I met Rick Rude in 1990 with my family, when I was 9. He was the nicest person, jokingly flirting with my mother and was really kind to my autistic younger brother. It was a quick encounter but one of the best moments in my childhood.

This was so long ago but I remember meeting Rick twice and his family once. First time was him coming into our family landscape nursery in the early 1990’s, Rick and my father just hit it off (they where close in age and both large, strong with charisma). Second meeting was when our family was invited to his sons 3rd birthday party, Rick dressed up as big bird and got stuck in the costume. It’s definitely a memory I will never forget and all the big guys where ragging on him but he was absolutely the best father there by far! It’s sad his son probably doesn’t remember because he was so young but Rick was so excited about that costume and making his sons birthday special.

It was speculated by family that he was demanding a lot of his body, going back into the same workout regiment and steroid cycle that he had during his prime when he held the intercontinental championship. This is an eerie piece of trivia, but Rick Rude and Curt Hennig are tied together in more ways than their wrestling careers. Both grew up in Minnesota, both were physically gifted and excelled in sports, although both did not have the same gimmick, the overall theme was the same (a better-than-thou type who can back it up in the ring). On the downside, though, both Rude and Hennig suffered back injuries that cut their careers short, and both lost their lives to an overdose.

The man was pure gold I remember watching rock n wrestling in the 80s and there was no better heel God I miss him and the women adored him. He pioneered the sculpted bodybuilder look before that most guys just looked like powerlifters. Rick was chiselled. RIP big fella

It was nice seeing him on the wwf in the 80s and 90s. I liked his wrestling very much. He was good on the microphone, also.

He was the embodiement of what a heel wrestler should look and act like. That is his legacy.

Guy had it all, charisma, cocky, arrogant, smug, great on the mic, cae across as a legitimate badass, but could also go in the ring, 30-40 minute classics with Steamboat, Flair, Sting
    .

This guy had the best physique in the business at this point. Even better than Warrior imo. Loved RR,! Looking back it was my first experience of why attraction between men and women were. Seeing all those girls in the audience practically drooling over the man haha.

This man could slap the soul out of your body with one slap, his open palm slaps were said to be as hard as full blown punches, imagine that clapping you across the ear, your hearing will be permanently damaged, hard as nails tough guy.

I always laughed at Rick mocking some "overweight" dude and then the camera pans over to some random guy in the audience that fit Rick's description... Lol 😄

Rick Rude was one of my favorite wrestlers back in the 80’s. Entertaining in the ring and great on the mic. I remember when he died…. Very sad…. Definitely worthy of the hall of fame.

One of the best Heels ever . He tapped into a part of himself to create the character which is the key to it going over . I saw him when he toured with Ultimate Warrior and Big Boss Man in San Diego, I want to say 1987 maybe? He had the whole room eating out of his hand . The wiping sweat off himself and flicking it on the audience like it was a gift to them was brilliant . I liken it to watching Daniel Day Lewis in a movie . With most actors , you just see them playing the role . But with Daniel you just see the character .
