This Spurs team was a thing of beauty. I cannot blame the Heat’s loss. They cannot or no one can figure the Spurs’ play that year. Every fkn teammate held the ball with an open shot!! You need 3 eyes to guard one of them. Heat can’t blink cause if they do, the one they guarding will be holding the ball fkn ball. This Spurs team was poetry in motion!
This is why 2014 Spurs championship was the greatest among the NBA Finals. Defeated back to back champs Heat with 3 all stars. And looking at the Finals stats, Spurs had a balance scoring that no one ever average above 20ppg in the series. As the analysts would say, they played beautiful team basketball.
23:22 I love the symbolism here. Lebron and Dwayne cooly sitting in their mini car whilst Timmy walks behind seriously. The defending champions cooly sitting on their thrones as the runner-up passionately seeks to dethrone him. It puts on display between the Spurs and the Heat. The Heat are full of swagger and arrogance but the Spurs are serious and on a mission. They want this championship badly and just looking at the defending champs resting cooly makes their blood boil. I love this team
They acted foolish and above it all and Timmy came back and showed them who’s boss. Reminds me of the finals they had against the Mavs where they made fun of dirk being sick and were mocking him. But dirk was quiet and all business and eventually won and put them in their place, just like Timmy. It’s the international players for the most part that just play more team focused and aren’t as fussed with being in the media’s eye. This is why I love players like Timmy, dirk, Jokic.
Tim Duncan was hurt to his core in 2013, and it showed. I’ve never seen such determination in sports before in my life. It was almost hard to watch how surgical the Spurs were that year. They knew from the very start that they’d win it all.
I will forever be greatful for the spurs for allowing me to experience my team and my city win a championship it was so special, I will never forget that summer in 2014
We were so determined that year after that brutal finals loss the previous year. We were kicking ass the whole season going on 5 and 10 game win streaks like nothing. I think we won like 15 or 16 games in a row that year and then wiped the floor with the Heat in the finals. I'll remember that season til I die
The series was tied 1-1 headed over to Miami, where the Heat were undefeated in the playoffs, then Kawhi Leonard took over and the REAL Kawhi was born... 24ppg-9rpg-2apg-2spg-2bpg on 68fg%-54thr%-84ft% in 3 straight wins by an average of 19 points a game. CHAMPIONSHIP!
no, series tied 1-1 then Popovich switches Diaw into the starting lineup to generate ball movement and as a help defender on Lebron. after Pop switches Diaw into the starting lineup they start winning by 20pts.
@@Vastatio bwahahahaha one dude averaged 6ppg on 36% shooting (Diaw), the other averaged 24ppg on 68% shooting (kawhi). LeBron averaged 27ppg on 56% shooting in those three games, Diaw didn't do jack... Kawhi made the difference, period

I was rooting for the Pacers to make the East. I was furious that it was gonna be another Finals with the Spurs and the Heat. But then I sucked it up and decided to root hard for the Spurs and got the best feeling of revenge. They’ve been my Western Conference team ever since.
After rewatching these videos, it is more clear to me now that Tim Duncan's approach to the game was far superior to Lebron's approach. Duncan always had the true mindset of team play, even in his speeches post or pre-game he would always refer to his team using terms like 'we & us'. Lebron almost all the time would be the opposite, trying to carry his team on his shoulders, using terms like 'I & me'. He always wanted to be a one man show for as long as he's been in the NBA, which in my opinion is his ultimate demise against the Spurs.
yeah exactly, i noticed that too... especially in the 13' finals video. wade was almost as dominate as lebron, but there's all those soundbites of lebron acting like the entire responsibility rests on him to get the job done. he used to be incredibly self-centered and thought the league revolved around him. his mindset has changed a little as he's aged, but that hero complex was so annoying to me back in that era of basketball.

This Spurs team doesn’t get enough talk about being one of greatest teams in history this Spurs team was a team
Best revenge tour ever...God I love how the spurs play.. favorite team in terms of play style. How the game is supposed to be played.
As a football (soccer) who occasionally watch nba.Manu, Parker, and Duncan were amongst the trio ive really enjoyed

