We all know why he didn't get the match, Vince didn't want one of his Golden boys that he's spent his entire career building up to lose to an "outsider" like Sting who was the poster boy of a rival company. All that does is sends the message that WCW still has hope in this saga and puts over a WCW star over a WWE legend. Imagine what that would do to merchandise sales? Takers likeness and being at the end of his road, they wanted him to go out on a high (financially and reputation wise). Taker has been loyal to the company for years thus Vince wasn't worried he'd jump ship to any new promotion that may start up, whereas he was unsure with Sting. Sting also was collecting injuries which meant he couldn't use him and put him in the WWE fold of things, instead it just felt like the last WCW warrior taking on the giant that is the WWE. I am sure after a few works, Vince would have made Sting a WWE star, but in order to do that he had to break him down and all the WCW glitter with it and then rebuild/rebrand him. Vince doesn't make the matches FANS want to see, he protects his assets/wrestlers from depreciating in value which will cost him money.
Fun fact: WWE actually reached out to Sting to join the company and defeat The Undertaker and end the streak at WrestleMania 27 in Atlanta, GA. Sting declined and instead had his infamous “match” with an intoxicated Jeff Hardy.

Sting's career has always been an enigma to me. Started out his career wrestling with The Ultimate Warrior and even after Warrior's passed Sting is 63 and still going at it week in and week out on AEW at such a high level. It's like he's barely aged, has worked for every major promotion at some point, and has played so many unique versions of himself, nothing short of legendary. Just wish he won at WrestleMania "WOOO!"
I think 1998 would of been perfect for him to jump to WWF. Before all that Wolfpac BS. He could of helped stone cold in his feud with the ministry of darkness.
@@cjvaye99 Not really. His contract expired only after the Wolfpac run and he had a bard time private so Sting would gone off between October 1998 and March 1999 anyway.
When Sting was signed it should have been already written. They only match that should have been already planned. It was Sting showing up at a PPV during a Taker match and causing Taker to loose. The promos after that would have been classic. They blew that real fast.
@@markcrawford9220 Honestly, this is probably one of those dream matches thats best left to the imagination. By the time it was even possible both Undertaker and Sting needed someone to carry them to a decent match. They sure as hell weren't going to carry eachother. He was the reason I started watching wrestling. I would see a few shows year. It always ran shorter then Monday night football. Tuesday mornings were rough 🥴 I lived in Minneapolis and the Vikings had just got Randy Moss and the Timber wolves were all the hype with Kevin Garnet. The wild hockey team was new. Sports was great back then. I was popular late night radio DJ at kmoj and working as a full time firefighter 🧑🏿🚒 The 90’s was the shyt! Thanks for the memories!

I'll never forgive WWE and Triple H for how they handled sting when he finally joined. For never giving us sting versus The undertaker. We didn't want to see HHH with him. It was a rivalry no one wanted. Bunch of petty nonsense making it a point to bury as many WCW guys as they could. The Monday night wars were long over and they literally had one job with sting. But Triple H never can resist being the biggest egomaniac around. He absolutely should have lost that WrestleMania match to Sting. And you didn't need the stupid NWO reunion angle either. HHH didn't need any more wins. It's pretty well known that he has been the booker for any match he's been involved in in about the past 10 years or so
if they did sting vs undertaker I don't think fans would of been upset if sting lost and it would of really made up for the dumb decision to end takers streak in the first place. instead we got undertaker and Bray wyatt...who cares? also I agree Triple H was on the bottom of dream matches we wanted to see sting in when he finally got to wwe. Undertaker, The Rock, Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold, even John Cena. all I would of rather seen wrestle sting at mania over Triple H. I will disagree about not needing dx and the nwo though. It was pretty obvious Trips and Sting weren't going to put out a wrestlemania quality match by themselves so they kind of needed those run ins to keep the match interesting and make it wrestlemania worthy. But Sting definitely should of beat triple h. if he wrestled taker no one would care if he lost. but triple h? fck off. just let him win his first fcking match then triple h can get his win back since his ego cleary needs it at a later PPV.
Yeah sting and taker would’ve rivaled hogan/Andre and sold out a 100k seat stadium by itself. Instead the ego and insecurity of McMahon and hhh got in the way and produced a dud.

