Beautiful and so romantic. 💜
Another fascinating Pathe film !! 👍
the music! though you can only hear it in the background it is really beautiful.
That was lovely
lovely
This video is when my mother Eileen Smith of Colchester married Leon Petulengro. They were divorced after 2 years. Neither of them were real gypsies. Father Xavier P was a friend of my grandfathers.
His real name was Walter Lloyd-Smith.
Hello! That sounds very interesting. Why were they pretending to be Roma? I’d really love to learn about them!!
I did wonder
@@dominichenderson9549
I could write a book about it.
But another relative of the Petulengro family who lived in Spain asked me not to.
Barbaric Romany rites?! Oh please.
"and the strange romani language"...
I know ! It’s crazy how ppl didn’t think exactly the same as we do in the 1930s ! Ffs
This is real nice stuff.
Far classier dressage and way than modern gypsies weddings.
I have never seen this before and its beautiful.
Not dress like this for gadji anyway this is not real and these are not romani just actors
@@richardboswell9306 Us Romanichal Gypsies are legally Egyptian/Gypsies in Scots and English Law, because that's how our ancestors first presented themselves as in England and Scotland in the early 1500s. x

My grandpa is Romanichal if you watch this on mute it's beautiful. Racist commentary.
They all headed out to the fields to do the true Romany wedding and do 'the BARBARIC Romany rites', that is an example of British reporting, prejudice and blatant racism.
My thoughts exactly. 😠
Jenny j this isn't real this iis vintage my big fat gypsy bullshit for TV
@_ Kali kaski san
@_ Kali Never heard of it among English Romanies--except for the Continental Rom from eastern European countries.
@@herecomesthebling utter drivel gadgie. x
@rikboswell my nanna was a Lee and her Grandad was Randal Lee brother of Rainie who married a Boswell.
Er, this is nonsense, right? These are actors. My ancestors were Romani, Boswells. The father of bride! More like her younger brother ...
The father of the bride (my mother Eileen Margaret Smith) from Colchester was my grandfather Joseph John Smith. My grandparents were not at the wedding.
I have seen my mother’s cousin Edna among the onlookers.
This is a not real, it's a movie
Are you real. Go back to sleep
@@billcooney945 your off your trolley if you actually think this is real
@@JustmyopinionSublickThis was almost 100 years ago, don't you think things have changed?

The Romany traditions and ceremonies are not much different than handfasting and jumping the broom/fire. It was almost a perfect wedding (too bad about the priest/church).
Our traditions are far older. x
The term "Gypsy" is disrespectful and wrong. They were treated horribly and during WWII 600,000 we killed in Concentration Camps. The proper term is Rom.
No its not from means man hun
Plenty of romanical are fine with gypsy. You don't speak for them
In England we are fine with the word Gypsy 👍
Barbaric romanic rights.... 😑
Nice movie 😂😂😂😂 lol ...... but its fake. Romani people don't do this . ❤from Indian 🇮🇳 living in Europe
You're Indian, not Romani
Yes, I am not Romani. I am Swedish but North Indian origin. Romani's don't cut their finger and mix their blood 😂😂😂 that's why I said it's fake.
@@tm-vg8rx And how do you know?
I am in touch with Romani people from Europe and India.
