Its a great tool-watch! The buckle is the worst part. 4R is reliable, design is outstanding. And you all hate on the hardlex, but it out-preforms all of my watches with sapphire? And it is more shatter resistant? I would rather have hardlex than sapphire on my dive/tool-watch.
Finishing looks better than my 4th Gen monster. All of the design elements seem really well thought out. The bracelet looks great to me. The handset is the perfect size. Overall it looks great.
I like the size and look. Will definitely leave it on the bracelet. The Swiss are just greedy. This looks better than anything Hamilton does, and I can see this as a more sensible purchase over a Tag Heuer Aquaracer.

The case profile is pretty amazing especially from the 3/4 angle! And the size really seems to hit that not too big and not too small balance. Glad that we're seeing more monochrome watches too, it's just classic
Yeah its a super cool case, leave it to Seiko to create an angular case with such a comfortable underside! But yeah I agree, theres something so pleasing about a black and white diver nowadays theres always a need for some sort of flourish so its a nice change of pace to see a clean simple color scheme
I'm tired of hearing these enthusiasts criticize the diver extension. Having a diver extension on a dive watch is akin to a powder flap on a trench coat, a bayonet lug on an M4 Carbine, or an anchor on a submarine. These features are retained for tradition and to remind people that this is a functional piece of equipment, not jewelry. Additionally, as a surfer, I appreciate having the option to use the extension when surfing with a wetsuit. Keep the extension, Seiko, you're doing great!
Seiko value has never been gone. I suggest you check out the video by Marc from LongIslandWatches on the topic of Seiko being expensive or not. Short summary: No. It isn't. MSRP is in line with the MSRP of the past, corrected for inflation. It's not Seiko that got expensive. It's your 500 dollars that got ever more worthless. :) That said: nice video. Nice look at this watch. I'm eyeing it, but I have the SBP317 already and, well, I shouldn't.
I love the case shape, but hardlex, 4R, and stamped clasp are a bit off-putting at this price. Haven't been able to find it under £560 in the UK. Closer to £400 and I could probably convince myself to pick the red one up
I feel my recent Seiko splurge has been a result of new models popping up. The new Marinemaster "made me" hunt down an SLA023 while this release prompted me to snag the last King Samurai from one of my local ADs.
W Hamond were already offering me it discounted down to £468 if you want to give them a shout...just add it to basket logged in and someone will contact you
First, I like your "Ronin" nickname 👍. I actually like this new one. Looks very cool and handsome. Always like the unique, to Seiko, knurled textured grip of the Samurai and it is nice to see carried over to this new model. Overall I think a more refined Samarai.. enough differences that it is really it's one thing and not necessarily like a Samurai 2.0. Good note to point out on the lugs if switching to a strap or NATO. Visually, there seems to be too much visible inside the lugs unless you have a thicker strap to fill in that space.. which is a bummer as it will likely make NATO-style straps to any passthrough less likely to look as good on it as on other watches. Something to consider as I like a variety strap changes. I like the crimson version. I would still really wish Seiko would lose the ugly cheap looking dive extension mechanism on their clasp. It also prevents the watch from laying flat dial side up without some weird hump and unbalanced position.
Wish Seiko would go to the trouble of making their bracelet end links actually fit properly. My Sumo suffers this too then I look at most of my other divers and the bracelets appear as though they're part of the watch head which looks so much better
Beautiful watch. The aesthetic overall is militaristic. Indices look like bullets and warheads. Choice of font for the bezel numerals is similarly suggestive. It's a pity bezel action isn't as nice as I expected. Also seems a bit pricey without saphire.
Radio Control/Solar has only been out since '05. The south park vs family guy 'cartoon wars' was '06. Radio wave makes everything else obsolete. GPS might be over kill, however.
It’s 100% a Samurai. Has the same sharp edges on the lugs, knurled bezel grip and overall same bezel and dial design with some tweaks. It can’t be a Shogun as it’s steel not titanium.
Very handsome watch with a great sporty case design. Love almost everything about it tbh but the deep rehaut bugs me a little. Looks like those alix “seiko mods”
Yeah the case design is well balanced like most other elements but I agree, it was a little irritating to see the sloping rehaut being so visible! Not sure why its needed considering both the case and the dial are unique to this watch

I like this new model, but have to agree it's not a true samurai successor. I have the shu iro red/gold samurai and the "armored" case design really makes the samurai to me.
Yeah its a great watch just needs a new name! a fellow commenter mentioned that Ronin was being circulated, it suits the watch. The original Samurai is a special watch, there isnt anything else quite like it!
What’s wrong with hardlex? I know it’s not sapphire, but i have had no issues with beating the snot out of watches with hardlex and not scratching the crystal up.
@@AndroBoy17 the only time I’ve scratched a hardlex crystal, i was prying on a crowbar and my wrist went flying towards the brick that the building was made out of, I OBLITERATED that watch on the brick and all I got was one scratch on the crystal. Otherwise i have a Samurai I wear often at a physical/manual labor and the only scratches are on the metal. I’m not saying it doesn’t scratch easier than sapphire, but they’re still fairly durable.

Hardlex is not much worse, but even better regarding shattering (elasticity) Bracelet is significantly better than on the predecessor.. Seiko movements are all crap compared to Eta / Selita or Hamilton - but good enough and cheap to service / replace
I absolutely love watches, the high end watch brands are out of my budget but the amzwatch has literally an almost duplicate of every single watch on the market . Always a great but no matter your budget.

This is better than the Samurai but can they make this smaller to around 46mm lug to lug please.

I like the design but you didn't show the stamped clasp, or mention the hardlex crystal. Two major negatives for a price in the UK of over £550

The minute hand is a sword as in Samurai sword. The minute indices are bullets.
