Subaru Sportshift Setup

- This Sportshift setup is a combination between the shifter assembly found in a JDM/EUDM Forester, and the paddles out of a JDM Legacy. The TCU (transmission control unit) that controls all of this is out of a JDM/EUDM Forester XT. This setup will be going into my 2007 Forester XT Sport.
Sent you a e-mail about the harness, I'm glad you're doing this.
Hi, I have a 2006 EUDM Foz XT that already has this. Is there much difference in accelleration with this setup as opposed to manual shift?
TIA (thumbs up)
Hi mate, great video, I'm looking at doing the same modification to my H6, 5 speed Auto Sport shift, 05 outback, is what you did the same route I would take ?? As I live in Australia mine is Right hand drive, did you make the wiring harness ?? or is it a bought item ?? if it is can you tell me where you purchased please mate ? Thanks for your informative video. 👌👍
Hey Tony, my process involves adding a custom sportshift harness, which I make from scratch, and then the end user has to swap in the TCU, shifter, and paddles.
When I build the harness that goes between the shifter and the TCU, I also add a section that branches off with a 3 pin connector for the OEM paddles. The wires for this are spliced into the up shift wire, down shift wire, and ground wire as part of the harness.
Since you car already has sportshift on your 5EAT trans, you would need to track down the up shift wire, down shift wire, and tap into those two wires, then run them to the 3 pin plug for the paddles. The ground wire can go to chassis ground.
I’m insanely busy at the moment, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer last month. But I plan on making a few more harnesses soon. I could make you a single section of 3 wires with the 3 plug connector for the paddles, all you would have to do is splice in two of them and then ground the 3rd wire.
@@turnstylevisuals3297 hi mate, I'm really sorry to hear about your wife, I hope everything turns out ok for you and her, thanks very much for your reply mate and I'll keep in touch with you in the future, you have enough on your plate ATM and you really don't need to be answering questions from people, again mate I really hope that your wife is ok, thanks mate and we'll talk more in the future.
@Turnstyle Visuals hope your wife is doing OK, I had cancer myself but I'm better now. Thank you for making these videos, please make more if you can. I plan on running a sport shift setup with the paddles and building my 4eat in my forester and shooting for like 400whp. If you make any more of those harnesses I would love to buy one. I just ordered a paddle and steering column set.
I need this harness if it works on the dashboard. I have a 04fxt woth baja tcu and shifter swap. Also can you put a center diff release button for sliding on the dirt and e brake turns? Alot of the older 4eat guys do this so you can rally

Where do you get the assembly with the paddle shifter?
Honestly had to look around on several part pages and Japanese part pages. The paddle setup is out of a JDM legacy. You need the stalk housing, the paddles, the steering column covers, and then shave a tiny bit of plastic and it’s done and ready for the SG Forester.
Where does one obtain the wiring diagram
I built out the wire diagram myself just from testing. I'll be selling the adapter harness starting next week or so.
Are these still abailable
why did you go this route as opposed to using the 06 Baja sport shift?
Because the Baja XT Sportshift setup is ment for a 3 plug TCU instead of the newer 06-08 Forester 2 plug connection TCU so the pin out is different. Also, the Baja TCU is not programmed to work with VDC (traction control) where as the TCU in my Forester, including the JDM one I got, does have the programming for VDC.
@@turnstylevisuals3297 thanks for that info!! Was considering doing the baja swap but had concerns bc I have an 07 sports w/VDC and VDT and couldn't find much info on the swap. Thanks for making the vids
@@KyleThibodeaux here is a full write I put together. I'm working on a revised version of it as well. Should answer all your questions.

Let me know when you will have the harness for sale. Currently trying to source parts for this mod, is this the TCU Part # you used 31711AJ911?
Can this modification be done in a 2004 SG5 Cross Sport? I have the Regular 4EAT... non turbo
