    This kid is a budding superstar. There aren't many players nowadays that play both ends of the floor as well as this kid does. And he's only 22.

    He's developing a lot, he'll be well known some day. He's so quiet, and he doesn't care about anything, the only thing he wants is play. God will bless u 4ever because u have something especial inside of u, it's the magic heart that u have. Leonard, u will be the MVP one day. From Angola-Africa to San Antonio-USA.

    what kawhi has is that extreme hardwork on both ends . offense and defense. doesn't even have that all-star attitude. humble as fk. kd said his only good because his on spurs system. i wonder is kd defense so amazing because his not on spurs. kd has amazing scoring ability. but his defense is so far from his offense level. sorry for my bad english

    He reminds me a lot of scottie pippen, the way he defends, shoots, dunks, post up, lay up.

    • @drewc1179
      @drewc1179 10 років тому +1

      Good comparison, but like I mentioned above, Leonard doesn't quite have the same vert.... Although Pippen didn't have the same athleticism as MJ, he could still dunk from the free throw line and could get his head up near the rim when he dunked. The closest Leonard has gotten was the put back dunk against Miami and his head, while in the vicinity of the rim, was still quite a ways off.

    • @boypula
      @boypula 10 років тому +4

      drew c yup i agree, we'll he's still 22 he could improve a lot plus you know how the spurs do maybe he could dunk from the line he just doesn't do it because the spurs don't like flashy players and pop wouldn't let players do highlight reel dunks, there's still a lot that we don't know about leonard.

      I have to disagree. Marion was never a guy who could take the ball coast to coast nor did he have an off the dribble game. I've seen some plays that kawaii has made that reminded me of marion (that block on westbrook) but they're a lot different. One being that Marion was a lot more explosive athletically

    All of the people who think that KL is where he is now cause of the "system" is delusional. All teams need a "go to" guy who can score and create even the Spurs. Like Dave, TD, Manu, Tony, Ice Man. KL has grown a lot, i only got to know him after he was traded to us but he quickly became one of my favorite players. Each year, he learned a new trick, he can shoot, drive, finish strong and post up now. I believe he can be our next "go to" guy. He finally broke out and Pop knew it so he pushed him harder. He was the big reason we won so many games in the reg season and even bigger in the post season where things matter the most. This guy can BALL!!! He guarded the best player in the world and still helped on defense. U think LBJ wouldn't have dropped like 60, 70 if he had the chance for the Heat to win? Not only that, KL dropped more than 20 points in the last 3 games yet against LBJ "one of the best defensive players in the leauge" without a single play drawn for him. And don't pull out that shit "he scored so much cause he's a role player whom no one cares about", i believe that after game 3 the Heat or LBJ would have put out plans on how to stop him but the guy still shot more than 60% "enough said". The system is one thing but you also need to have the talent and the will, and that's Kawhi Leonard. You don't need to be an All-star and all that shit to be great, look at Roy Hibbert =)) KL has just found the rhythm to his game so don't put down his achivements.

      And also he can jump, but if it only needs 30 inches of vertical for him to dunk, he wouldn't jump 40 or more to perform a spectacular forehead-hoop dunk like what Blake Griffin usually does. This is why his dunks always look so soft, he inherits the spirit of Spurs--Stay low profile. Like I just post, he has almost got all the elements of pure basketball, he is an all around players, a future super star. He needs the Spurs system, but the Spurs system also needs him.

For me his stardom is no suprise and truly well deserved. NBA Champion and Finals MVP 2014

    Kawhi Leonard's ability to simultaneously defend both ball-handler and passing lane often obstructs the opposition's offensive flow, and the rebounding he provides at his position has given the Spurs flexibility in terms of the lineups they can play. Kawhi's also growing increasingly confident in his jumpshot (both midrange and long-distance), and with time, will become that much more polished in the post and comfortable in the role of play-maker. Happy birthday Kawhi; continued success/expansion.

      Perry Reacher There are more ways good defense can affect players. They may have shot a high percentage, but committed a lot of turnovers. KD and LeBron are both hard to stop, but they can be forced into more turnovers by making them work harder through tough defense. Other ways good defense can affect players is lowering Free throw attempts and lower field goal attempts(through ball-denial and forcing passes). There is more to good defense than just lowering FG%.

