For the rotational torque, I recommend that you use some oil in the bearings, the reading is very jumpy if you don't and it's also inaccurate. Also you probably know this, but the actual reading is while it rotates, the initial break away is disregarded. The pinion set up bearing will also work for the front axle, so that's a plus. Well at least with the miller tool, you got the main part out of the way, if the depth shims are wrong, you have to repeat everything. I've been there, not fun. Great video! Looking forward to the final assembly!
Kaiser Willys can be a hit or miss, I wish they didn't have such a close tie with Omix. There's some parts that they have which are great, like the axle shaft nuts, which are beefier than what others sell. Then there's the shims, they are all junk except for the NOS that they have for the transfer case. Other than NOS, I think Ron/ Joe's motor pool is the only one to have good shims, any other vendor sells junk! Over the years I learned that you can't buy everything from just one place, if you want the best quality and price, you gotta jump all over lol.
Agreed. I got NOS shims for my D18 from KW and they were F script. (I have a bunch of random F script bolts on it anyways, hope the Ford guys don't get mad.)
Crown shims are all 0.007 as well...Joes Motor Pool are good but for some reason they're missing the 0.005 shims in their kits. I've just ordered some from Debella, will let you know how they turn out
NOOOO!!!!!! BlueB*lled Again! Great job on the nuts and wires and retainers, but future you is going to be MAD if he ever has to break into that thing. Keep up the good work, and cant wait to see the . . . . . "6TH" part! Really, 6 parts already for a diff rebuild? Did you hire the writers from Dragon Ball Z?
In their defense, they do have most every part you'd need. But they stock what they can get, and what they can get is a lot of Omix stuff with poor quality control. And their prices are the highest of all the vendors but that's probably so they can offer free shipping on larger orders. Their customer service is great, though. You can call or email them and they'll make it right if they can. (I've had to make several calls and return a few parts...)
Great vidio i really enjoyed it, looking forward to the next one

Typical Kaiser Willys stuff. I've had so many issues with them. They are my last resort on ordering parts.
