a cis mercedes engine. I have a 300sel with a m104.981 swapped with a 5 speed manual and it’s fun as is, my 560sel though would like 6 psi of boost!
Absolutely you can do this with an M102. This kit is designed for four and six cylinder engines up to 3 L. And you can follow basically the same build process that I’ve done with my M103.

Congrats ! at wide open on the afr you want to read 11 and 14.7 at idle it’s common to lean out when letting off the throttle. Did you reduce your spark plug gap to .028 and increased fuel pressure via the EHA valve 1/4 turn?

A 7lbs spring will keep the waist gate pretty Much closed until you hit 7psi of boost..however you can run the boost controller inline with the waist gate boost reference to trick the spring to produce less boost or more boost depending on whether the controller is plumbed to the top or bottom of the waist gate … this is best video I’ve found to explain ua-cam.com/video/hYIL_XvlYTE/v-deo.html

Love seeing other Mercedes focused channels and cool content like you're making, I have some unique builds on my channel as well if you're interested (Manual swapped C55, E420 etc). Nothing wrong with a turbo M103! You're very right about the type of videos you normally see on turbo'd versions of these, typically there is not much of a road map in video form so good to you doing that here. I've got a 300ce 24v black with black interior. Looking to add a pre merger amg body kit. I would really like to add a wide body kit like the hammer do you know anyone thats sells the widebody kit. I know I can use the 500e front fenders but its the quarter panels I cant find. Can you help.

It could be a daily as long as you do the right things. Currently I’m needing to replace the head gasket because they are known to be bad even in the naturally aspirated form. Mine finally let go so now I’m getting ready to install a multi layered steel one and some better head studs. If you have the time and the funds, it’s definitely worth doing this in the beginning, but I have more of a drive it till it breaks and then fix it better philosophy.

Hi and congrats again on slick install. Accounting for all costs (those included on your parts list plus those not included) how much do you approximate? I am asking because I want to try it myself on my 89 300E. Thank you.
The turbo and manifold total $1200 USD including the shipping, the oil feed adapter was $60 ish, 2 silicone hose for Turbo to intercooler pipe and then pipe to throttle body were $40 each. 3 Gauges were $100 each but you could find better pricing depending on what you purchase. Add another $150 for random bolts, oil, filter, etc. .. the exhaust is a whole other deal as the pipes, muffler, tips, v band etc were $600 and my friend hooked up the labor … also I basically bought all new black silicone hoses for intercooler to achieve my desired aesthetic at $35 per hose .. the turbo kit came with red hose .. the black hose kit had silver pipe .. so I could have just dealt with what was provided… so I’m in roughly $2500 ish
Stock ecu 💯 - this is how they would do it in the 80s, you could order a similar setup from the dealer - runs awesome! 260 WHP and 280 torque @ 7psi, I’m running 9 psi
Not at 8 psi . Kangaroos team, who I got the manifold from says that at eight psi the stock fuel management handles it no problem. No modifications are required to the throttlebody

Actually I am working on a gauge install episode - I put them by my knees in the dash

Correct - you can turn up the fuel pressure by adjusting the EHA valve and then balance the AFR on the CIS

@@AutoAfflicted Ah, I'm idling at around 13 and 13 under wot. ?__? Yes plugs at .028 and 1/4 turned my EHA.
Dial in that idle and see how it goes

Correct - all M103 engines & M104 engines - the only difference would be the exhaust manifold possibly

Thanks for this serie, but you are wrong about the M103 12valves (stock), it can handle more boost than the M104 (stock)
My research showed 8psi as the maximum boost the CIS system could handled.. consistently get 9-10 psi though … I’ve not experimented with more

Now that this first goal has been achieved, proving the stock management can support boost. That could be a great next step.

It blows clean enough to pass emissions in my area, you can alway put in a sport cat or standard cat
