Wish I had more time with my own mother and did more with her, this was so heartwarming.
Jess, you're so fortunate to still have your Mom with you.
From multiple trips to New Mexico and Arizona, we have loved visiting ancient sites with pictographs and petroglyphs. The symbols are quite beautiful, and it seems really appropriate for your rock painting project. Even bigger rocks could be welcoming symbols outside when approaching your lovely dome.
Rock painting ideas: rainbows, stencils, marbling, glitter, symbols that you like, your dome, galaxy, mermaid, ladybugs, butterflies, dots, cacti, geometric shapes, animals, glow in the dark, leaf prints, tree of life, swirls, seashells, quilt, negative space, emojis, constellations, & metallic!
A couple of ideas I have thinking of the painted rocks.
Maybe when you celebrate holidays with family, or any get together with family and guests over, you can offer them to personalize 2 or more rocks of their own, one to leave, one to take with them. This way they have a memento to take or trade with ones you have created, and can leave you and Jim a memento of their visit. You can make a Family and Friends Rock Garden of sorts, which can grow with every visit. Hopefully you can seal them so the weather won't destroy them, or find a place in the house, like window sills or wall decorations.
You can also make some painted rocks to auction on your merch site as well, maybe some Crew footprint rocks!
I love seeing your Mom on here, she is a beautiful and creative woman. Those painted rocks will always remind you of that time well spent bonding and sharing.

paint a family photo around the build like a collage and your favorite bugs and animals so even when you don't go out it looks cheerful.
Try doing photo transfers on rocks, make sure you use laser jet printed as opposed to ink jet, transfers better and holds up over the years. Good job you two!! 😁
I paint rock dot mandalas. You can make heart shaped ones. Also, I found a heart shaped rock and painted. Then I melted crayons and dripped them onto it. Maybe you could do one with your guys thumbprints and Crew's paw print.

Given I'm from the Welsh Marches area, for me Celtic symbols have a strong connection to my roots. So, I would go with the Celtic Shield Knot because it is an ancient Celtic symbol of protection.

I'm sure someone already said it, but what about painting dates on the rocks ? Like birthdays, the date your parents got married and when y'all got married. Any date that you would look at and bring a happy memory. Of course the rocks would also be painted with flowers, hearts or something that might reflect the date. 🤷♂️
Paint some AZ desert animals/critters on the rocks. Don't forget to paint one of Crew! Loving the house so far!
We live on the open deserts of New Mexico and I think a small rock mosaic of a sunrise or sunset on your wall would be nice, maybe with a light focused on the sun

I really like the blue bottles for the new window, it looks striking. How about “Love and Laughter” for words for the rocks if you haven’t already painted them. I think both of those words represent you two. I was thinking putting the date of establishment somewhere on the build would be awesome too. Not necessarily on the rocks but incorporated maybe by the entryway. Have fun and let the creativity flow.

Lumurine Calender is starting this year paint some on you're stones....earth...wind....water....fire.....stars consolations inside in patches of blue could use illumnus paint so stars shine at night up in the dome....in the middle coming down make a hanging mobile made from crystals with it being so high you could make something really amusing even with your glass bottles a central light fitting....if you could get a cart wheel or make that shape and fall down in 3 like a shangalier you could use bottles put light bulbs inside them I love you're blue bottle's but I love blue......awesome you're windows love to you all ❤
Like Sunday Morning News gets all kinds of different artistic Sun designs, you too could have lots and lots of suns all over inside. It would be very cheery!
How about painting some of the critters on your property? ( Even those not on your favorites list. Put those by the door so they remember their boundaries. 🙂) Love the window and the intentional creativity you've envisioned for the inside.
Have two thought of using that pile of rocks to build a heater/stove for the dome home? Looking great so far!
That's a verry good idea if I might add if you do decide to do that a guy could test the rocks by putting them in fire before building with them as you wouldn't want one to explode as it would be better to do that outside rather than when it is in your home in use ! ✌🏻 Elements elements!

I've always enjoyed the serenity prayer it was a favorite of my mother and is also loved by my daughter's.One of my granddaughters painted and hand lettered the prayer for her mom and myself ❤️
You could paint different herbs on rocks to put between the inspirational rocks that your Mom made. ❤
How about painting some local flowers, plants and animals on the rocks? Your wrens, thrashers, quail and coyotes would add local character. Don’t forget the lizards also. You could even name the rooms like Thrasher Hall or Buttercup Loft. Have fun.
Years ago my team at work was splitting up and one member of the team painted rocks for all of us. They all had the word "gratitude" on them in different script. I kept my gratitude rock on my desk until I retired, then brought it home where it now lives on my desk here.
You could paint a picture of crew on one of the rocks that way he'll always be part of the dome. It's a sad fact that our pets don't live as long as we do.

I love the technique of using two colours on the brush at once. Never thought of doing that. Reminds me of an April Fools joke played on my ex once. The boss sent him out to get some striped paint. We still laugh about that. Live. Laugh. Love.

in finland we have those stones as door stoppers. you make incredibly beautiful animal paintings, paint animals. elves. fairy. wonderful things in the world.

When you were connecting the beams in the loft, why not use angle iron to attach them? The plates on the bottom limit attaching anything on the bottom, but angle iron on the insides wouldn’t limit bottom attachments. Say 3” by 3” steel angle even 1/8 thick, cut with angle grinder about 4 inches long could be bolted thru the beams and not too expensive.
Or if you are looking for *really* inexpensive angle bracing grab one of those used folding bed frames that are all over the place and use an angle grinder to cut pieces to size as needed.
You can add sacred geometry paintings to the rocks. Flower of life, seed of life tree of life etc.

There are a lot of Native American tribal sayings that are quite inspirational and soul calming that you might research for your rocks/boulders (🙂).
You seem to be painting the flowers of the desert. Maybe you could paint the insects like the dung beetle-determination or some of the stunning butterflies you have shown us-beauty?

Rocks painted with outdoor scenes that have meaning to you. Like for me I moved from Utah, I would Delicate Arch from Moab Utah and a silhouette of the Wasatch Mountains on the east side of SLC. A travel log of your favorite places. Any really beautiful rock could be sealed with a clear seal, that will bring out the highlights
Native history in your area is a source for words, symbols, and imagry.
There is a clear marine varithane that has a UV protection. That is what I use to protect the rocks I paint, from sun damage and fading. I thought the rocks your mom did were so similar to mine, yet mine are all vegetables, and a few flowers.
I like Angel's and the smiles they have, the wings remind me of comfort and joy. I like the nativity scenes...always reminds me of his love. Hope tomorrow the right leg is better. We give a small aspirin, a treat, and massage our dogs to see if any bumps are a concern. We have acupressure book for dogs...helps to look up when needed. Burning the wood is nice to see. Glad you got more water saved. I look forward to see the bottles placed in the next window. So glad to be following your shares.♡
Crews paw prints on rock
I like those colorful rocks with words.... those are going to look so nice inside. It kinda made me think about seating with large slabs of rocks.. painted around their edges with sayings. Maybe something built-in against a wall or maybe something built on natural twisted wood from old growth sage or cedar from around the area.

FLOWER GARDEN ROCKS. I love flowers, especially coneflowers. SINCE YOU ARE IN THE DESERT how about making a flower garden out of painted rocks. This way you would have flowers year round.

Those rocks (the unpainted onens) you can put them on the contour lines around the property, every 50ft or so it will slow the water enough to let it infiltrate into the ground!
