As his post game continues to develop, it will be sooo deadly. Think about it: his post moves are already really quick. He has the speed to put moves on bigger defenders and he has the length and strength to to back down and shoot over smaller defenders. Awesome.
Look at him now
This dude is EFFICIENT! And by that I mean, he doesn't waste energy on unnecessary fluff. He doesn't do anything with flair, for example, but that's actually a compliment. Like, look at his dunks. No exaggerated, heavy up and downs; he lifts the ball just high enough to clear the rim. The steals: he lunges just far enough to get the ball, and he doesn't waste time fumbling afterwards either. The ball just magnetically attaches to his hands. Everything he does is very... precise. There's something to be said about this refreshing style of play in this era of superstars and their need for attention at all times. Kawhi is just a very unassuming guy.
there's a rumor that
if anyone on the spurs floor does anything fancy costing them to miss a basket or a turnover, the guy has to buy Greg Pop a new car.
matt lam Omg! better not do anything fancy than lol
very well said and i agree with you 200% he is athletic but also very fundamentally sounded( using the old school standard before anything like kobe or ai came into the league). the efficiency you talk about is something missing for a very long time for an athletic defensive player ( the last one i remember that one can use this term to describe properly was grant hill) his style also might have been contributed by the spurs coaching as well. perfect combination for this rising star. refreshing is right, especially when you see how inefficient kobe has been all his career.
in terms of physical gift he also possesses the traditional great defensive player body type. long arm, big hand, quick feet. height around 6'7. i really hope that the spur will keep him as long as possible.
popeyeisgood u r right...
popeyeisgood sad thing is SAS will probably have to give him a max contract next year now that he insists on going into restricted free agent next summer.
TP will still be The Guy for the team, having Kawhi at max contract is not the best option for the team. (but I am pretty sure the spurs will keep him anyways)
He is very underrated.
Those massive hands. Kawhi dunks like Jordan used to. He uses the ball the same way. Beautiful to watch.
Wow great take.
I like how he is efficient and not flashy
pretty nice offensive game for a guy who was drafted mainly because of his defensive abilities..I can't wait to see Kawhi next year. MIP I'm calling it right now :)
This dude has superstar written all over him. He can already shut down your best player and rebound with the best of them. Reminds me of Dennis Rodman in a way, only Leonard can shoot the 3 ball.
he reminds me of scottie
The Spurs are a much better team with him, and that's scary for the rest of the NBA lol
his stats and build are very similar to scottie pippen. Give him another year or two and he could very well be just as good. :D
Yep, he's still learning. All this playoff experience is great for him. He actually keeps his mouth shut and listens too. He'll be a silent star like Duncan.
Jason Ferreira You think Kawaii Leonard is going to win at least three finals mvps?
Kawhi's style of play is like he has been developed in the 90's. Pressure D and fast break scoring with athleticism like Pippen. Still has things to work on but man can he BALL!
So Underrated.... #notcool
Kawhi Leonard got real skill.
Excellent defense.Almost every game had block.
Excellent view.
Excellent speed.
Excellent body resistance.
He is good.He had his own style.
I like it.
Absolutely true
THE GOAT.
so happy that you show some love to kawhi! A defensive specialist with HUGE potensial
KAWHI IS THE MAN!!! He has potential to be the best defensive wing in the league for years! i want him to start attacking the rim more though...especially from the mid-post area!
welp
I love that you added a defense part of the vid. All those defense to offense play happen every game he plays :) I cant wait to see him back in action
7 years later is now the best player in the nba
This guy is something. Thanks for the defensive highlights. Hes a total package
FINALLY! KAWHI LEONARD HIGHLIGHTS! I've been waiting man...foreal
this video is gnna be hiting millions .. millions of heat fans will hoop on this
Love his game. Love his left-handed dunks even more! This summer is dedicated to working on my left because of him. Can't wait to see what he brings in the years to come.
I miss these Spurs 😢
I never knew he had such a complete game. He has some pretty good post moves, he can pull up, he can shoot threes, he can finish at the rim, he is a BEAST on the fastbreak, AND he can defend. What I don't understand is why the spurs don't utilize him more so he can average 20+. I guess they don't have to since the team is there to back him up but he has so much potential.
He's the 4th option with the big 3 still around. In about 3 years when Tim and Manu are gone, and Tony is older, it'll be his team.
I absolutely love Kawhi. When he was drafted and traded to the Spurs, there were question marks about his strength, his jumpshot, and adjusting to a league where it would be much harder to pull down boards than his college days. He put in heavy work at the gym, built up his body, worked with Chip Engellend on his jumper (note his offhand elbow, major change from college days), while maintaining the same crazy energy level and humble attitude he had in college. He's simple, yet explosive. Gifted, yet hard-working. A Finals MVP, yet one of the most humble, down-to-earth guys in the league. I'm pretty excited as a Spurs fan, knowing that 3 or 4 years down the line when Tim Tony and Manu are retiring, we have guys like Kawhi, Danny, and Patty taking over. Keep up the good work Leonard :D
you can tell this kid has been learning much from his teammates
those spin moves when driving the lane
those long stepback fadaways
and those low post up and under
let's not forget he's been learning manu's signature euro step :]
This whole highlight reel is like a defense highlight lolz this guys is a beast! reminds me of a young ron artest.
