    As his post game continues to develop, it will be sooo deadly. Think about it: his post moves are already really quick. He has the speed to put moves on bigger defenders and he has the length and strength to to back down and shoot over smaller defenders. Awesome.

    This dude is EFFICIENT! And by that I mean, he doesn't waste energy on unnecessary fluff. He doesn't do anything with flair, for example, but that's actually a compliment. Like, look at his dunks. No exaggerated, heavy up and downs; he lifts the ball just high enough to clear the rim. The steals: he lunges just far enough to get the ball, and he doesn't waste time fumbling afterwards either. The ball just magnetically attaches to his hands. Everything he does is very... precise. There's something to be said about this refreshing style of play in this era of superstars and their need for attention at all times. Kawhi is just a very unassuming guy.

      there's a rumor that
      if anyone on the spurs floor does anything fancy costing them to miss a basket or a turnover, the guy has to buy Greg Pop a new car.

      very well said and i agree with you 200% he is athletic but also very fundamentally sounded( using the old school standard before anything like kobe or ai came into the league). the efficiency you talk about is something missing for a very long time for an athletic defensive player ( the last one i remember that one can use this term to describe properly was grant hill) his style also might have been contributed by the spurs coaching as well. perfect combination for this rising star. refreshing is right, especially when you see how inefficient kobe has been all his career.
      in terms of physical gift he also possesses the traditional great defensive player body type. long arm, big hand, quick feet. height around 6'7. i really hope that the spur will keep him as long as possible.

      popeyeisgood sad thing is SAS will probably have to give him a max contract next year now that he insists on going into restricted free agent next summer.
      TP will still be The Guy for the team, having Kawhi at max contract is not the best option for the team. (but I am pretty sure the spurs will keep him anyways)

    I never knew he had such a complete game. He has some pretty good post moves, he can pull up, he can shoot threes, he can finish at the rim, he is a BEAST on the fastbreak, AND he can defend. What I don't understand is why the spurs don't utilize him more so he can average 20+. I guess they don't have to since the team is there to back him up but he has so much potential.

    • @Rfranklinz45
      @Rfranklinz45 10 років тому +1

      He's the 4th option with the big 3 still around. In about 3 years when Tim and Manu are gone, and Tony is older, it'll be his team.

  • @Rfranklinz45
    @Rfranklinz45 10 років тому

    I absolutely love Kawhi. When he was drafted and traded to the Spurs, there were question marks about his strength, his jumpshot, and adjusting to a league where it would be much harder to pull down boards than his college days. He put in heavy work at the gym, built up his body, worked with Chip Engellend on his jumper (note his offhand elbow, major change from college days), while maintaining the same crazy energy level and humble attitude he had in college. He's simple, yet explosive. Gifted, yet hard-working. A Finals MVP, yet one of the most humble, down-to-earth guys in the league. I'm pretty excited as a Spurs fan, knowing that 3 or 4 years down the line when Tim Tony and Manu are retiring, we have guys like Kawhi, Danny, and Patty taking over. Keep up the good work Leonard :D

    Eventually this year you gotta make another Isaiah Thomas mix, especially the way he's been playing this season. Regarding this video, the Spurs seem set to still be in championship contention even after Timmy hangs it up. They can build around Kawhi and still have a very good team. The only problem would be that Greg Popovich won't be there forever, but you have to think he'll only trust one of his assistants to take that job considering how they learned everything from him. Kawhi, he just doesn't look rushed at all when he plays. He just does his thing under the radar, which is a perfect fit for the Spurs.

    • @Numba12Cede
      @Numba12Cede 10 років тому

      Yea definetly but in a few years or so when he becomes the 1st or 2nd option he wont be "flying under the radar" so much. I think when the big three is gone he will definetly be more aggressive and when he does i cant see y he cant avg 20pts 8rbs 2stls. The Scottie comparison is pretty legit but i think he could be a Bruce Bowen 2.0 with all-defensive honors.

      youngdas19 i say yes he is far from being a jordan..given that rookie jordan would outshine any superstars in the league today ( if one doesn't believe me, go watch the full games on youtube).
      but yea he has the potential to be similar type of player like pippen. if i have to subjectively compare leonard to the same stage of pippen i would say pippen seemed to edge leonard in both ends. pippen was also smoother in terms of ball handling. leonard shut down lebron in his 3 rd year and performed big in the final. while pippen combined with jordan sort of shut down magic to some degree ( i would say magic would be more difficult to guard than lebron due to his actual presence of post game, not to mention the superior court vision compared to lebron). but the cultures of the bulls and the spurs now are very different. jordan was very dominant in both ends and the spurs is more evenly spread in terms of responsibility. and leonard happened to be the most athletic one that was capable of checking lebron. it is really hard to say. but scottie pippen really started to shine all season long in his 4th season, and this is kawhi's 4th too, it will be interesting to see where he will be heading.

Although he will definitely be missed (as will his sidelined teammates), hopefully the Spurs continue to display the same grit and togetherness they showed against the Thunder after Leonard's exit. Upon returning, remember to trust your instincts Kawhi, as well as your skillset. Best of health to you as your injury heals, and I look forward to seeing you back on the court.

      it's kind of sad they either had TP9 or manu or TD21 injured going into the playoffs in all those years...
      hill and neal could have a ring if GDP were healthy those years.

    how could kd not acknowledge this guy? he's attacking the basket in a beautiful manner, not waiting for a good assist from parker to have an open shot.

    When Derrick Rose was injured i love Leonard. He deserve what he got now. But Derrick Rose is back. I love the moves of Rose. Rose is the best and i like him coz he's humble. Keep it up my boy.
