This is a perfect example of the power of acting. I've seen Al Pacino in a lot of movies, but a few minutes into this, he's Frank. The whole cast was outstanding. Since you seemed to genuinely enjoy this movie, I recommend another one in a similar vein, "As Good As It Gets." It might even be worthy of a reaction. 😁
When he threating break his nephew's windpipe and you said "do it"; I laughed out loud for the first time in awhile. BTW..the dog is staring because you're talking to someone who isn't there
Yeah I always wished there was an alternate ending to that scene where he finished messing Randy up, then Frank and Charlie bang his wife Gail Eifel Tower style, while the rest of the family cheers them on and Randy cries and pees in a crumpled mess on the floor lol
Great reaction. I love Scent of a Woman. I remember seeing it in the theaters when it first came out and I thought Al Pacinos acting was incredible. Especially the scene when they're at that hearing/trial. Still one of my favorite movies of all time. HUA!
By the way... HUA is an Army acronym. We love those things. It's "Heard. Understood. Acknowledged". It it used in many ways that can mean anything but no. First and foremost, it is used as a show of respect. "I hear you and I understand". Hooah!
@@mckrackin5324 No, I know Oorah. I'm not talking battle cries. I always assumed Hooah and HUA was a different thing... maybe not though. Thanks for the details.
The three scenes that stood out for me were the Tango one, the Thanksgiving Dinner with Col. Slade's family, and ultimately the closing speech at Baird by Col. Slade. Phenomenal movie. Among the best films to come out in the decade of the 1990s.
Great reaction and I gotta shout out the editing ! Feels like a great "compressed" version of the movie, keeping all the key points, I really feel like I watched the movie with you !
I am so glad you watched this movie. Great reaction too. You kept in all the important parts. This movie is a classic. Al performance as Lt. Col Slade was amazing. Chris O'Donnell really nailed the young man learning from an older man, while I also teaching Lt. Col Slade to. How Slade knew he saluted wrongly was his arm brushed Chris's. As a veteran myself, improperly saluting is disrespectful. As Lt. Colonel. He was a leader. That is why he commanded troops, he also had amazing charisma. He poked at people to see how they would react. This is why he liked Charlie...he had integrity. He didn't lie or hide himself or his feelings. What impacts me most is this is why a father figure is needed. He knew Charlie's so-called friends really weren't friends. He gave him solid advice and when chips were down. He was by Charlie's side as Charlie stood by him when he needed him the most. It was truly a father/son relationship. While Slade was crass, he really delved into why he (and men in general) love women. Their softness, the way they smell, tenderness, etc. Sex was there but if you pay attention, it was also about more knowing the fine details of person. Listening to my dad talk about my mother in same way. How he fell in love with her. Her mannerisms, cheeky humor, the beauty of her hair, how she smelled, how she moved. That is love. Also, Gaberille Anwar (the young woman Al did tango with)..loved doing the tango with Al. What makes that end speech even more impactful and why people reacted the way they did. It was a school for leadership. Lt. Colonel Slade lead men in battle aka talking about amputees. He saw young men killed or wounded in battle. He led in the hardest of circumstances. Combat. So, Lt. Colonel Slade talking about leadership and while telling school to do better is so bad ass.
I think the Thanksgiving dinner was about cutting ties. He was trying to make his family hate him so they wouldn't feel bad about him dying the next day.
I'd agree based on the last thing he said "I'm no fucking good... and I never have been. Goodbye Willy.". Though I do think it was also for him, to see his brother one last time. You'll notice he only calls him "Willy" as he's leaving.
I love how Pacino's character pushed Charles to constantly snitch and rat on his friends to save himself, and part of you thinks he's just being heavily sarcastic, but part of you knows it's also because he's become totally cynical and basically given up on his fellow man. But when Charles showed he had backbone and wouldn't sell out to save his future, that gave the Colonel a spark of hope again. And sometimes, that's all we need. Great reaction to a great film!
Even if this wasn't an incredible performance, which it is, Pacino was SO DUE a win at the Oscars lol. He was the legendary snubbed guy long before Leo came around. SEVEN noms to win. Guy made Godfather 1, Godfather 2, Serpico, and Dog Day Afternoon all in the first FIVE years of his career, and got shut out at the Oscars.... brutal lol
great reaction as usual Cristy, the dance was one of my favorite parts too. I like when the characters are not the "picture perfect" people we want them to be. If I can digress just for a moment to you at one point of the move...Cristy - explaining to her dog (Joe?) about the movie, Joe-"cool, how's the food situation?" Have a good day!
….. or two 😂😂 Who’s counting right? Glad you did this movie. It’s been years since I’ve watched it… it was another great and fun reaction. To the edit team, keep up the great work. And hope you’re doing well!
Thank you so much for reacting to this movie! Not enough reactors pick this film and it's just so good! It's my favourite performance from Pacino, even with all the other amazing roles he's taken on over the decades. I look forward to seeing more reactions from you.