  • @JonathanGonzalez-lg2oi
    @JonathanGonzalez-lg2oi 10 років тому

    Been waiting for his highlights thanks b. He def got that MJ one/two dribble mid range pull up. He is improving his game every year. He got the D.Wade two step (like everyone else lol) and is in the ranks of the top defender in terms of one on one and reading(living) in the passing lane. Its great to see him improve and develop new moves while being in that system. Danny Green showed some skills as far ss putting the ball on the floor and making floaters and even some contested layups. It takes powerful men to develop and remain in a system that doesn't allow for much showcase of single talent. Kawhi is gonna be great.

  • @Abrian12
    @Abrian12 10 років тому

    Kawhi is phenomenal. He not only plays with those powerful hands, but it seems he uses his body to intimidate and once he goes airborne, KA-WOW!. He appears to be shy, but absolutely knows what he's doing. In the beginning of final game, I think the spurs made Miami run, run and run until they became tired, then SA took full advantage. Miami looked confused.

  • @Jkwl09
    @Jkwl09 10 років тому +1

    His hands are so beautiful

  • @Rfranklinz45
    @Rfranklinz45 10 років тому +1

    what makes Kawhi so difficult to deal with is his body. He has the length, strength, and post moves of a PF, yet the height, speed, and shooting of a wing. if you put a 2 or 3 on him, he'll destroy them in the low post or just muscle past them. If you put a 4 on him, he can step out and drain 3s or use that turnaround fader he's developed over the past year. Either way he'll defend the other team's best player, grab a ton of boards, and all this without ever once complaining or chest-pounding. Let him polish his ball skills just a bit more and continue to improve his face-up game, and he'll be a top 10 player.
    And what's truly scary? He is quickly developing into one of the best mid-range shooters in the league. And that, not the dunks, nor the 3ball, but the MIDRANGE, is what made MJ un-guardable. It's a lost art, the mid-range jumper, but when you can knock it down consistently, it opens up the entire offensive game.

    One thing about Kawhi Leonard he is a more defensive player that is why coach pop put him at starting five with that big hand and long arms he is everywhere steals block make it hard for team to set plays... People don't make boast of Leonard we know he can be better but he is a humble and shy type person im surely he doesn't want fame he just want to play team basketball that is all but Leonard has a very very big future ahead! Better defensively than PG24, just check his defense on LBJ vs Paul George defense on LBJ. Also, George isn't consistent on offense... Leonard is improving offensively. Yes, put Paul George in SA & he'll win a ship... But put Kwahi in IND & he'll bring heart & will to that team. Just think, kwahi in Indiana can beat Miami in 6/7 games. This guy is nice, I don't see how anyone can hate kwahi. He's quiet, humble, don't like attention that much... & he goes out there and gets the job done without complaining, he doesn't have any negative off the court attention either, just an overall good dude.

      Because he's the young pup in the team playing behind 3 hall of famers. He'll get more touches for sure next season though.

      Spurs were 60+ W this year and have been 50+ for a while. They have systematic approach and when its not broke, don't fix it. Duncan and Parker have been doing their thing and the Spurs have a methodological win it all mentality, there was no need for him to be carrying the team unlike someone like Lebron or Melo, the entire team has depth and they just cruise

    • @Rfranklinz45
      @Rfranklinz45 10 років тому +2

      He only gets a few touches per game, and no plays are drawn for him. Once the big 3 retire and it's his team, we'll get to see his full potential, but for now, he's the 4th man behind 3 guaranteed first ballot hall of famers.

    I just can't say he's better than Paul George. Both are excellent defenders, excellent rebounders at their position, and exceptional athletes, but offensively, Paul George is in another stratosphere. Now don't get me wrong, Kawhi Leonard is an very good, young player with great upside, but a nice chunk of his offense is the product of the Spurs' offensive system. Meanwhile, Paul George is on the opposite end of the spectrum! He is the Pacers' offense! No disrespect to Kawhi, I am actually really impressed by his play, but I simply cannot agree that he is the better player.

      How do you know Leonard isn't better than Paul George individually? We don't see Leonard isolate as much as George because the Spurs know to win you need to run plays, not individual players taking turns to create.

    I agree kawhi Leonard is better than Paul George. They are both really good but kawhi Leonard came to play in the playoffs against Miami. He started out slow in the first 2 games but then destroyed Miami. Paul George had only one good game against Miami. Kawhi is the future of San Antonio and has a really bright future! Amazing talent and he is the best Lebron defender!
