I imagine Cordelia's acting improved for the same reason her priorities shifted - feeling everybody's pain in the season 1 finales has made her more empathetic so she can imagine herself in other people's shoes.
Lol shipping Cordelia with Angel? Remember when Cordelia saw Angel for the first time and instantly thought he was cute? She saw him and told her friend, "Hello, salty goodness. Pick up the phone. Call 911. That boy's gonna need some serious oxygen after I'm through with him." That was back in 1x05 "Never Kill A Boy On The First Date" on Buffy. We have also seen her be all over Angel in Buffy's 2x02 "Some Assembly Required" episode. Another time is in Buffy's 2x05 "Reptile Boy" episode where Cordelia invites Buffy to a college party. At the end, when the rest of the friends come to help them escape, Cordelia hugs Angel and thanks him for saving her lol. In the following episode 2x06 "Halloween", we see Cordelia talking and flirting with Angel and he's laughing and smiling at her jokes and the story she's telling. He actually looks like he's having a nice time talking to Cordelia. Later in a bathroom scene after Buffy tells her Angel is a vamp but Cordy doesn't believe her, she tells Buffy that line, "When it comes to dating, I'm the Slayer." Lol. Gotta love Cordy. So yeah. Cordelia had the hots for Angel back then. Don't know if she still likes him now that she's been working alongside him.
So much great stuff in this episode: Our introduction to The Host (I'd forgotten how he immediately starts in flirting with Angel 😂), Gunn joining the team, Mandy (which is an unmistakable Buffy/Angel song! Read the lyrics!), the closing visit to Faith. And though you didn't show it, I remember being especially moved at Angel's visit to the room of the demon-champion he killed and the quiet moment of respect he pays.
5:42 'It's been a long time.' For her it's been a long time, hell time runs differently to earth time, we know that from Angel's time in hell between Buffy killing him at the end of Season 2 and his return during Season 3 of BtVS.
The Host's reveal in this episode is just brilliant. Andy looks so evil and menacing from that angle. You start wondering what kind of demonic powers this species of demon has. Then he starts singing.
I really enjoy your reactions to Angel & Buffy. But you HAVE to watch the end credits! Most of the time there isn’t anything. But every once in a while (like for this episode) they give you a surprise.
I believe all the pain of everyone she felt all at once all around the city when that demon cursed her helped with her acting. it's difficult to know how to act when you haven't really experienced much. :)
He took the time to see Faith, and she SAW that. One of the best episodes, for me at least. Great Post. And I didn't hear any lisp, except when you mentioned it at the beginning of the Post. So, I think you're good. LOL
I find it interesting that characters singing in episodes and movies means musicals nowadays. My favorite part of the episode is the surprise guest star at the end. I cannot remember if the crew had plans to bring her back more often and couldn't make it work?
A good opener to S2 the show of course is stolen by 'The Host' making Angel sing a terrible rendition of Mandy by Barry Manilow. The look on the Demons faces is hilarious listening to it. A touching scene at the end when Angel visiting Faith in prison. Great to see Gunn on the team too.
Cordy became a half decent actor after having empathy forced on her in the season 1 finale. She was terrible before because she's never bothered to care about what other people think or feel
In some senses, she's always been very empathetic. Cordelia was the first person to work out that Buffy was being so hard on the ghost in I Only Have Eyes For You because she identified with him and was projecting, for example. It was just rarely used for anything constructive until she inherited the visions. She always *knew* how people were feeling and what they thought of her, she just almost never took it a step further and thought about what it would feel like to be in their position, until now.

Ah, the transformation from Bangel to Cangel has begun!
Sofie is a Cangel shipper? Yes! Join us!
She got there faster than most of us too lol
Needs a much better ship name though. The name mashing doesn't work in this show.
@@thomasdendtler4077 Yeah Angel is a hard name to combine with others😂
Sounds like a foot condition. Or maybe a tooth problem 😂
@@thomasdendtler4077 How about Angelia? I think that would work.
Cordelia is the ONLY person that can make Angel smile. Always has been.
The look on your face at 12:14. I think every single one of us had that sort of dawning comprehension of how crazy amazing this is.
That moment when you realize you're shipping Angel with Cordelia of all people.
RIP Andy Hallett, passed way too young.
Welcome to Cangel. My favorite ship

I like to think Cordy roped Angel into reading lines with her and that's how she got better at acting 😂 the man can put on a show when he wants to!
And he can never say to Cordy, best example been when she moves temporarily into his place
Andy Hallett has such a great voice!
❤always gives me chills

I'm sure you've been told this already, but in case you didn't - it's worth watching the end credits for this episode!

Pride. It is pride which comes before a fall.

Welcome to the best season in the buffy-verse
Gotta love the crossover between two different parts of your channel.
Yes, the Host!
Cangel over Bangel
This is a great episode. You had a great reaction to it.
