    Hello I am a new subscriber. I want to thank you for sharing this recipe which I tried this morning and also for all the valuable information on your website. I am from Mauritius and we know the casava plant as Manioc. There is a well known “biscuit manioc” factory since 1870 and I have eaten their biscuits for the last 40 years at least… still it is the first time that I have tried baking with casava flour. I was a little apprehensive and so I am really happy to say that all went well and that I am satisfied with my crackers. It surely is a boost and an encouragement for me as I am transiting from a heavily gluten diet to a no gluten one. Once again thank you. I shall surely share this video with my family and friends 😊

    I had been wanting to try making my own crackers using the almond solids leftover from making almond milk and your recipe worked out great with that substitution. Thank you! The tomato paste and garlic powder/oregano seasoning is quite nice and I look forward to trying some different flavor combos using your recipe as the basis. Subscribed.

      Thanks so much for sharing Jonathan! I'm really happy to know you made it and enjoy the crackers. It's great to know that using leftover pulp from making almond milk also works in the recipe.

    • @JonathanPriest9
      @JonathanPriest9 3 роки тому

      @@Livinghealthywithchocolate It is definitely a bit more work but it feels good to utilize something normally discarded and perhaps it adds a bit more mineral content to the recipe. To clarify for others who may want to try this, I bake the leftover almond milk solids in the oven at 200 on a pizza pan with parchment paper for as long as it takes to dry. After cooling, I grind it into a flour consistency using a magic bullet mini blender. I get the best results texture-wise when I add just enough Cassava flour to get to the 1 1/4 cup flour target in your recipe. I use 1 cup of almonds per batch of milk so it falls short unless I accumulate a couple batches worth. It does work with just the almond flour though.

    • @Livinghealthywithchocolate
      @Livinghealthywithchocolate  3 роки тому

      @@JonathanPriest9 This is really helpful so thank you very much for sharing! If you would like to you can also post your feedback (and photo) on my website for more people to see. I always get questions regarding using the pulp from making milk so I appreciate you sharing your method. Thanks again. 😊

    I played around with the optional ingredients due to intolerances* and they made a perfect plain cracker. Nice and crunchy. Plus they don’t fall apart when you spread something on them or pick them up 👍
    * swapped asafoetida for garlic powder 1:1,
    2 tbsp ground hemp hearts for the 3 tsp oregano, and
    Nutritional yeast for the tomato paste 1:1
    I also had to reduce the oven time because mine tends to burn things to a crisp.

    Finally! A cracker recipe I can make while on my elimination diet. I just recently got my allergy test back from my Naturopath and found out I am highly allergic to: Corn, gluten, rice, potato, legumes, nuts, seeds, baker's & brewer's yeast, goat & sheep's milk and a few others. When you go into a health food section and look for gluten free products all of them contain ingredients I cannot have. Now, I can still have coconut, flax seed, string green beans, sesame seed and sweet potato, but the rest I have to cut out. I hope to eventually find some recipes using Cassava flour and banana flour to make home made pasta. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe with the world, this helps people like me and others who cannot have the allergens in which I mentioned. Keep up the awesome work!

So I add the liquid in little by little till I get a dough consistency I want. I’m so excited that I have something low histamine to munch on finally . Thanks Adriana for another wonderful and easy to make recipe.

      Giuliana, a farinha tapioca e a cassava são feitas da cassava. A diferença e no processo. Cassava flour is made from the whole root, peeled, dried and finely ground. Em algum lugar deve vender ai no Brasil. Eu acho que se vc usar a tapioca ou o polvilho nao vai dar o mesmo resultado.

    Mine got stuck to the parchment paper. Where did I go wrong? The dough was very dry so I added a tad bit of more water. Did that cause it to stick to the paper? The taste was nice though.

      ummm, I am not sure! Were they stuck after baked?

    • @Manishaaaaaaaaaa
      @Manishaaaaaaaaaa 5 років тому

      @@Livinghealthywithchocolate Actually while rolling the dough, the paper stuck to it and tore off, when I rolled it hard I guess. After baking also, the paper was still stuck.

    Can I use whole wheat flour and fresh tomato puree?

    • @Livinghealthywithchocolate
      @Livinghealthywithchocolate  4 роки тому +1

      Fresh tomato puree will add too much moisture to the dough so I don't think it's a good substitute. As for wheat flour I don't know. I think it will work but you may need to adjust how much you add. If you try it please let me know how it goes.

      Living Healthy With Chocolate In India, we make something similar, called as mathari. We use refined or whole wheat flour, add spices of choice, knead the dough with water, roll it out, cut and then eitger fry or bake.
      I will modify it slightly. I will use oregano inatead of regular indian mathari spices and knead the dough with tomato puree. And wil see how it turns out.
