What a great review! I love my 2009 Forester XT!
dude I LOVE the way you do the reviews.
I absolutely love my 2011 Forester XT, it’s so fun
Great job on the review. I bought the car second hand and remember having the same reaction when I floored it. It's the perfect combination of practical and fun, but you pay for it at the pump
Definitely, my 09 guzzles 93 and it's only 225hp!
@@2slofouru damn what tune ya’ll running? I’m stage 1 muffler delete making 305bhp. I baby the fuck outa my car with maint and the trans. I play around with stock Sti’s and stock 8-speed 5.0s.
I litterally just bought this car 3 days before this video came out and this makes me so happy I bought this car
Do you still have it?
@@noventay4 yes I still do. It’s a great car has a lot of space, it’s reliable, and it sounds good. This one in the video has a upgraded turbo that’s why it’s 400hp. If you get a bigger turbo and supporting mods you will be able to get those numbers.
@@noventay4 and just make sure u buy it in good condition too.
@@Uncle_rizzhow many miles did it have when you bought it? i found one at about 103k.
Nice review. Thanks for sharing.
SH Forester with a 4EAT? Great bones to work with. Tuned like this one, I totally agree it has a split-personality: sedate SUV that can blend into suburbia but able to get out of its way with AWD and that kind of power.
Absolutely my favorite generation of the Forester.
I have a 2009 XT I just want to say this video just made me decide to turn mine into something similar!
Love the black ring around the hood scoop (the plastic bit) . I was actually thinking of doing that recently and wondered how it would look. I also have a red one. So now I know
I was on the fence on getting the cobb accessport for my '11xt. Gonna order one up as soon as i finish this post!
I have a 2011 Forester XT Touring and love it more than my 2020 Outback XT Touring. I just wish it came with the Java brown seats like my 2020. Cool review.
Imma get a car you haven't reviewed yet just to have you review it.
Great work!
I love my 2013 XT, last year of this gen, the 4speed AT is bulletproof. Fun to flip thru the gears, or even use them for engine breaking/ keeping up with my manual transmission friends. Cops never give me a second look. Perfect blend of suburban car w/ a sports like feel. STI parts bolt right on!
Even stock these cars are awesome but man building to 400hp is mental
Have a 2011 that I LOVE! Dude, you should have put it in Sport Shift and manually shifted it. Reacts awesomely! The other thing I really love about these Foresters is the way the power goes to the pavement. You don't get the push or pull of a rear or front drive... everything is putting to the pavement and makes a big difference.
If you could find a willing person, I think you would fall in love with a 2014+ E63s AMG. Very comfy car, great interior, but even stock they are very quick.
Getting famous off comments day 182, so I can live the dream, live life like there’s no tomorrow🚀🤙
Sweet ride! I would drive one.
Awesome!
New engine in my '11 FXT. Bouta be Stage 1+SF.
Long live the turbo Forester
I love my forester xt
14xt cobb stage 1 love it
What turbo is in there? I would love to push my Fozzy further!
I don't think subaru concentrate so much on looks as much as long lasting reliability and the excellent AWD system. Probably why there are so many old subarus still going strong from 1997 and some have covered in excess of 300k miles. Im a UK guy who owns a 2011 SH forester diesel 6speed manual, thats covered 96k miles (no oil or water loss anywhere) and will be converting it to an overlander (Hotel Subaru). They're not luxurious but they are brilliant which is why they have such a following. Enjoy your Subaru fella
Those back seats recline too
Best of the suvs. I have two!
Anything to look out for when getting one of these?
dude. idk if the intercooler mount can be attached correctly after having that setup, but that effer is jiggling a lot. Mount is definitely loose 0:11
Does anyone can drop full parts list, for doing same tune on my ftx
Break down what you did in stages
Hey could you tell me where to get those mud flaps for your forester?
I think ur wrong on how it looks. The look of this car aged well.
How much does the Cobb access port add horsepower ?
where could I find this front bumper?
Hi there Zac , I need some help! I want a kinugawa turbo but they only make 1999-2008 ( my cars a foz xt 2009) any other good brands of turbos you’d recommend?