Sting has been my favorite wrestler since the NWA days. The face paint, mic skills, and high energy was so cool to me as a kid. I remember his feuds with Nikita Koloff and Vader had me captivated every week. His Crow Era was great, but I still miss the Surfer Era.
Sting was one of the wrestlers who made me love TNA/IMPACT more than I should've and put on some of the best matches on that program. He's definitely on the Mt. Rushmore and I believe he could've had an iconic feud with the Undertaker in the early to mid 2000s if he wasn't signed to TNA and went to WWE.
Thank you for this! Sting is my all time favorite pro wrestler. He just had it all. I've always loved watching him wrestle and he has nailed every gimmick he ever had. A true class act who never buries anyone in interviews.
Sting. One of the best wrestlers ever. What I like the most about Sting is that he did it right. What I mean is he kept it together his entire career. I've never heard anything bad about this man inside or outside of the ring.
I started watching wrestling when I was like 6 years old and I used to stay weekends at my grandparents house. My grandfather was a big Ric Flair and the four horsemen fan and used to watch it all the time, that's what got me into it, and sting was always my favorite. I don't really watch it anymore now that I'm 44 years old but I remember when sting first started back in the day. That's when wrestling was the shit!

The Stinger known as the man called Sting the franchise of WCW and now he's the icon... Sting is the greatest wrestler that been around for a long time 30 plus years and still around The Surfer Sting The Crow Sting The Wolf Pac Sting The Joker Sting how many times this character always reinvent himself he's still around in 2021 that's the greatest wrestler/character I ever seen in professional wrestler....
Sting was, is, and will likely always be my favorite wrestler of all time! He deserves way more respect than WWE showed him especially in his WrestleMania match...
Me, until the day I die I'll always say that Sting is 1 of the GOAT legends in wrestling history. Me I'll always say that Sting is 1 of my most favourite wrestlers. I know that I'd love to meet him, but I know I never will.
The Stingers always been my favorite stay strong Warrior
Sting's career has always been an enigma to me. Started out his career wrestling with The Ultimate Warrior and even after Warrior's passed Sting is 63 and still going at it week in and week out on AEW at such a high level. It's like he's barely aged, has worked for every major promotion at some point, and has played so many unique versions of himself, nothing short of legendary. Just wish he won at WrestleMania "WOOO!"
Sting has been and always be my absolute hands down favorite wrestler. He the true GOAT if u ask me. Nobody comes close!
Sting was, still is and always will be an absolute legend. Great video btw
Sting would’ve had some amazing matches with the stars of the Attitude Era
I think 1998 would of been perfect for him to jump to WWF. Before all that Wolfpac BS. He could of helped stone cold in his feud with the ministry of darkness.
@@cjvaye99 Not really. His contract expired only after the Wolfpac run and he had a bard time private so Sting would gone off between October 1998 and March 1999 anyway.
An Icon is always an icon
Sting has always been a big influence to me, no matter what direction his character goes in, i can adapt and follow right along with him
Even the joker
Sting is one of my favorite wrestlers ever.
Sting was the reason I started watching wrestling. Only my 2nd favorite to 3:16
Fav wrestler of all time. I know there's better wrestlers, but nothing I watch as an adult trumps my childhood fav
"THE ICON" my favourite wrestler of all time!!!!
G.O.A.T
Great Video.. I'm still, after 30+ years, a Sting fan. And now he lives down the road from me.. a fan and a neighbor..... I'm never selling my house.
Is a visit possible?
Vince really missed a good match with Sting versus The Undertaker. It should have happened
Yep. Vince missed out on millions of dollars$$$$ not making that dream match
Honestly, by the time it was actually possible it was too late.
Also by this time I'm pretty sure Taker was already only wrestling 1 match a year.
@william cronshaw you may be right but it was something that should have been. Vince missed the lightning in the bottle.
I've always been a huge fan of Sting! This dude was a class act! He's an icon and survivor! His career outlasted a lot of the talents from that 80's and 90s! I couldn't wait to see him and that Scorpion move of his! What a wrestler and what a man!! I'm still a fan! He beat the odds! STING RULES!!!!😍😍😍😍
Yup. He wrestled again. It happened... & It was glorious!!
