Yes, as a westerner you can live amazingly in Romania and you're likely to, overall, be treated extra well and most expats don't live on the average salaries of the average person here. Yes, life in eastern europe/the balkans is great as a white, male, west european because you can always go back home, you work in corporations, get western salaries or come with some money acquired there and have that aura of the emancipated westerner from better, richer lands that influence how you are treated. The shepherd dogs are only dangerous if they're on duty, so if you don't see their charge anywhere near, they're probably just looking for food. And most of them know humans will give them food eventually. There's always been one dog accompanying me on hikes around Ardeal, and it just makes it that much better.
Since there were no sheep, this was not a shepard's dog. And usually they are not alone, but at least five or more (everything else is useless against bears). The biggest problem today is that nobody wants to work anymore as cioban (shepard), so the sheep owners just let the dogs guard the flock and they probably show up once a day with their ATV. When there is no shepard around and the dogs get angry at you, you have a problem.
As a Romanian guy I laughed a lot..All their lives the Romanians admired western civilization and wanted to live like "the American dream" and now the Americans and other western European people began to come to find isolated places in the mountains to flee from the greed of capitalism. This is where corporate capitalism brought us.
@Kikiryki You forget Communism, caused their leading Bastards was always Capitalists. Today the Play the Democravy Game, the Power behind are always greedy Capitalists. We all getting fooled by different Parties which playing the Democracy Game, without to know what Democracy mean. We getting told that comes from Greec language. Demos = Folk Cratos = Govern But the old Greec Word Demos having a Total other meaning. When cooking ANIMAL fat to seperaten the Solid from the liquid Part appearing on the surface a Kind of Vaporating Water and dirt which is fished and thrown away, I call it Scum. So simply Said: Democracy mean the ruling of Scum and this is 100% what it is.😂

Look what happened to Bali and the uncontacted tribes of the amazon forests. They are all the puppets of western culture tourists who cannot do any introspection they keep going to places instead of going inside and learn to sit still and be happy wherever they are. tourism is the most stupid thing anyone can do.

This video brings back fond memories when I visited Alba Julia in 1996. One day we went up into the mountains, an hours drive away and it was like going back into another world.. we went through a small gorge and later we climbed up high up onto the mountain side, where we thought there was an almost deserted village. We met two of the inhabitants who are very friendly. Ah yes, the Tuica! Very powerful schnapps type of drink.
Welcome to Romania brother, thank you for showing the world the Romania beautiful land and unique nature and old traditions. Good luck in the future travelling!🧳
I’m happy for you and grateful that you’ve chosen to explore the beauties of Romania. I wish you nothing but wonderful experiences. Unfortunately, I can’t say I had the same in Belgium. During a trip through Belgium, I stopped at a gas station and asked for a pack of cigarettes in English (as it’s the only foreign language I speak). The cashier, with a decidedly unfriendly and impolite expression, reminded me that people speak French in Belgium (a language I regrettably don’t know). I apologized in English and said that it wasn’t an issue, and I’d try my luck at the next station. That was enough to tell me all I needed to know about Belgian hospitality.
In Belgium there is a language war going on; the eastern part (Wallonië) people speak French, the western part (Vlaanderen) people speak Dutch... And specially in Wallonië they often refuse to speak Dutch... I'm from the Netherlands and i don't speak French, so i had also such a rude experience...🤨🫣🥴😔 But there are also a lot of very friendly Belgian people ✨💖✨
The dog was your guardian! My grandmother tells me that if I'm in a faraway place, lost and I see a dog, not be scared because it will guide me and take me to safety! The dog is't a "spirit"! But, if he barks at me, to go far without looking back, because he does not wish me well (like in life).....So deep and proufound my Romanian grandparents!
I am a romanian living far away from Europe. I miss Romania, and I would build a house there, in the mountains, just for the summer. In winter I would come back where I currently live, so the whole year would be just summer for me.
Super nice one Tim! What the man wanted to say about Maramures is that in antiquity Romans did not conquer there were the free Dacians. Otherwise our region of Maramures was under Hungarian Kingdom rule for centuries and also under Austro-Hungarian administration since 1867.....
I have tears in my eyes as I watch this. I am of Romanian descent (my grandfather, deceased 1967) and against the wishes of my father I backpacked into Romania in 1977 as I made my way through Greece, Macedonia and Yugoslavia. The most brutal of all communist dictators, Nicolae Ceausescu, was in power. I had a terrible experience with customs and the police, and I'm sure I was watched the entire ten days I spent there. Few people were friendly, most were either suspicious or begging me with tears in their eyes for something like my t-shirt or jeans. I left Romania heartbroken and depressed, yet full of empathy for the country of my ancestors and it's people. Can you imagine then how your journey has touched me? Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
Greetings from Finland! This was my first time watching videos and I liked what I saw 🤗 , I will watch more. Thank you and I wish you success and happiness in your life!☺️👍❤️🔥