San Antonio made the rest of nba more comfortable getting European players.
We have the same Thought. After this European players scattered around the NBA..
Dallas Mavericks too
23:22 I love the symbolism here.
1:52 lebron is talking about the media while Duncan is all business
Truly says a lot.
8 years, and the goosebumps still here.
Tim Duncan was hurt to his core in 2013, and it showed. I’ve never seen such determination in sports before in my life.
It was almost hard to watch how surgical the Spurs were that year. They knew from the very start that they’d win it all.
His teammates wanted that championship 4 him
He was actually being vocal smh that's scary
I will forever be greatful for the spurs for allowing me to experience my team and my city win a championship it was so special, I will never forget that summer in 2014
The mini-movies are always done very well. You can relive the finals by watching them.
Back when I enjoyed watching the nba. Amazing what 6 short years can do
This was the best basketball I’ve ever seen and we can’t forget that the Heat were a top 3 defense.
Man I remember this vividly! Watching this in 2021 makes me so emotional and makes me feel good! 😢😭🥺 We truly are the best team in the NBA NGL!
In the world * for any team sport in my opinion from what I've seen there's so much heart
I love this team, there players was from different countries in the world..and they're the most humbled team. #SpursForever
Pre-covid. Man I miss this type of energy from NBA stadiums. Hope to see this again soon
Duncan not being greedy with money let his team have SO many good players
I love how lebron is trying to chat and Duncan just smiles
He more concerned about what the media gone say😂 Timmy D just patted him & got ready 2ball
We were so determined that year after that brutal finals loss the previous year. We were kicking ass the whole season going on 5 and 10 game win streaks like nothing. I think we won like 15 or 16 games in a row that year and then wiped the floor with the Heat in the finals. I'll remember that season til I die
We had a 19 game winning streak that year. It was gorgeous.
Mvp status!!
That’s because Lebron’s defense was so atrocious on Kawhi.
no, series tied 1-1 then Popovich switches Diaw into the starting lineup to generate ball movement and as a help defender on Lebron.
after Pop switches Diaw into the starting lineup they start winning by 20pts.
@@raph3767 watch the game noob, Diaw the reason Spurs offense tick during the final
Damn. What a TEAM. We had it so good here in SA for a long time. I wonder when another dynasty will come along like that for this city.
Happy 10 years to the best NBA championship team in world history! Love my Spurs!
“You made some shots you played good D I’m proud of you” coach of the year
Ikr 🤣🤣🤣 pop is funny as hell.
2022
And im still watching this.
I miss the old spurs :(
Heat got their ass whooped by the old man trio
And a young buck.
Because the NBA was so watered down that nobody could beat an old man trio.
@@chrisuncleahmad789 This was probably tge greatest spurs team in their history, the ball movement, thd shooting, the defense, mix of young and veterans. Dont talk if you dont know what you're saying
Ath B a bunch of geezers passing the ball and nobody could stop them...... SMH
@@eNxO777x if they were all in prime that would be insane
This spurs team was one of the best teams ever they had Timmy crashing the boards and getting buckets in the paint, u had tony Parker who would set everybody up with pretty passes, u had manu who could shoot the lights out and attack the basket, and obviously a young Kawhi who was just doing Kawhi things
Its 2024 but 2014 spurs is still unforgettable #GSG
Wish there was a love button. !! Love my San Antonio Spurs❤️💪🏽💯💯
I was going through basic training in San Antonio in 2014, the San Antonio people were so fired up. Amazing fans 💪🏽
It's 2022 and i am here watching this again. Shout out to all Spurs fans out there! We will be on the top again soon...
16:12 This is why Pop is the goat
When Manu Ginobili slammed, that ball in Game 5, it was over!
Reminded the clock a lil bit
Watching spurs in this series is artistry.
Those unselfish passes
Just watched this again after Pop's 1336th win. Watching this, you could feel how he is really invested in his players, personally and professionally. He cares about all of his players and makes sure to make an impact on each one of them. A great coach he is. Even greater as a person.
One the best finals series ever
Miss these guys . I live in San Antonio n damn I'm grateful for what they bring. I was brought up looking at the Spurs. die hard fan here. We sent lbj home to the cavs
Can we give props 2 Diaw
I don’t think no other city loves there basketball team as much as San Antonio🤧
I’m a Kobe guy but this is my most memorable Finals. And I’m sure this is the most watched rivalry, those Heat teams were major and Twitter was huge back then as well.
Last year before the Warrior Dynasty-still mad love to the Spurs
Zaza Pachulia changed the Spurs 4ever.
First NBA game I’ve ever watched was a finals game between these two. Loved Duncan ever since.
THE SPURS WERE OUT FOR BLOOD! I LOVE IT ! TOTAL DESTRUCTION !
They played with a purpose 4real. Revenge all over even down 2 Splitter getting his dunk back
Damn kawhi was only 23 this season & balled tf out & won the fmvp💯👑
he was 22 actually
I wish he would have stayed n SA. I think he fit so well with the culture. His uncle got n his ear
idc what anybody says, this is THE best team in NBA history. they defeated the three headed monster that was MIA in record fashion. and i, personally, don’t think we’ll see this margin of victory in the Finals ever again
86 celtics amd they are the best passing team of all time go watch them play
the 2014 San Antonio Spurs play the game the same way and that's why they champions and they are one the greatest teams of all time
I miss Celtics as 2008 finals , I miss Spurs as 2014 finals... Old Good Days ☘️U ... Now Nba and the World are Tasteless 😞
This team makes me love NBA
Fuck I'm in tears. 😔 I MISS SEEING THEIR HUMBLENESS IN THE COURT
One of the greatest Finals ever.
And maaan what a complete team, legendary coach, selfless superstars completely awesome!!
This never gets old!!!! I love it!!!
Look at manu! So inspirational!!
I was rooting for the Pacers to make the East. I was furious that it was gonna be another Finals with the Spurs and the Heat. But then I sucked it up and decided to root hard for the Spurs and got the best feeling of revenge. They’ve been my Western Conference team ever since.
This Spurs team was fun to watch but nobody talks about how they were out for blood.
Seeing the freakin' roster ... Duncan, Ginobili, Parker, Leonard, James, Wade, Bosh, Allen... That wasn't finals, that was the gd Allstar game!
All future hall of famers !
I watch this now and I've never been a spurs fan but this video just filled my eyes with tears!
Follow my lead - LBJ
still gives me goose bumps.. one of the best if not the best team out there.
I return to watch these finals to remind myself what perfect basketball looks like
