A very special place you are in. Ella is said to be one of the main cities of the ancient emperor Ravana. Legend has it that Ravana loved nature so much that he built his palaces and fortresses underground without disturbing the environment on top. You just might be walking on top of a palace which has been lost to time. This is all legend and is why you would not hear from the conventional history of this land which starts around 2500 years back. Ravana's time was probably over 5000 years or even more. For whatever reasons the archeological authorities do not seem to be interested in seriously investigating this ancient history. Probably because of the conflicting historical data that might cause too much of a culture shock and question the recorded history. Or maybe it's all just myth and legend. Believe what you will but you can't argue that this place has a very special vibe. You just might be drawn to this land due to a deeper connection than you are yet to realize. Cheers Davud! Ps.
