Lovely guide for new players! I have struggled with Healxiety from the beginning! There is only a few hand on healing tips, regardless of your healer class:
    - check your tanks gear
    - if you feel insecure about it, because it is your first time as healer in a dungeon, communicate this. I have never met a tank that went "balls to the walls" if they have an inexperienced healer in the party
    - make sure to pop regen after your tank has pulled. If you pop on a regen before your tank has aggro on the mobs, they will aggro to you. You dead = party dead
    - it is ok to concentrate on healing and then do dps if youre new. Increase dps-ing the more comfortable you feel. Never not dps though. To quote Jocat: Everybody is a DPS
    - if you die, and get a res, heal yourself first! It can be overwhelming if youre pressured already, but if youre topped up (in content with two healers, your co-healer is normally busy keeping everybody up, so help out :D)
    - If all goes to shit, LB3 is your best friend
    you got this, healer!

    Just gonna chime in:
    Heal Action Boost: The receivers.
    Heal Magic Potency: The caster.
Asylum boosts healing of any spell or ability received for whoever is in it.
Temperance only boosts your spells (GCDs) of yourself, the WHM.
Kinda funny considering I learned everything about healing from you.
Great vids and thanks as always! Can’t wait to see the rest!

Lot of good tips here. This is the only class I actually enjoy playing and this is my first experience as a healer. I dislike the DPS in this game and it just doesn't feel like I'm doing any damage but as a White Mage I feel like I am actually doing something but it does get stressful at times.

I am a White Mage main. While Afflatus Solace and Rapture are not OGCDs, they are instant cast, and "free" other than the needed resources (lilies). When the tank is low, I like pairing a Lily with tetragrammaton to quickly refil their life.
Another recent change is that we can now have 2 charges of Divine benison, this pairs very nicely with Aquaveil for tank busters. I've always enjoyed throwing a Divine Beni on a tank before they do trash pulls, as they don't draw any uneeded aggro and Aquaveil is the same, though its window is shorter.
Liturgy and Asylum have the same radius, though Liturgy's is twice the cooldown. I would say that Liturgy would be something good to use if you've already blown Asylum, or in the more situational circumstances where you know you'll be hit multiple times. (I can think of a few bosses this would have been extremely helpful earlier on), or like Earthly star... that delayed heal. Asylum is more consistent healing but does require that black mage in the corner to cooperate *RESCUE!* I mean... um... XD
Presence of Mind has become a DPS aid for me more than an "oshit" heal time - as opposed to Astro's Light Speed. Times where I know there's no incoming damage, I absolutely love popping this and becoming a turret.
Assize is almost always on cooldown for me during times where I know its healing won't be needed, and I try to hit it just after raid wide damage goes off, especially when I have to move for mechanics.
I think Thin Air could be improved, either by allowing three charges or halving the time needed to cast the spell - if not acting like a Swiftcast. Though even before the changes, as long as I hit Lucid dreaming around 50% remaining, I never had any issues with mana short of being a rez bot or having newly rezzed myself. (Thin air + Presence + Lucid + Assize is a frightening way to go from 0-60 pre-EW)
I think I would like to see a mana recovery added to Divine Beni or Aquaveil since those are going to be more bread and butter for me going forward (maybe 5%?). Crazy thought: Maybe make Thin Air a straight up 30-50% Mana recovery with a steep cooldown (180 seconds) with no charges? It is a little strange seeing them go from being hands down the most mana efficient job to being the least mana efficient (in terms of recovery) over the course of one expansion. Ah well, they can always tweak later. (as they already are)

I didnt know that! white mage is strong!

    • @Itama22
      @Itama22 2 роки тому +3

Thin Air is super good right now. WHM has literally 0 MP Costs on it's healing spells.
If you utilize Thin Air well, like prioritizing to use it on your Healing Spells with 1000+ MP Costs while keeping Lucid Dreaming on CD all the time (not only when you are low on MP already), you are not able to run out of MP, even at low Piety values.
If you don't need your Cure II or Medica II, just use Thin Air for a Glare, it saves you the MP Cost.
It's definately better to use with the WHM toolkit now as with the old Thin Air, which had to synergy with anything other then presence of mind.
Now it's effectively a 5%-25% MP recovery every 60 seconds, depending on the Spell you use it for.
WHM is in my opinion still the most mana efficient healer, if you use your toolkit well.
In current savage fights I'm constantly between 70%-100% MP, even in P3S, while other healers seem to struggle with their MP, especially in that fight. For context, my Piety Value is 592 and I would even go lower, if I wouldn't lose some Critical Hit while doing so ^^
Actually the only thing I would give WHM to improve the feeling of the Job is a second stack of Assize, so you can actually hold one stack for Healing purposes instead of having it on CD, even if you don't need the healing.