You can easily own apartments though. Great video! The Romanian people are very hospitable.
in ALL romanian villages from Romania, no exception , romanian farmers produce their own home made "tuica" , or "palinca" ,and mostly of them also "the red wine" , that famous red wine held in 2L bottles of "Cola" , so no matter if you are a romanian or a foreigner , if you are invited in their homes , they will invite you to drink these "magic potions" made by themselves

well last 4/5 years we almost had no winter in Romania but in Mountain side it might be a little cold! For example 10/15 years ago we used to had very hard winters like 50/60 cm of snow with streets closed and places stuck because of the storm, last year we had same problem with road closed in moldova side wich is North, East region but this bad weather least max 2 weeks or let's say 1 month... long time ago we used to have winter from november to march! Now with this global warming we used to have mountain zone like Poiana Brasov (skating zone some time ago) with no snow at all... not even the artificial snow can least because of the weather on ++
Its never to cold in wintertime, you can be ill prepared.... Buy a good wood stove, warm down or wollen blankets, woolen clothes, warm hat, shoes, and there you go! 🥃💪🏼🐑🦙🔥☃️❄️

Mate, it's quite common for mountain dogs (all races) to follow people on the paths and believe it or not they do it to protect you from wild animals, bears, wolves etc. I think it's somehow in their DNA to do that in our country. They are not trained like Saint Bernards for example, even stray dogs they do this all the time. Țuica is normally made from plums. I don't think that the guy who offered țuica is Turkish because he spoke only in Romanian and he was drinking alcohol, which the turks, being muslims (at least most of them), do not drink. Which means that the Turkish flag (IF it was really that!) was very puzzling...
The elders use objects for aesthetics or function and they almost never throw away anything. The flag was either a gift, or he must’ve found it. It’s common to see elders wearing a brand they have no idea about.

There are a lot of sunny days in winter too. The colder, the sunnier. To say "nice meeting you" one can say "mi-a făcut plăcere".
That’s a form of Latin! Romanian should be easy to learn for anyone who already has Latin, French, and a little Italian.
BTW, horse cannot climb ladders, so there must be another way in and out.

@@ekesandras1481 I experience that all the time in Bacau county.
As a Romanian guy I laughed a lot..All their lives the Romanians admired western civilization and wanted to live like "the American dream" and now the Americans and other western European people began to come to find isolated places in the mountains to flee from the greed of capitalism. This is where corporate capitalism brought us.
@Kikiryki
You forget Communism, caused their leading Bastards was always Capitalists.
Today the Play the Democravy Game, the Power behind are always greedy Capitalists.
We all getting fooled by different Parties which playing the Democracy Game, without to know what Democracy mean.
We getting told that comes from Greec language.
Demos = Folk
Cratos = Govern
But the old Greec Word Demos having a Total other meaning.
When cooking ANIMAL fat to seperaten the Solid from the liquid Part appearing on the surface a Kind of Vaporating Water and dirt which is fished and thrown away, I call it Scum.

Democracy mean the ruling of Scum and this is 100% what it is.😂
make sure you protect your lands your values your traditions and dont let anyone to come and start making business out of you and turn it into a village first then a capitalistic venture into a city.. Look what happened to Bali and the uncontacted tribes of the amazon forests. They are all the puppets of western culture tourists who cannot do any introspection they keep going to places instead of going inside and learn to sit still and be happy wherever they are. tourism is the most stupid thing anyone can do.

