    So much of “how to be a good data analyst” is just “how to think like an autistic person.” Every day I’m shocked that this isn’t how everyone’s brain works. 😂

    I graduated with a degree in philosophy, and although I was captivated by the multi-faceted view of reality that this experience gave me, I felt a lack of agency and sought something to compensate for this deficiency. Then I became interested in Data Analytics. I obtained a Google data analyst certificate on Coursera, but I feel that it's not enough to start a job. BTW The French philosopher Henri Bergson (who, incidentally, corresponded with Einstein) argued that reality is very rich and that essentially all scientific disciplines, as well as other forms of knowledge, show only a fragment of reality and that people have a natural tendency to simplify and favor the perspective closest to them. I thought it was funny because I felt that I sensed these nuances in your film, especially when u were refering to the reports and dashboards trap. I really enjoyed the content.

    As a former senior business analyst at a Fortune 100 software firm, this methodology is very practical. Especially in a waterfall methodology. This approach is a great aid to understand larger scope for scalability. Great video and fantastic points!

    As i leading data analyst i can say that:
    - Do not waste your time to watch tutorials
    - Work on your own portfolio and do not hesitate to start building it asap
    - Agatha's notes all true (Sometimes it is really hard to find what the stakeholders actually want)
    - Learn how to learn properly for not facing complexity specially when you learn statistics.
    and etc.
    And when you finish you career as a data analyst switch into data engineering. As it is more interesting for most data analysts rather than writing SQL queries and creating dashboards.

      @agathakang  9 місяців тому +2

      Agreed, watching tutorials only does so much and the portfolio and hands on skills is what will get your career started!

    "Obsessed with customer..." that's Amazon.
    Btw, what's the avg % you spend on cleaning data/data quality?
    One of the best vid about DA so far in 2024. Thanks.

    • @agathakang
      @agathakang  6 місяців тому +1

      haha yes that's definitely the Amazon culture. I would say about 10% of my job is on data cleaning as most of the data is streamlined where I work but you will still find data quality issues here and there. Working with big data, I spend more time on data aggregation and exploration. Glad the video helped!!

      Thank you! It really helps if you think about who your audience is when improving communication. I came across this helpful article: decoded.medium.com/10-steps-to-improve-your-data-communication-and-1-toavoid-d32a1020395 and would also recommend the book storytelling with data to understand how to communicate with data

    This is one of the best tips on how to stand out to be the best data analyst I have seen on UA-cam. Thank you so much Agatha, this has given me the confidence that I can be the best data analysts once I embrace this tips with more practice.
    I really admire your knowledge, may I ask if you would like to be my mentor? I am a data analytics newbies, just completed my 7 courses and presently writing course 8 capstone project to create my portfolio as my last course with Google.