Get a rebuilt turbo from hill county forced induction cheap option or a fp black
Hey where can i get mine COBB tuned in midwest?
Is the front lip from kazakhstan? I can't find them anywhere else, and it looks legit.
I have a 09, not sure I'd trust my block with 400chp. Does the block change at all from 09 to 10?
The one I have on my '11xt is from Kazakhstan..its a pretty solid fit. and easy to install.
Mine front lip was listed as a factory option. You can find them third party online by looking for a "lower deflector".
what work did he get done exactly? its tuned but how far did he tune it? stage1 or stage 2?
Way more than one or two that's at least a 3 or 4 as far as other turbo subies go😂
@@nox8435 there is no “stages” past 3. Stage 1/1+ is intake/no intake and OTS tune. Stage 2/2+ is downpipe +full exhaust, or any fueling, cooling or other bolt ons. Stage 3/3+ is any engine swap/rebuild, turbo or stand-alone ecu.
The stock car doesn't make 280hp
The turbo has gotten mr pulled over by the local police.. my 2010xt died after 10 years and the Subaru dealers didn’t know how to fix it
How reliable is this set up? Just hit 100k. would be fun to get the same setup after my 100k maintenance
As reliable as you want. Just have 5k in your pocket for a new engine etc.
How is car now still working with no problems?
Yup, still running strong, the only problem we had was some rip off spark plugs but that was an easy fix
What was done to this car, nod list
yo where i can get that grill i have chrome but i like that black version
It's the sports mesh grille that's an OEM part. This one looks to be obsidian black but they're offered in all the factory colors. Not sure if they're still made though
@@blue-tb2fd nvm gonna sell my Forester 😅
The stock SH XT does NOT make 280hp bro! It’s only 224hp stock at the crank and about 180hp at the wheels.
Bruh mine made 265-272@ the crank on a factory tune. On a cobb stage 1 with no bolt ons and a muffler delete it making 305@ the crank, no DP or catback (I know I’m probably making ~230atw). They were underrated, find one with a solid 4EAT that’s been taken care of and they’ll surprise you. You have to remember it’s the same block as the 257 with the wrx old wrx turbo. Shit makes hella boost.
224hp at the crank stock. About 180hp at the wheels stock. You did not make 265-272hp at the crank on a factory tune. For one thing that means you would have pulled the engine out to put it on an engine dyno. For another a “factory tune” would just mean stock. Last but not least, with all due respect, I don’t think you know what you’re talking about.
@@markyh73 The SH rated 224 hp with the sti block slightly less compression and different heads, smaller Td-04 turbo, injectors. Well capable past 224BHP. Mine made 305 on a stage 1 tune, measuring from the OBD-2 port open source. You seem to not know much about what you’re talking about fool. These little turbos are capable of peaking at 15-18psi and making at least 300wheel. Dynos aren’t the only way of tuning or measuring a car. As you seen bye bye cobb.
@@markyh73 like I’m going to take my perfectly healthy engine out of my car because some random idiot who doesn’t know how to build or tune a car LOL.
@@Aphrodave I was trying to be nice, but you’re obviously a moron. You say stuff like “factory tune” and “at the crank” and obviously have no idea what you’re talking about because then you start talking about the stock td04 can make good power. Saying you’re “stage 1” just backs that up. You can do your generic tunes all you want, but your only kidding yourself. It can definitely make more than stock with the proper mods and tune. I bought my 2010 XT brand new and had it professionally tuned on the dynos several times with and without the stock turbo.
29 mpg??? Does the Cobb tune really help the fuel efficiency that much? My 2011 xt has been at 21 for a while with regular driving.
From our experience i doubt it is 29 mpg, I believe due to the bigger injectors and stuff it doesn't match up with amount of fuel the computer thinks its getting. In this particular xt, and the setup we have (with how rough its driven) normal use us only 18-20 mgp, but a lot of that is spent with the pedal to the floor.
