Thank you! Used this formula on a few stairs of a new rental property we just acquired....Wow, what a difference just using a pressurized sprayer and wet/dry vac........Now I use this formula to pre-treat all the carpet, agitated with a brush, let sit for awhile.....and then use a steam cleaner with plain water........as cleaner left in the carpet can attract more dirt....no need to buy those over-priced liquid rental machine cleaners😎

I just used your formula, but I used about half of the Ajax on my living room carpets (I didn't want too much foaming action). I made sure everything was wet, but the bad stains I put on more and scrubbed it very well. I rented a rug cleaner and only put plain hot water in it. My light tan (previous home owners choice, NOT mine) carpets are like new. I had a "professional" carpet cleaner in last year and he didn't get the carpet anywhere near this clean. I'm SO grateful for this! Thank you

I want to express my deepest gratitude for your miracle mix. My mother has end stage dementia and entered hospice. we are dealing with moving her out of her house.People who suffer from dementia sometimes don’t take the best care of there household and her poor carpets were absolutely filthy. It was going to cost too much to get professionals in to clean the carpets and I have a machine. Off to the dollar store I went. To my surprise your mixture made her carpets look brand new. @@z.woolley8895 I didn’t flood it. I did put extra on the spots where I had stains and let it sit for 30 mins - a few spots I just let soak and hard ones I did scrub with a brush to really get in the fibers- Then I put the solution in my carpet cleaner and cleaned the floor with it. It pulled the stain and cleaned the rest of the carpet wonderfully. There was a few spots I had to spot treatment a few times. Like I said it was a rental unit and had stains for years. Then I went over the whole carpet with my carpet cleaner once more with just water. I didn’t want to leave the solution in the carpet. I hope this helps.

DUDE! I watched this video a few months ago, maybe even last year. I bought the ingredients as per Julio's instructions and they sat in my garage collecting dust. I had a bottle of ice tea break in my back seat and stain the floor. THat's what I was originally going to use the solution for. BUT I didn't use this on that. However I did use it on my son's F150 today. HOLY TOLEDO! I wish I had taken before pictures ( and smell-o-vision) to give a comparison. Well actually there is NO comparison. Long story short. The previous owner had dogs which rode in the truck. Despite vacuuming several times (even with scented baking soda carpet cleaner) the smell just wouldn't leave. So today (a rainy Michigan afternoon) I tried the solution/technique and WOW! The carpet and seats look BRAND new and smell amazing. I love you guys! Thanks so much for all you do.......Namaste!

Wish I would've seen this video years ago... my sister had a ford escort and the previous owner let the dogs loose in the car. Many failed attempts to get rid of the smell. Heater core went out and I fixed it for her. Tore the dash, console, and front seats out and told her, "if you want to seriously clean this carpet now is the time" probably couple fistfuls of fur inside the center console alone... I'll never buy a car that smells like dog after that

All I'd do differently is try to suck up as much of the soap as possible before putting rinse water on the carpet. It will make the rinsing less of a job. Also, use white vinegar in the last rinse, when the rinse water starts looking pretty clean. It will get all the soap out. The smell doesn't last. I do this when I shampoo my carpets.

Great video!! My son-in-law works at an auto wrecking yard, we buy cars -CHEAP- fix them & sell them (at cost) or sometimes give them to local single working parents who just need a little help, & a 'new' car. We tried this on dirty carpets, it WORKS PERFECTLY; we are going to be using this from now on! THANK YOU for this video!!!!

Hands down the best video on carpet cleaning anywhere and trust me I've seen and tried a lot. Thank you so much for this. I actually used this recipe on my carpet in the house and it works beautifully. I was just about to buy new carpet too...and now I'm thinking I actually like what I have because it's clean, spot free and looks practically new.
I have about 5 of those angled vacuum cleaner tools that I have saved from all of my vacuum cleaners over the years. I've never once used those darn tools and I have no idea why I saved them but I'm so glad I did.

I have a black lab with a rogue tail that has knocked over quite a few drinks off the coffee table in his day and this cut through it all. Great recipe and technique shown. On the third lap, I'm still getting brown suds from the driver side footwell, which makes me think the car has never been cleaned. For seats, I removed them and used the mist setting on the sprayer...lots of dark water collected. I made 2 batches so far, it cost me pennies, and works far better than other more costly products.