He looks very skilled in the post aswell very talented kid
San Antonio better hang on to him.
Of course they gonna hang onto the Finals MVP.
#SPURS2014CHAMPIONS
Manee
This was when he was starting to show signs of being something more
They use to cheer him.....now they boo him....wow! , its sad.
Is there anyone more quietly brilliant than this guy?
Leonard's gotten a lot better at passing off the dribble. If he was allowed to create more in the Spurs system, I can see him turning into a solid secondary ball-handler. It's amazing how much he's grown the past three years.
Amazing! Thankful to have him play for our spurs family! (8
I like the way he plays basketball. He plays it 90's ball, not too fancy but straight to the point. He reminds me so much if scottie pippen.
very humble player i love it
he is long and has great fundamental.
I love to see him in Spur's jersey for long time!!
I love his game..If i was still playing ball i would want to model my game after his. His defense is what makes him the total package.
So many steals and points in transition. Damn.
There's really not much of a highlight out of Kauai Leonard other names coast to coast dunks and rebounded poke back but he's a hell of a good player and a fundamental player in the team. He is so quiet and humble that he only run what's good for the team
Wow, this guy is very focused and he plays clean.. no over actings and fair..
Eventually this year you gotta make another Isaiah Thomas mix, especially the way he's been playing this season. Regarding this video, the Spurs seem set to still be in championship contention even after Timmy hangs it up. They can build around Kawhi and still have a very good team. The only problem would be that Greg Popovich won't be there forever, but you have to think he'll only trust one of his assistants to take that job considering how they learned everything from him. Kawhi, he just doesn't look rushed at all when he plays. He just does his thing under the radar, which is a perfect fit for the Spurs.
Yea definetly but in a few years or so when he becomes the 1st or 2nd option he wont be "flying under the radar" so much. I think when the big three is gone he will definetly be more aggressive and when he does i cant see y he cant avg 20pts 8rbs 2stls. The Scottie comparison is pretty legit but i think he could be a Bruce Bowen 2.0 with all-defensive honors.
A young pippen all day
Best NBA highlight vids on UA-cam, or anywhere else for that matter. Thanks!
that and one against klay thompson was amazing lol most guys just chuck it up, but you can see the ease and concentration in his face when he does that
I love the defensive highlights
2:17 Just Flawless, Kawhi is definitely "The Silent Assassin"
the defense segments are great..do those on every video please.
spurs are ridiculously lucky, falling into one franchise player after another. once duncan retires, they can build the team around this guy.
They still need another big man to replace timmy.
Lucky? R u kidding? Tony parker is a low first round, Manu is a 2nd rounder, Kawhi Leonard is the 2nd rounder also.without the vision of the manager in the draft system, how can they find gold out of dirt.
Pop is so good developing players. From Timmy, Manu, Tony and now this guy. Maybe Danny Green will come up next too.. or Patty Mills if he stays at Spurs.
Splitter is a good temporary replacement for tim when he retires. He is a pretty solid big man/
luck is no excuse, give credit to the spurs organization (great scouting, coaching, etc. etc)
This dude is a Finals MVP. Wow!
Another tough break on the injury front for SA, as they will now be without Kawhi for a bit (finger). Although he will definitely be missed (as will his sidelined teammates), hopefully the Spurs continue to display the same grit and togetherness they showed against the Thunder after Leonard's exit. Upon returning, remember to trust your instincts Kawhi, as well as your skillset. Best of health to you as your injury heals, and I look forward to seeing you back on the court.
This kid is the future of the Spurs! Watch out for him!
Kawhi is My favorite NBA player right now... so quite but so Humble!
Another great job!
Mark Leonard has heaven glowing with the biggest brightest smile ever because his son Kawhi Leonard is the 2014 MVP in the NBA Championship
Show some love to this guy!
Remind me of Scottie Pippen, Long hand, DEFENSIVE minded, can shoot, can drive, post up...I'm sure he will become elite Defensive player
Shoulda been defensive player of the year. This man is amazing. I think he has no flaws.
I credit Steve Fisher for his defensive skill set. The SDSU team is known as a defense-minded squad.
Kawhi is a superstar and I'm glad we are able to witness it.
The humble beast.
This guy is very talented and fits so well with the spurs character. He'll have to carry the weight once Ginobli and Duncan retire.
If this guy can post up more, he's gonna be deadly
i think he can, he just doesn't do it as much since they run smoother and more effective plays.
