@@TomLeeman yeah it might work for some windows at home, but then after doing more research about size I either have to do what you guys did, ripping everything off and installing that middle section or I'll have to mull two windows. It seems very changeling for a single guy who never did this. Then I could use the existing aluminum frame since my windows are flushed, but still have to mull and cut some wood for the base...
I didn't see the first level used. 🤔 The guy with the caulk didn't clean the dust off where the caulk rides on so that caulk in a few weeks to a month will pull away from the window.
Is this video supposed to be for the comedy channel? It's comedy gold, lol...I wouldn't have these 2 workers cut my lawn! The best part was one guy blowing the cement dust into the other guys unmasked face...Thanks guys for the laughs!
Can hurricane windows be installed without inspection? I got some used ones for free. Also where can I find those anchors you installed to the aluminum divider?
You get anchors at Home Depot and depending on the lawn what state you’re in I think you’re allowed to put one in a year if you had a broken window, you could reinstall in Florida one, but not a whole house
So , nice video , recently had Impact rated patio doors installed & County permitted south FL, I believe the Bucks are supposed to be as wide or wider than the Frames of Impact windows being installed, newer Code. Frames are now much wider than non-impact type windows. Maybe center frame Mullions mitigate need for wider wood bucks , just sayin , video came out well.
@@TomLeeman congrats then. Reading through your replies make it seem as though you experienced a lot of buyers remorse following the feedback from the windows.
@@ChrisBranleh I mean this job was adequate but not great. They could’ve done a lot better and we had a lot of problems with our French doors but all in all seem to work.
Ain’t no F’n way this passed inspection… Those clowns are Hacks!…. Fairly certain the, “concrete screws” set in a cold joint are not Simpson and not Structural. First hurricane to come through, that window is gone.
They had to take pics of everything and send them to the inspector as they were doing it and then at the end he came once the job is finished but until then we had to keep all the stickers on the windows. It’s a pain in the butt because they had to replace our back French doors which were screwed up and that took like six months, these guys were not the greatest tell you the truth but the windows work so we’re fairly happy with him. Thank you for watching.
The one center screw went right in no support at all. This is quality workmanship? They didn't even wait for the cement to set up. Made a big deal about pouring a mix but then just dropped the screw in the hole.
Yes, I am now very skeptical of their craftsmanship. After posting these that’s one of the reasons that I videotaped the whole process so that I would have a record of the installation. If you have any other comments, please write them here.
With the Hurricane Windows you almost don’t even need alarms because somebody would need a wrecking ball to get through them they’re so tough but the alarm sensors are very easy to put on all you do is peel and stick them in there’s two pieces one has the battery in it the other has the sensor and if the contact is broken the alarm goes off I believe I have one little video on that thanks for writing
@@TomLeeman Thank you for the reply ! That's good to know that the windows are that strong . If the winds from a hurricane get strong enough to damage those windows then I'm concerned about the roof flying off at that point ! Regarding the alarm system I guess I would probably have the alarm company representative come out and tell us what we need to do working with these new windows 👍 Thanks for the video Tom . Good Teamwork ! Not always easy working with family hahaha .👌
Peel and stick is for wireless alarm contacts. If you have wired contacts pick up some two part epoxy for the depot or Lowes and glue the contact back to the frame. If you have wired contacts keep them. They are better than wireless. If someone tells you different they are lazy, stupid or both.
Hey nice video! please answer my question only, did this install pass inspection only need windows installers that installs passes inspection! Thanks for the help
Ohhh wow , NO LEVEL , NO BLUE MASKING TAPE ON THE SILL , NO DROP CLOTHES, NO FLASHING… PS … I CALL THIS EPISODE TWO UNLICENSED CUBANS FROM MIAMI AT WORK … ( PS … IM CUBAN MYSELF SO ITS NOT A RACIST CALL )
Here in Miami our window installers are multi talented. On Monday they install windows, on Tuesday they install tile, on Wednesday they sell Hervalife and on the weekends they can do your taxes.
The first thing that errks me where is your drop cloths in front of the opening? Just throwing your tools on the customers floor 😂. Instead of just blowing dust and debris everywhere you should have those guys invest in a shop vac. No wonder I’m making so much money going behind guys like this and fixing these types of installs.Center support is called a mull and the clips are called mull clips. And as a professional window installer these guys are not professionals. You can literally measure the center and place the mull into place. That bottom right clip tapcon hit a hollow spot 😂.
You are so correct these guys were hacks, but they actually did get the windows in and it passed inspection believe it or not. Thanks for all those constructive criticisms and thanks for watching.
First video ever showing my current crappy windows. Now I know how to remove them. Thanks a lot!
You are welcome and good luck on the job thanks for watching

Same exact thing u was saying 🤣😂
I didn't see the first level used. 🤔 The guy with the caulk didn't clean the dust off where the caulk rides on so that caulk in a few weeks to a month will pull away from the window.
I would have to say these guys weren’t the greatest mechanics in the world one of the reasons I documented everything with video
Why didn’t you guys replace the bucks when you installed the impact windows?
That’s a good question we have CBS construction here so there’s concrete but I appreciate your comments

You can say that again, these guys for the worst
Nice video. Are those aluminum window or vinyl?
Aluminum

Great work, Tom. Are you from Chicago? Your way of speaking sounds very familiar to me.
Actually, I’m from Detroit
Very helpful video; many thanks
Glad it was helpful!

Did this ever pass inspection?
I don’t know how but it did

How about to use a leveler?
I know they should’ve, thanks for the common. Thanks for watching.
So did the inspector just show up after you finished? Did they want install pics?

Very nice 👌, how long it took you guys to put that one window in?
I think it took probably about an hour

@@TomLeeman you have posted many window installation videos with the same team. I can't tell if you work for the company or...?
they didnt replace the old wood in the installation ?
Nope they did not what do you think of that leave Comment
You only have to replace the wood if it's rotted or not doing its job. Honestly I didn't even see them check for either condition.
Dude, you sound just like Bob Odenkirk.
Thanks I think
Looks great nice job however you didn't show how to put the alarm system back together on the windows ???

I’m actually waiting for the inspection now hopefully it will pass cross your fingers
Any update? Did it pass inspection after all?
I think I'd at least take a picture of the mullion clip screws for the inspector before I installed the windows over top of them.
Yes I think they’re supposed to do that
I LOVE those jalousiy windows. What a pity to lose all that access to fresh air.
We can still open the windows
I'm looking to get windows for my house but I'm worried about the three really big windows I have 😭
The bigger they are the more expensive so you’ll have to get a couple quotes. Thanks for watching.
You can say that again they’re not really attentive to detail he just looked for the anchors
Eye protection, gloves with cutting wheel, fingers away!
I know right these guys are crazy. They’re gonna hurt themselves.
I’m sure grown men appreciate having another mother….
How did you order the windows from PGT?
You can order them from Home Depot I believe
Thanks for sharing.

Don't worry about it fluff cake ...

This guys never using level on the windows no good brother
That’s what I thought thanks for watching
no levels boys? the ol eye level
I know right I’m not sure these guys are the professional thanks for watching
You don’t have full frame support the bucks are wrong😂
I should’ve had you do it. These guys were not the best.
Camera man is crazy moving all over the place...
I know right he needs to stand still

No worries man, I’ll be honest inspectors are only looking for missing anchors and sealant issues or operation issues.
Terrible camera work, almost makes you motion sick
Thanks for the constructive criticism
Remind me to not hire these guys...not one level used...😏
They were the worst you can say that again