I tried this on my living room carpet this last February. I had bought a good steam cleaner and the solutions that they recommended (and others) weren't cutting it. So I scaled the solution down a bit to add to a spray bottle and sprayed it on the carpet after vacuuming. Then I used a brand new push broom to work it into the carpet fibers, added a little of the solution to the steam cleaner with water, and steam cleaned the carpet. I did go over the carpet with just water again and tried to get most of the water out. I'll be honest....it did take some time as it does when you steam clean. But it was hands down the best cleaning solution EVER for my carpet. They have never looked that good! I'm getting ready to do it again as I have pets. Thank you SO much for sharing your cleaning solution! It works!

I hauled several bags of wet leaves to the landfill in the back of my SUV. I didn't realize how wet they were and one of them leaked disgusting brown leaf brew all over the back upholstery. The dark brown stains were terrible. I tried a normal hot water scrub vac and that did nothing. Just found this video and today I mixed up the concoction and followed the steps. That's pretty cheap even though it sounds abused. But I bet it'll be a good runner if the body is in good condition. Transmission might be the one weak point to watch out for. Not sure if you have the V6, but in my opinion it's the better engine. However for the V6 you'll want to replace the LIM gasket with an all-metal one if it hasn't been done yet, and the MAF sensor can make the car sluggish while not throwing codes. (LIM is a tear down job, but MAF is easy & relatively cheap to deal with.) Have a Grand Am in my case, but it shares much of the powertrain/chassis. Hopefully those tips will help out.

  • @janitplanet

I did this to a used car I just bought. The carpet was dirty in some areas but not too bad. My biggest reason for doing it was the car came with a smoke odor, so I'm trying to clean as much of the car as I can. Thanks for the simplicity of this video and using products many of us have at home. Removing the seats and carpet might be easy to some, but having never done such a thing, it would've been too intimidating for me.

Saw this video the other day and decided to try it on my carpet at home. I have white carpet that has some hard to get pet stains from an elderly cat. I had been contemplating getting a commercial shampooer because I thought my regular one wasnt good enough. I already had all the ingredients on hand so I gave it a go.
AMAZING results!!! Pet stains, oil stains, mystery stains all came up with ease.
**When I made the concoction, I mixed it up in a 32 oz water bottle. The next day I found the remaining had turned into a gel. Still worked when I used it to clean all my rooms. I plan to keep a bottle of pre-mixed cleaner on hand for future use.**
Thanks for the video, you've saved me SO much $$$

@@cozzigota I own a carpet shampooer/ cleaner. The regular detergent that goes with it only gets regular dirt out. Repeated messes in the same spots left a ghost of previous stains that wouldn't budge. This concoction allowed me to shampoo it right up.

I don't have any fancy tool as you say, so I just bought a brush kit for the drill BUT I went super soft with it because I was afraid of soaking the carpet (and some videos say that if it's wet it can get mold). I think I just need to test if my vacuum can suck up all the soapy water!!!!! Thank you sir!

I have been doing this EXACT same method since 1996. ALL my friends thought I was crazy for soaking the carpet. Great Video you just received a new subscriber ♥
I just bought a repo (04 Durango) that has beyond awful stinky, filthy carpet so I'm going to go to the extreme this time. I'm removing all the seats, center console & whatever else needs to be removed to take the entire piece of carpet out. Lay it in my driveway, spray on my very own cleaning concoction using a gallon pump sprayer. Let sit for a couple hours, scrub it with a brush, then spray with the hose to rinse. If that doesn't do the trick nothing will.

If the carpets are really dirty, I'll take the seats out and remove the carpet. (Not hard to do on many cars.) Solves the extractor issue as you can just hose the carpet down instead after you do all the scrubbing. Also, a lot of cars are very dirty where it is hard to get at between the seats.

    • @SweetProjectCars
      @SweetProjectCars  7 років тому +3

correct....but most people can't remove their seating so we show them the alternative thanks for the great question and comment it is great for the whole channel :)

I think as long as you can extract or towel up most of the liquid, it’s probably okay unless the rug is very delicate. Try testing it on a hidden area first to be sure. Normally oxyclean is used in the washing machine, and flushed out with the rinse cycle. Probably not good to have too many chemicals hanging about in the carpets, especially if you walk around barefoot, have kids or pets that seem to put everything from the floor into their mouths (even their own feet, lol!) I’d maybe use a little less oxyclean, and an extra water rinse afterwards if I tried this on my home carpets (which I will eventually) just to be extra sure nothing lingers, but that’s just me. Good luck! :)

Now THAT is one hell of a trick. Sparkly shiny. Will have to give this a whirl and see what it can do for myself. Been about a year or so since I last cleaned my car...I think it's about time.
Curious though, say if I were to do this to carpet in my house, would that harm the wood underneath?