What a beautiful nature u r having bro......😊😊
This video brings back fond memories when I visited Alba Julia in 1996. One day we went up into the mountains, an hours drive away and it was like going back into another world.. we went through a small gorge and later we climbed up high up onto the mountain side, where we thought there was an almost deserted village. We met two of the inhabitants who are very friendly. Ah yes, the Tuica! Very powerful schnapps type of drink.
Welcome to Romania brother, thank you for showing the world the Romania beautiful land and unique nature and old traditions.
Good luck in the future travelling!🧳
I would like to visit, I appreciate any advice. 😊
That was enough to tell me all I needed to know about Belgian hospitality.
indeed: as a Belgian I truely appreciate the kindness of Romanian people... both in Belgium and in Romania...
In Belgium there is a language war going on; the eastern part (Wallonië) people speak French, the western part (Vlaanderen) people speak Dutch... And specially in Wallonië they often refuse to speak Dutch...
I'm from the Netherlands and i don't speak French, so i had also such a rude experience...🤨🫣🥴😔
But there are also a lot of very friendly Belgian people ✨💖✨
Speaking of judging the book by the covers, I am pretty sure not all Romanians are nice, and the same goes for Belgians

Super nice one Tim! What the man wanted to say about Maramures is that in antiquity Romans did not conquer there were the free Dacians. Otherwise our region of Maramures was under Hungarian Kingdom rule for centuries and also under Austro-Hungarian administration since 1867.....
More and more slavicised Dacians obviously
Loved this video. I am a Hungarian from Canada.
Oh wow, I'm glad you enjoyed my video. I can imagine it was different in those times. Luckily it's getting better and better now!
As someone who grew up in a rural area, this place feels great.I'd surely grow veggies and fruit-bearing trees here.

My wife is from Romania. We go back several times a year and plan to move there fulltime in a years when our youngest is done with high school. You have to either be a Romanian or EU citizen to own the actual land or you can own it through an entity if you are not a Romanian or EU citizen. You can also get a permit use for the land. You can easily own apartments though. Great video! The Romanian people are very hospitable.
That's awesome! I'm from the EU so that wouldn't be a problem luckily
in ALL romanian villages from Romania, no exception , romanian farmers produce their own home made "tuica" , or "palinca" ,and mostly of them also "the red wine" , that famous red wine held in 2L bottles of "Cola" , so no matter if you are a romanian or a foreigner , if you are invited in their homes , they will invite you to drink these "magic potions" made by themselves
I am delighted to see some people want to live a life within nature and not consumism ❤. Paradise, what you expect it to be where...we are already in it and destroying. May God will bring people together in wisdom.
They are the direct descendants of the Dacians, our ancestors from the ancient Kingdom of Dacia - actual Romania , from 2000 years ago. Here is a continuous living from antiquity. Here they are happy in nature, simple life.

Thank you for presenting our beautiful country Romania.
well last 4/5 years we almost had no winter in Romania but in Mountain side it might be a little cold!

Anyway, Romania is one of the best countries to be in, I traveled a lot too, more than 40 countries and islands so far, yet here is pretty much a good place for you to establish, maybe not so remotely but it's a great country overall. Nice video btw. All the best!

You have to come to Inelet during the winter, to have that kind of experience, to see what means to live in the winter time, and after that you will decide to buy or not!
Very beautiful part of the country and a special place, but not even close to being the most remote village in Romania. The staircase is not the only entrance to the village, actually you cand drive there from the opposite side.
Being an Romanian i couldn t belive you can speak with our elders
Țuica is normally made from plums. I don't think that the guy who offered țuica is Turkish because he spoke only in Romanian and he was drinking alcohol, which the turks, being muslims (at least most of them), do not drink. Which means that the Turkish flag (IF it was really that!) was very puzzling...
The elders use objects for aesthetics or function and they almost never throw away anything. The flag was either a gift, or he must’ve found it. It’s common to see elders wearing a brand they have no idea about.