I don't think he really has to considering how good the Spurs offense is
Besides Kawhi being a beast out there. It just seems like the Spurs are blowing out the opposite team in every single clip lol
Dat boy it raw as hell im rockn wit da spurs all the way
that's why the spurs rock.
you can see he's really humble and works on defense. not your average james harden
Great player overall looking forward to him in the future
That's Kawhi is the NBA Finals MVP. He's a complete monster. That Kawhi Leonard-George Hill trade really paid off & I love it but appreciate George Hill's 3 years from 2008-2011 with the Spurs, Thank you GH3.
it's kind of sad they either had TP9 or manu or TD21 injured going into the playoffs in all those years...
hill and neal could have a ring if GDP were healthy those years.
It sucks but injuries happen, they happen at any time.
Manu Ginobili's more recent highlights and his AMAZING passes.
Lets Go Spurs!!!
HIS MOVES IS REALLY SIMILAR TO PIPPEN AND MJ!!!
Is that Scottie Pippen's son?
And he steals the ball like Pippen too!
The closest player to Pippen since he retired, can't wait to watch him get better and rise even higher!
Sylvain Oppizzi I think u forgot about Andre Igoudala
+Jua Grey idk bsides height and build difference of Iggy and Scottie, to me Iggy is more of a two but then again Suger K does have a higher cieling than Iggy.
Let's see, big hands, long arms, defensive minded, athletic, tracy mcgrady in his younger days?
Non-dunking highlights start around 5:00 for those that are as bored of those as I am.
legendary career so underrated being in the kd/lebron/steph era
So glad we got him and George Hill went to the Pacers :D
He resembles Scottie Pippens game. the only difference is Scottie is more of setting the tempo up and Leonard is a mix of slasher and setting up from the mid range..but defensively and the way they go take it to the hole in fast break or contested they both are surprisingly the same.
most of his plays were essentially defense turned into offense...what a guy
They confused me when they switched to "defensive" highlights ;)
Hey NBAClutchTime can you try and post Marco Belinelli highlights please?
MVP Sugar K Leonard you the Man
future hall of famer just watch i am telling!!!!!!!!
Yay! Kawhi has one! #SpurNation Biiggggg Spur fan!!!! Kawhi is good man.. Glad San Antonio picked him up.. Sad Gary Neal gone tho:(
Amazing player. Next MJ!
Stop doing drugs he plays nothing like MJ and isn't even close to him. He's more like Pippen and will never even be as good as Pip was. Do you even watch basketball?
youngdas19 He can definitely be as good as Pippen
youngdas19 pippen will not be pippen without mj
youngdas19 i say yes he is far from being a jordan..given that rookie jordan would outshine any superstars in the league today ( if one doesn't believe me, go watch the full games on youtube).
but yea he has the potential to be similar type of player like pippen. if i have to subjectively compare leonard to the same stage of pippen i would say pippen seemed to edge leonard in both ends. pippen was also smoother in terms of ball handling. leonard shut down lebron in his 3 rd year and performed big in the final. while pippen combined with jordan sort of shut down magic to some degree ( i would say magic would be more difficult to guard than lebron due to his actual presence of post game, not to mention the superior court vision compared to lebron). but the cultures of the bulls and the spurs now are very different. jordan was very dominant in both ends and the spurs is more evenly spread in terms of responsibility. and leonard happened to be the most athletic one that was capable of checking lebron. it is really hard to say. but scottie pippen really started to shine all season long in his 4th season, and this is kawhi's 4th too, it will be interesting to see where he will be heading.
@@Rfranklinz45 better then pippen
When Derrick Rose was injured i love Leonard. He deserve what he got now. But Derrick Rose is back. I love the moves of Rose. Rose is the best and i like him coz he's humble. Keep it up my boy.
great vid as usual
Lebron needs guy like this
No. Kawhi's staying in the Spurs. LeBron can go cry a river
FUCK LeBron!!!
he beats lebron
LeBron needs good coaching. Shit Miami needs good coaching. I need good coaching
Sam____ well thats not going to happen. He is going to have fun with David Blatt in Cleveland, if Blatt is a good coach.
Pretty crazy when you think hes only 22, imagine how good hes going to become
The Spurs Kawhi Leonard MVP Nba Finals Leonard Amazing Dunk
how could kd not acknowledge this guy? he's attacking the basket in a beautiful manner, not waiting for a good assist from parker to have an open shot.
future of the spurs hopefully
Very good kuwhi Leonard you are the best..... :-)
He got the final MVP 2014 today!!!
My Goodness! :D a new star is born...
Is this his second or third year? I cant remember, but man it was a blast seeing him kick the heats ass. He'll be on the allstar team for sure next year!
The description says "defensive highlights start at 10:39", but almost every offensive highlight was setup by more of Kawhi's defense. So nearly all of his highlights are defensive highlights.
Kawhi its time for you rise up
How am i not subbed to you?!
Kawhi Leonard is the bomb love S A
The one that killed the big 3
My idol kawhi leonard
From: philippines
Gospursgo
I would build a franchise around this kid, right now.
let's win this on Father's Day. Your dad is so proud of you !
Goat 🐐
Amazing, he makes a steal without fouling so easy!
He's a mad man