You said, 2 or 3 grand to put up with Slade for the weekend. Charlie did it for $400 in 1992 dollars which is about $900 today. A lot of people think it's paint, but I think it's milk. If it was paint, you wouldn't see Trask in the next scene without white paint stains all in his hair and over his face. I tried Schlitz. It was discontinued but they brought it back. I was out with my dad at the Grand Canyon and he wanted to drink, so we got what he wanted. He drank 2 and I drank 3 and both of us were feeling pretty darn good.
Great review! And a sweet bottle of Blue Nun! I think? Would really enjoy if you would do Field of Dreams sometime. You do great work with a tremendous sense of humor. Cheers! 🍻
Thank you so much! On airplane you got most of the jokes. There are a couple scenes in it that you wouldn’t get. Mostly 70s commercials. “Jim never has a second cup of coffee at home” was an ad. And the lady who says it is the actor in the movie. And the last thing everyone misses is the noise the plane puts out is a prop plane not a jet engine. Thank you again.
Beautiful Reaction to one my all time favourite movies that very few people bother to watch. Thanks so much to Dad for inspiring you to do this one! God Bless.
Christy, as a member of the NQCR club, (Never Quit Colombian Reactions), I felt obligated to watch this one. Glad I did. Now, I gotta go back and watch your previous reactions. Might as well subscribe while I’m at it!!! Cheers from Texas.
I think that Al Pacino is the best actor in my lifetime. Everyone watches his most popular movies (Godfather, Scarface, etc..) but please watch, AND JUSTICE FOR ALL. Pacino usually has a scene(s) in his movies where you just can't help say to yourself, "Man, he is a great actor." In AND JUSTICE FOR ALL, it is the "car scene" for me.
Cristy, loved your reaction. It was truly honest, respectful and emotional. I love movies that can bring out my emotions. What good are emotions, if you don't use them,..... and I've always said, "you need to test your emotions, periodically, to make sure they still work!"? I think, to some degree, that was what Frank was doing in this movie. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. And Al Pacino defiantly deserved his Best Actor award. And, I can't believe how few people have reacted to it!
I prefer the sequel, Scent of a Woman 2: They're Everywhere! Ends up being a pretty self-explanatory title, because he mostly just wonders around the city saying hoo-ah and yelling, "Ya smell that?"
When you told your dog what was going on in the movie I subscribed...I was gonna do it anyhow. It is easy to watch this film knowing how it ended. The first time is nerve wracking. I knew you'd love the ending. Pacino has another great speech in "And Justice For All" that rivals this one. You should react to that. Great movie. I shared an elevator with Pacino once in the late 90's. He was a client for the CPA firm I worked for in NYC. He was wearing an all white suit.
Hello Cristy!😊 This a a great film! I know Al Pacino won the Academy Award for his performance here!🏆When you drink your Naked Wine, do you have to be naked?😉 Charlie is a young Chris O'Donnell. He is probably best known for playing Robin in the 90s Batman films. Great reactions to this excellent film, Cristy!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
A Movie I think of every time I watch this one is "As Good As It Gets". Also in the same 'bag' I put "Frankie And Johnny", and "Dangerous Liaisons" - Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer; John Malkovich, Glen Close.
Al Pacino won an Oscar for this. He did an incredible job with showing blindness in the movie. Another actor who did an equally amazing performance was Audrey Hepburn in WAIT UNTIL DARK. Got nominated for an Oscar. Worth reacting to; just turn off or dim the lights during the final 8 minutes of the movie. Helps to see the screen more easily

The tango scene is my favorite scene of all time. Pure romance. I a!ways imagined that Charley goes back to the bar to find the dream girl who obvious liked him.....
I always had a crush on Gabrielle Anwar (The Tango partner). She’s also in another movie with Chris O'Donnell, the Three Musketeers. that movie also has Charlie Sheen and Kiefer Sutherland.
The woman he danced with, Gabrielle Anwar, was model who early acting was a bit quiet like in this movie, but she really came into her own in the TV series 'Burn Notice' where she played an IRA bomber helping out her disavowed spy "boyfriend".
One of my fav’s! Was waiting for this one. Would love for you to do my absolute favourite as well.. The Deer Hunter. I know for sure your father knows that one as well!!! Keep it up.
When you think about the span of Al Pacino's career and the many excellent films that he's been in it's difficult to pick a favorite!! But for me this particular film, AND his academy award-winning performance, definitely put this film in the top three!!! The speech at the school "tribunal" by Pacino is nothing short of epic!!!! "... If I was the man I was 5 years ago I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place!!!!" I swear, I jump out of my chair pumping my fist EVERY time I hear him deliver that line!!!❤❤❤
Near minute 15, the bim-bi actually makes sense. The singular form originated in Italian, and when masculine terms ending in o become plural, the tend to replace the o with an i. It's like how spaghetti is the plural of spaghetto (a single noddle of that type). However, the sound of an i is our long-E sound.
He is a trained solider. He may not be able to hear but we are also taught to hear. Listen for movement. I doubt he would ever hurt Charlie. He just wanted him to go.
Al Pacino is a god. He should have about 25 Oscars for the movies he did before this and about 15 for the movies he did after this. When is someone going to react to Sea Of Love?
Sometime, excuse me, often times honorable people make poor decisions, what make them honorable is hey don't hide behind excuses and point fingers at others, they own up.
