  • This is the first carpet kit I've ever installed. I learned a few things in doing so. It didn't come out perfect but I feel this is a job anyone can do if they want to.
I got the carpet kit from www.ocautocarpets.com/
The price was reasonable and the quality was very good. It took about 2 weeks to deliver. Overall a good experience.
I got the seat panel clips from Toyota. They are available through aftermarket as well. Factory part number 90467-06102.
    Tools needed are basic.
    I used a milwaukee 12 volt bit driver wit a 1/4 adapter.
    A metric socket set.
I did need a 12mm wrench for the top portion of the rear seats.
To cut the carpet i used a cheap razor blade from harbor freight. The carpet cuts with a razor very easily. Makes shaping it very easy.
Check out my gear store and pick up a shirt, hoodie or many other items to support the channel and bring more content.

Thanks for the part number on those clips, my dog ripped one of my seat backs off! Thankfully I still have the old carpet in mine, I can just trace when I get the new one. That stuff is called cowl board, by the way. Most hot rod shops & etc. use that thick abs plastic now.

Thanks for the video, I appreciate it. I will be doing this soon to my 4runner along with laying down a sound deadening layer before laying down the carpet. What color did you use for the carpet from OC Auto?

I would suggest ordering samples before buying lol. So to make sure it works for you. I made that mistake a couple years ago an listened to a couple guys on some 4Runner forums. They said they really liked the 4640 saddle. So ordered it and it literally looked like sh!t lol. But I had it all taken apart waiting for it so went ahead and installed it anyway. So here I am now again redoing it lol. I went with 8655 sandstone from stock interiors. Love it with my oak interior. It’s a little darker than the original color so hopefully will hide stains a little better

I have a great idea 4 you since you said it in your video.... I have a 3rd gen v8 4Runner and was wondering if you could do a video on putting a turbo on the 4.7 engine or 1794 interior inside a 4Runner

Were the wheel wells hard to do?

The wheel wells were the easiest part. They are pretty well shaped

I got mine from stock interiors and my wheel wells are not shaped very well at all. The rest was. That’s why I’m here looking for some tips on them. I’ve tried them every which way. The basic shape is there but when putting them in place they don’t sit down all the way. And from the form of how it’s supposed to fit each side don’t match up with the other. I dunno. The rest was easy but struggling to get these in a good place and not cut too much

    What happen to the hooks?
Did you go back and popped them back out?

I'm sorry. I'm unfamiliar with what hooks your are talking about

    • @meskobe
      @meskobe 2 роки тому

I believe he's talking about the rear cargo area, where the hooks attached to the body are accessible through snips in the carpet.

There is another video on here somewhere cuz I recently was looking also. They actually clean up really good if it’s just dirty and not damaged. Takes maybe a half hour to pull out. Just be careful with the four clips in the middle or you’ll have to reorder them like I did lol. Also you don’t need to remove the two handles on the pillars up front to get it out. I cleaned mine up with a carpet cleaner from autozone. Don’t use any kind of brush or it will damage it. Just a old towel or something you can spray it and rub it clean. After I got mine cleaned up I noticed it had a lot of scratches in it. Of course no one will notice. Except me lol. So I ended having it redone at a local upholstery shop for $150. Came out awesome and don’t regret spending the money. But like I said they really do clean up really good and easy

I just removed mine and was pretty easy. Just don’t damage the four clips in the center or you’ll have to order some new ones like me lol. Also the handles on the front pillars don’t need to come off to do it. As far as the leak goes I would check to make sure all your screws are in tact on your roof rack. I somehow ended up missing two which is where my leak came from. Also the drain holes around the inside of the sunroof. There are four total one in each corner. Clean out that inside part and then run some thick weed eater line down the holes to make sure they aren’t plugged
