3:35 thats Pol sombal u need to eat string hoppers with dhal and pol sambal together that's the best combination. Dhal will reduce the spiciness of pol sombal. Without dhal it would be too spicy for some people
Tim, you’re doing a great promotional job for Sri Lanka. The little island needs all the publicity it needs, at this time,as the country needs the dollar income from tourism. I saw on UA-cam so many videos made by tourists from the European community .There are thousands coming in now. So dollars are raining in. Your videos are so informative. Thank you very much. You’re a Belgian Sri Lankan 😂😂🎉🎉🎉.
Whatttt... Are you sure these are all in Sri Lanka.. Thanks Tim.. Will never forget your videos.. Very thanks for sharing the beauty of Sri Lanka like this.. Appreciate
Thank you Tim, Love your adventures in SriLanka. We wanted to see more videos. By the time I'm typing you have 238K subscribers. Keep up the good work.
It's nice to see you are enjoing SL. I'm a Sri Lankan and a solo traveller. I ve been traveled to 6 countries already and still for me, Sri Lanka is the best. And you need at atlleast 2-3 months to cover up almost all the most beautiful places in SL. But I recommend 4 months straight stay to see the real beauty of this country. I mean not the places that popular among tourist, I mean to see the real beauty. There are many hidden and unpopular places that unviel the beauty of this country. And can get the feeling of all the 4 seasons (spring, summer, fall and winter) which other countries have through out whole one year, here in sri lanka with in maximum of one day travel time. And follow I mentioned some details for you regarding this video. The best time to visit Ella is July, August, September. Btw through out whole year Ella and its suburbs are beautiful. String hoppers you can eat by mixing both dhal curry and the coconut sambol (salad). Then the spicyness of the sambol won't hurt much. Make sure to add more curry. @11.00 minute you showed a buddhist temple. And the prices of the king coconuts are always depend on the size and the age of it.(LKR 100 - 200) And "Ravana" is a name of a king in ancient Sri Lanka. Also you can have a good time in those expensive hotels without booking a room. Only visit those for a evening tea, cocktail or day time lunch. Even without ordering any of these still you can hangout sometime in those places. You just need to ask. :) Always keep in mind most of the Sri Lankans are really helpful and friendly. So it's not much harder to enjoy both beauty and hospitality anywhere you visit in this pearl. *Sorry for the huge comment. Hope you could get any kindda help from this.*
The curry you put on green colored string hoppers is known as "Sambola". That is made using coconut, chilli powder, salt, onions and some times little pepper powder. And we mixed all together. I think 'sambola' is best when it mixed with sring hoppers.
Bro , the way u travel in our country is the best way to feel the real happiness and beauty. Don't go for more sofisticated thing ,just continue the way as simple as possible then u never missed the beauty of Sri lanka❤
Nice to see you again. That coconut chutney you had with string hoppers is used to call 'pol sabal' in srilanka. You have to mix both pol samba and dhal together and eat gives a good taste. Try green tender coconuts inside flesh (kurumba) with honey. Enjoy your trip.
I ones had freshly made curd in SL and it was so good I could have eaten several bowls full and still crave more. It is very hard to find fresh ones due to natural fermentation process causing it to go sour till it becomes inedible after several days. But I guess the fermentation makes it more gut healthy with lots of pro-biotics and broken down proteins.
Wow Tim...i think u also realy enjoyed ur journy with my people and i really appriciate ur words ,ur visiting.come again sir .. trepel gem bless u...🥺💝🎊️
I visited ella in 2019. It's beautiful up there! I will visit there again. As a sri lankan, I am recommending this Place for both foreign and local tourists and Tim have a nice journey!. Oh! I forgot i wish you Channel will get more subscribers!!😁💙.
@2:03; maybe they would have added some colouring; original string hoppers are either white (made out of white rice) or brownish (made out of red rice) ☺☺
String hoppers is more delicious when mix with both lentils curry and sambol together. need to mix a bit harder until break the strings of string hoppers
@2:40; Native people used to add a sufficient quantity of fresh coconut milk (or any other gravy such as dhal curry) to lubricate to a pack of string hoppers so that it is very easy to swallow 😁😁. The spicy topping is called Pol Sambal (or Pol Sambola) made out of scraped coconut, onion, red chilli and salt. Sometimes they used to add pepper (optional); Sambal known to be originated from Indonesia and reached to Ceylon (Sri Lanka) via the Dutch who ruled both the countries in 17th and 18th Centuries.
