How to replace the interior carpet in a Toyota 4Runner.
Give your 4Runner a clean and updated look by installing new interior carpet. In this video, I remove the old dirty carpet from my third generation Toyota 4Runner and install a new, pre-molded carpet purchased from an online retailer. The installation is a simple process. It did require the better part of a Saturday to complete, but the end result is a clean carpet and a new-car smell.

If all goes well I'll be attempting this feat on my 4Runner soon. I just hope I can remain as calm as you did. I mean afterall it is quite a big job you did there. Great job!
Great video very helpful.
I came across 97 4-runner in salvage with carpet in good condition very little ware for 15.00.
Cleaned it up with SuperClean degreaser , water hose & minor scrubbing.
End result was like new carpet.
Easy install was had using your video.
Thanks for posting it!
You made it look easy as hell....thanks for making the video, great job!
Thank you for taking the time to produce this video. I used it to help me replace the carpet in my 2008 4Runner.
Glad it helped
Sweet! Just what I was looking for! Planning on selling my 93 4runner and wanted to clean it up a bit. This video gave me a lot of confidence in replacing the carpet! Thanks!
thanks for posting! was looking for videos of taking apart the interior so I can "soundproof" as much as I can.
Thanks for taking the time to do this - really appreciate it!
Thank you! Very helpful. I will be replacing the carpet in my 97 landcruiser so I am doing research.

Impressive
The back seats in a 1994 have the same two bolts in front, but then they are still fastened in the back of the back seats ! Cant see it or reach it ... Any advice appreciated ! Thanks
Hello,
Just came across your video. Very helpful. I have the same interior in my 1996 T100. May I ask what color is the carpet?
how much did you spend on this project?
Where did u buy this carpet ? I need one for my 97 4runner
Thanks for posting this! just one question, have you noticed any difference on the noise level while driving? I'm wondering because the original carpet looked a bit thicker and more insulated than the one you replace it with.
Do u guys have a GMC Sierra 2003 carpet?
i did this carpet change last night. i am having a hell of a time reinstalling the seats, when bolting the rear bolts first the front doesn't line up with the holes and vice versa? did you have any trouble when reinstalling the seats?
+Jeffrey Silva The only issue I had was finding the holes. Try screwing in the front bolts first, but only screw them in a little bit so you can still wiggle the seat around. Once you get all four in, then tighten them down. Also make sure no carpet is getting fed down into the bolt holes. Hope that helps.
How much time did it take to complete this?
I need a change mine and thinking about doing it myself. I'm pretty nervous about it. Think it can be done though as long as the carpet is a good fit.
Go for it; it's not too difficult. :)
I'm replacing the carpet in the same model 4Runner. I liked that there was a pad underneath the gas and break pedals on the new carpet to prevent wear. Where did you order the new carpet from?
+Maggie Reilly Stock Interiors
Great!! how did you give form to the carpet?
It was pre-formed when I purchased it.
Very nice job JoshsWorld.com ! Can you post where you purchased your carpet replacement from? I am going to do this same job on my wife's 1998 4Runner. Thanks in advance!