SCH main, never really liked WHM in the past but recently levelled it from 80-90 and really enjoyed it. It is a more straightforward at first, but then you click with the little tricks and nuances of it. I didn't have healxiety but I did have shieldxiety for a little while. But with angel wings, and various mitigation buffs, I can still feel like I'm using some shields. And presence of mind with some burst dps feels cooler than my scholar dps.

WHM is my main and only level 90 at the moment (others close)... I have all 4 healers leveled to some degree and I do find the WHM (contrary to what some say) the healer with the most utility by far... Some may not like the GCD heals of the class, but realistically, this is a healing class first and a damaging class second... I do find the Holy weaving between other healing spells works good. I also (personally) save my free/speed type modifiers for healing spells and not damaging spells, so they're there in a pinch when I need them... Thanks for the guide =)

Mostly it is due to tanks pull way to big crowd and forget to pop Cd's. I do have sime insta heals as WHM but you know better than me that it is limmited in big damage situations. Boss fights are mostly uneventfull as I like to review mechanics for new grind dungeon on YT, but trash mobs is place where ppl should pay more attention as damage can come in fast and in big numbers. I also noticed that some DPS like to run infront of tank, so that is fun....spending res. Thankfully by now I can see what is going to happen usualy so I can at least pop renew on F4 before s.it hits the fan lol. my experience with WHM so far tells me that in most situations, renew and medica II can solve most situations with occasional Heal III when we get big hit.

The FFXIV Healing and the community's expectations of FFXIV Healers crack me up.
FFXIV Healing is quite literally the equivalent of calling an Uber/Lift who is a negligent aggressive driver. One who is late to pick you up, then proceeds to drive 100 mph+ with the radio on max volume, who weaves in and out of traffic, cusses out other drivers and flicks them off, runs red lights, drinks while driving, puts on their make-up while driving, eats while driving, gets into a car wreck, and gets a driving citation; but still somehow just barely manages to get you to your destination on time and in one piece. All the while saying, "Yeah, but did you die?" Lol. Imagine if you were a patient in real life with a medical emergency and your care team spent 95% of their time doing other stuff other than actually caring/treating you and they waited until the very last second (1HP/Unconsciousness/Cardiac Arrest) to actually start treating you. They'd be fired, sued, and black-listed from ever performing those duties ever again for reckless negligence. However, that's essentially FFXIV Healing in a nutshell. Instead of telling the damage-dealers to get good, learn the fight mechanics, learn their rotations and make optimizations, equip better gear, and make use of buffs and items that would increase their damage output; the FFXIV community instead blames the healers for not dpsing more than healing. Even though healers factually deal the lowest total damage out of all Tanks, Melee DPS, Ranged Caster DPS, and Ranged Physical DPS. Don't get me wrong, I am 100% all-in for healers contributing to party/raid damage by making sure there is always a DoT spell up on enemies, always casting AoE damaging attacks for large mob pulls, and then hard casting/dpsing during downtime, enemy transitional phases, and when healing is not necessary. But if anyone in the party/raid was doing what they were supposed to be doing and they still died, then it's the healer's fault. If there was mitigatable damage that could have been shielded, a telegraphed raid-wide attack, or a DoT that could have been Ensuna'd or healed through, but you spent that time on dpsing instead; then that's the healer's fault. If you're a healer dpsing instead of healing when your other healer teammates are burning through their MP/Mana just trying to keep everyone barely alive, then that's your fault as a healer. If you're playing a healer archetype/class/job/role, then your primary focus/first concern should be on healing/supporting/buffing teammates. Period. Roughly broken down, your time spent should be 65% on Healing and 35% on Damage-dealing. If an ally's HP falls below >50%, heal them (there are many attacks that will one-shot a PC at half-health or less). If an ally's HP is above

Nah, I’m gonna heal the absolute minimum and pump damage. No reason to heal more than absolutely necessary, anything extra is wasted. The ideal pull is 100% time spent on damage and only healing via ogcds.

I agree in the last time I have seen Healers which deals more damage as focusing on healing and I dislike it too. Also the Tanks which pulling so much enemies in the lower dungeons and underdestimate the damage from a cloud of mobs and the Healer as maybe in the lower dungeons not so much of his healing skills. Then I also don't like people which assume you should use more cure 2 which costs so much mana I barely use it and most of the time I use cure only when it triggers cure 2 without manapoints. I mean it gives regen and I combine it more with cure 1.

@@elgatochurro oh no you are serious. Look I would love to deliberate why you are wrong. Which I don't usually say outright. Feel free to white ANY white mage guide to understand why you are very very incorrect. Cure should rarely be used, when you have other tools to heal better.

@@BunBossFFXIV I find Cure 2 really heavy on the mana and only the tanks hp bar really makes use of the full heal. Cure 1 is overly hated despite it being only 40% of the mana cost for a still strong amount of healing. I use Cure 1 specifically on dps and healers as, again, they dont need need Cure 2.