@@collinlaque964 that is still way better than my 09 XT. Non-modified normal driving I get between 17 + 18. Spirited driving drops it to more like 16
My 09 guzzles 93 bone stock I hope mods and tune increase mpg. It sucks watching mpg drop in real time when barely smashing the pedal 😆
@@2slofouru 09 FXT here.. Running 92. Axleback exhaust, no other performance mods and I got a ~3.2 MPG boost just running Cobb's Stage 1 map.. Does require a chunk of change to get the AccessPort so it's one of those long term mods to see a kickback.
Mine is 2009XT and give more than 30mpg 💪🏾
How the heck do they get 29.4 to the gallons mine which is the same but white gets 16 😂😂
They don't get 29.4. I have a stock 11' and it doesn't get close to that
It's just what the computer reads, we only get around 200 miles to the tank, then again most of that is spent with the pedal to the floor
It Rumbles woooooooooo
What did you do to the engine
Intake, turbo, exhaust, injectors, and tune according to the video
What’s the0-60 time?
Is this car on E85
Nope, just 93
Can someone tell me why my forester 2009 xt tells me on the screan 15.9 miles pher gallon?😭
You're probably getting about 15.9 mpg lol
What did you modify?
Turbo, injectors, intercooler, blow off valve, cold air intake, exhaust, and a cobb tune
@@collinlaque964 I'm in md where did u get the work done
@@collinlaque964 What exhaust are you running?
great video! just say no to witchcraft
Is forester a reliable car?
no my 09 forester XT has gone through a lot more problems than my previous cars
boo on the automatic! could use the 6sp sti swap
would have to go stand alone i think. no more cobb
the fact that its not even an XT lmao
What makes you say that?
@@blue-tb2fd rear bumper isnt silver with subaru logo aswell as no XT symbol. musta swapped.
@NertyLabs There is no silver on the back of a stock SH Forester aside from the chrome badges and the surround onthe Subaru emblem. The black plastic part in the middle of the rear bumper has an underguard piece available that is silver but most don't have that. The emblem is stock. The XT badge isn't there but it was likely debadged, lots of people get rid of all the badges. It could have come off and they left it off. If it wasn't an XT it would have a PZEV badge in that spot. It has the stock 09-13 XT wheels painted black, it has a hood scoop, and the stock 09-10 rear spoiler. Plus it, you know, has a turbocharged EJ255, the engine the XT came with. Modified somewhat extensively, but it's the same engine. A non-XT won't have an intercooler nor any use for one.
Why would you go to the effort to swap over the wheels, hood, spoiler, and engine into a non-XT when there are tons of XTs available? XTs aren't as common used compared to a WRX or even a Legacy GT, but they're not particularly rare, especially 09-13 and 14-18.
You can also put the license plate into Carfax and it will tell you what trim level it is.
what is a SH and an SG i have an 09 forester xt limited and i have the silver bumper step piece. the xt limited is the highend model of that year.
and idk just seemed like wasnt an xt why would you remove a badge? @@blue-tb2fd
@@NertyLabs They're the chassis codes. 1st gen is SF (97-02), 2nd is SG (03-08), 3rd is SH (09-13), 4th is SJ (14-18), 5th is SK (19-23), if they follow convention the new one will be SL. I own a 2010 XT Limited, there is no silver piece on the bumper. Some people just feel like debadging has a cleaner look. I don't mind how they look but 4 badges is plenty for one trunk lid. Maybe they wanted it to be more of a sleeper, though the hood scoop and front underspoiler/lip don't really help if that's the intent.
lmao you lost me at “automatic “
To be fair this generation XT was only offered in auto
@@blue-tb2fd seriously? i didn’t know. i had the regular Forester X and it was manual so i thought it’d be a no brainer to slap on a manny on the XT
@@dannycruz366 2008 was the last year you could get a manual XT. This gen and the one after (through 2018 I believe) kept the XT but only offered in 4-spd (09-13) and CVT (14-18). Seems like an odd choice to me considering you could get a manual in either generation as long as you didn't gor for the XT. Wish mine was manual but I suppose if the 4EAT ever goes I'll go for it