wats the fan for , below pasenger seat, front ??
Wait a minute. How did you get the driver side kick plate sown into the carpet?
Must be nice to be able to use a normal ratchet to get seat bolts out. I needed a torch, grinder, 24in breaker bar, a can of PB blaster and two days to get mine out my Bronco.
haha! yeah, sounds like I have it pretty easy.
Sounds like you were righty tightying haha
Well you have a Ford so ... 🤷🏼♂️
Josh World = OUCH..lmso
Did the 4Runner come with black leather seats on them or did you have them upholstered?
This vehicle originally had gray cloth. The black leather was added by a previous owner.
I have a land cruiser 1991, I was thinking to do the job myself but I guess I will not make it...it will be very difficult to put all the things back in place 😥 ...it guess I have to pay...😕
I have a 2000 4Runner. When you put the new carpet in, it APPEARED to be molded with humps in the right places. Was that because you had in the vehicle once before you shot the video, or did you actually mold it some kind of way?. Did you use any padding? I wonder if you could use regular carpet padding? Hope you can respond. Thank you for this video
The carpet was already molded when I bought it. No padding. Next time I do this, I will add the noise dampening material.
+JoshsWorld.com Thanks for reply. So I guess you got the carpet designed for a 4Runner but you still had to cut or put some holes as you did in the video. I did see online some places that sold carpet for specific year 4Runners but I thought the holes and cutouts were already done. I think it was priced around $150 or less for front and rear passenger area and another $100 or so for rear cargo
I guess its almost the same procedure in a 2nd Gen 4Runner.
I couldn't find a video on how to replace the carpet in my '96 Accord so I followed this one and really messed it up. Can you please send me a video on replacing Accord carpet? Thanks
4 bolts for the seats??? I'm calling my local pick n pull right now. Thank you!
Atta boy
where did you buy the replacement carpet from? did you buy it from a dealership or mail order supply?A reply would be great thanks.
Stock Interiors, online.
Where did you buy this carpet from and how much it cost you . Did you sprray glue before you put the carpet or you don't have to.
I suppose that this man does not like to answer questions. Only those who interact with the viewers get to have a large number of subscribers... to each his own!
Late reply, but you can get carpet on eBay, costs a pretty penny though
You should wear a dust mask when doing this.
You're right! I didn't notice how much stuff flew out until I saw it on the video.
after watching a few of these is the carpet replacement almost moulded into shape to sit in or is that done by yourself?
It is already moulded. It just needs to be trimmed.
So if I was to do it to a BMW e30 316i, I would need to get specific carpet?
Isaac Tennant did you buy a molded carpet or did you make one your self im think in of making one myself
Ian Lomas It turned out the bm didn't need it replacing, the add was the matts looking grubby!
Good job, convinced me to do mine. ..I started to contract it out, but no!
Dave Johnson good luck... it's pretty simple
JoshsWorld.com How long did it take to complete the installation? contemplated for the longest time...Though about getting it done at tge local shop, 6 bills for carpet and 3 for installation. Again outstanding job!
Maybe 3 - 4 hours. It will probably go faster for you because you have this video to show you all the steps! :)
That's the blower for the rear climate control.
hi how are you where you get the new carpet
oo i see.whn i turn key ON, it starts.may b i shud unplug it.
Where do you get a premolded carpet like that ??
Stock Interiors.. It was around $300
would it work in a ln106r hilux
I purchased the carpet from Stock Interiors. You will need to check the website or contact their customer service to verify fitment.
The interior looks similar to my '94 FJ80.
You have a sweet ride! 👍
@@JoshsWorld We certainly do! It has a nice lift on it as well with the limited lockers. But I need to take out the carpets and wash it and both our power front seats need fixing because they're seized!
P.S. We were able to fit 10 people in my rig with a custom back seat bench w/ seatbelt as well as a custom middle front bucket seat. :)
Did u use any gum to stick
Would you ever change that purple looking color.
I didn't initially like the color when I bought the truck, but it has grown on me and now I actually love it.
@@JoshsWorld Mine is the same color and I'm going to paint it first chance I get. The color isn't my cup of tea.
Thanks for watching. If there is a difference, it's not noticeable to me.
Sweet vid. I need to figure out how much and how hard it will be to change the carpets in my 88 4runner. They are supposed to be grey, but they are mud brown, and the trunk area's carpets are eaten away partially from an old car battery falling over an spilling acid. lol.
When you get that bolt in fornt seats you can't bolt them again
God your so funny , how in the world can you cut a moulded shape and refit in a short time. Did you reshape the surface separately, then sewn together ?
Thanks for the video! Good job! For those looking to purchase replacement carpeting, I bought mine at www.stockinteriors.com. For my 2005 Lincoln Town car, it was $302 for the plush, ($70 extra) and mass backing ($54 extra), and shipping ($33). They sent me 4 color samples in about 2-3 days. I'll be laying down some Dynamat, and Dynaliner before I put the new carpet down. Hopefully I can do a video as well. I do recommend extra padding/insulation, as the replacement carpets do not come with any padding.

You skipped over the underwear wiring, whole reason I clicked this vid

Let’s face it. Carpet in cars is disgusting.
Whoever is holding the camera needs to learn how to hold it cant keep it still racket is annoying asf
This video was recorded by a nervous elderly man having a seizure during an earthquake, my apologies.
