Freecure is definitely a beginner's trap, they really should have removed that trait in 6.0, or at the very least shift it to Cure II -> Cure III instead of Cure I -> Cure II.
Its a very cute guide. What I am missing are more advices how to actual play this job. To know all skills and ability is one thing, but to use it properly another.
So much for this guide! I got back into the game after seven and a half years and I couldn't remember any of my spells! This ought to me back up to speed in no time!
White Mage/Conjurer, alongside Marauder/Warrior, is one of the classes I recommend to people entirely new to MMOs. It's straightforward skills and slow pace make it perfect to learn both the game mechanics as well as general healing skills (which can help a lot if you want to play Astrologian once you get to Ishgard). However it can be underwhelming and boring if you are interested in more active, in which case I would recommend checking out Bard/Archer or Pugilist/Monk which are highly active jobs that make you press a lot of buttons, but aren't overly complex either.
I've been playing the game for a while, have a red mage at 68 and various classes at 60, and I just picked up WHM yesterday... I am frequently overwhelmed lol. Though I feel like its these squishy ass DRKs pulling whole dungeons that do me in
@@TheDeridor for real. I wouldn't say it's straightforward either. You have to heal the team and do damage where you can as well. You have to keep your eye on so many things
Someone's definitely mentioned this, but im pretty sure that for liturgy, a DoT ticking on you counts as you getting hit. So for the raidwides on panda 7 that give a nasty bleed? Shove everyone at the lilybell. Please correct me if im wrong!
So…what would be good placements? Should I place single target attacks and heals on one hot bar and ones that are AOE to another? It’s a lot of information for me personally.
As someone who had only max lvl DPS jobs and started his first healer job as WHM, I learned real quick that people will not shy away from telling you how to play your job as healer lol. The advise is all appreciated though, as long as it helps me to optimize the healing. Someone new like me isn't gonna know what's considered over-healing at first.
Honestly I’ve very rarely been criticized as a WHM main, and a fairly okayish one (I’ve taken long hiatus from playing :,( ). Worst was when I was getting mobbed on a Heavensword instance and died a handful of times. I wish I could forget that bad time lol. I feel that healing and nothing else is the bulletproof standard.
@@JRyan-lu5im Relatable, went through the multiple failed pulls/wipes myself in the same expansion lol. While it's true that healing and nothing else is the bulletproof standard, there's apparently an extreme end to that too...depending on who's in your party. When I got Medica 2, I was always spamming that whenever the existing Regen was about to expire in order to maintain it at all times for the entire party. One tank then told me it was not necessary and a waste since the tank is gonna be the one taking most of the damage during pulls, so I stopped and went back to single target Regen.
@@joshuyaraidon I think it's more a judgement call. My priority list usually runs 1)healer safety: whatever it takes for you not to die, because a healer dying is usually a quick wipe ending. Your safety isn't usually much of a concern unless you have bosses that may nuke you quickly, and then casting shields and regen on yourself is a priority. 2) Tank health, doesn't need explaining. 3) DPS's I'll top off and paste regen heals assuming 1 and 2 are good. 4) Healer DPS - if you have 1,2,3 comfortably in pocket, healer AOE's can contribute a little. More often than not though, i feel like it doesn't add more value than it creates risk for the tank getting mobbed/team wipe - and then you look like a goober. All that said, i think personal skill and healing style is the biggest factor - just make sure your peeps dont die and nothing less. You don't need to play like some high-speed WHM who power runs dungeons/extreme difficulty duties with. Slow is faster sometimes lol.
@@JRyan-lu5im That order of priority makes a lot of sense. I definitely need to do better in keeping myself alive lol. I keep prioritizing the tank over myself and take damage from AOE markers even though the tank could have managed without heals at that moment.
Hi there, love your guides. It makes learning rotations and UI builds super easy. Could you do RDM next please? Red mage comes highly recommended to me and I'm having a hard time figuring out the rotation and how best to build my UI. Thanks :)
i just started this game so i guess i'm a sprout i don't have the lilies and some of these spells and i've been trying to find out how to get them i go to the conjurer's guild there's no quests i look on wiki and everything and i can't find a way to unlock these things and i'm level 60 right now. My last news spell was the instant cast full hp one
Whm was my 1st class but immediately dropped it for sge but then had some bad healer experience and started maining rpr but Im thinking if trying it again
You literally press the same one button 90% of the times on all healers while making sure to refresh your dot and adapting to the situation 😂 you only need to press a lot as a healer if your party is eating dirt constantly
Love these videos. Just one piece of feedback, you say "Ability" a lot, which makes sense when talking about the Job actions. However, since FFXIV actually has a differente between Weaponskills, Spells and Abilities, maybe say Spell or Ability when it actually is a spell or ability. Afflatus Solace for instance is a Spell and costs a GCD. Whereas Abilities are (as far as i know) always off the GCD. But maybe that's going to in depth for a shorter video. Anyway, keep it up! :D
Please don't use Cure 1. It's just bad... As a tank, if I see Cure 1, I know the run is gonna take forever since I will have to slow down significantly for a Cure 1 spammer to keep up with the incoming damage as they're barely even healing with Cure 1....
Freecure is definitely a beginner's trap, they really should have removed that trait in 6.0, or at the very least shift it to Cure II -> Cure III instead of Cure I -> Cure II.
I agree with this as a whm main
It's better than spamming cure
either that or have it tie into your dps. Maybe Stone/holy casts or dia ticks can give freecure
@@donkiwi4888 nah, it's fine as it is
Cure 1 should upgrade to cure 2 like how stone and aero upgrade with levels.
I'm glad you keep these guides short and to the point. You really help out idiots like me.

love the editing on the ability images, got that fighter menu style

What has less buttons end game a paladin or white mage :P sounds stupid I know but looking for an really laid back but effective class to play
PLD has like the second most amount of buttons of any Job, only beaten out by Fisher.