It's pretty well known that he has been the booker for any match he's been involved in in about the past 10 years or so
How did triple h personally, himself mishandle it, please exclude wwe part in your response, I'm just looking for triple h's role in it
Judging by your reply you didn't actually read my comment because I literally already answered that lol.
Yeah, he already won Stephanie's snatch. He will run that company one day. He didnt need to go over at Wrestlemania.
if they did sting vs undertaker I don't think fans would of been upset if sting lost and it would of really made up for the dumb decision to end takers streak in the first place. instead we got undertaker and Bray wyatt...who cares? also I agree Triple H was on the bottom of dream matches we wanted to see sting in when he finally got to wwe.
Sting the only wrestling could turn heel and people still cheer for him in history in professional wrestling
Add stone cold steve austin and the road warriors to that list
@@anthonybrown4402 Stone Cold he started as a heel stunning Steve Austin and WCW right before he became Stone Cold so I can't agree with that
@@steviecritiquenewby7874 Pretty sure Sting was a heel in his very early days. And of course you have to establish yourself before fans will cheer you.
Sting is WCW.... when I think WCW I think back when I was a kid and the names Sting, Flair and Luger and the top 3 names that come to mind! Great memories
Not giving fans Sting vs Undertaker was as tone deaf as getting Han, Luke, & Leah back and not letting them have a single scene together.
Agreed.
One of my ALL-TIME FAVORITES!
There is something about him, even before I watched him wrestle, I became a fan. His in ring personality and performance is truely ICONIC.
Sting = All Time Legend
Sting has been my favorite wrestler since the NWA days. The face paint, mic skills, and high energy was so cool to me as a kid. I remember his feuds with Nikita Koloff and Vader had me captivated every week. His Crow Era was great, but I still miss the Surfer Era.
I loved Sting growing up. Huge part of why I tuned in to Nitro
Me too
Me too
REALLY enjoyed, the legacy of WATCHING stings carrier starting back in 1984 thanks for the memories stingier. You still are the greatest. ☝️👍🇺🇸⚘
I think he started wrestling actually in the late part of 1985 but it's all good.
Worked for different companies and stood tall and he is still wrestling in AEW. The GOAT!
Always will love sting and he was a huge part of my childhood seeing him and Goldberg live in Charleston wv late 90s great memories
I always wandered why old school Surfer Sting and Ultimate Warrior had such similar face paint. Never knew they were a team.
Yes you so true
Whaaaaaat? You didn't know that?
@@andrewlorentz9076 you better call somebodyyyyyyyyyyy
You’re clearly a new wrestling fan.
@@westyraviz sorry not where not all 60 year old fans like you , you’re probably close to being senile old man
What's with the blurry screens
WCW & WWE wars were legendary and the 2 stings, loved it
Sting vs the Great Muta were some of my favorite matches. Good timrs
When Sting, went to the Crow gimmick it was all my friends and I talked about the next day. Man was that a trip. Team Stinger since day one.
Sting and HBK back in '97 would have been amazing.
Thank you for this! Sting is my all time favorite pro wrestler. He just had it all. I've always loved watching him wrestle and he has nailed every gimmick he ever had. A true class act who never buries anyone in interviews.
Finally THE STORY OF THE ICON STING THANKS ALOT WRESTLE WITH ANDY ,great work truly appreciateable and did amaizing documentary
When Sting was with the Wolfpack, they were huge. There were red & black shirts & signs everywhere
You're right. And the WCW ratings were better than WWF in August and September 1998 but the WWE network will never talk about it...
Yes! So true!
Loved when Sting became like The Crow
One of those wrestlers who deserve more respect ✊👌🔥
Sting is the best to ever do it, and probably always will be!
Hogan, Sting, Flair, Austin, undertaker. Legends
Hogan and Flair suck butt tbh
Sting was and is my favorite wrestler....i remember watching him when he first started...i was like 6 years old
Sting is definitely one of the G.O.A.T.S
Great was always my boys,Sting is one of the GOATS,and the most underrated pro wrestler to ever walk the square circle or the eight circle ring
nobody:
Tony Schiavone: ITS STTTTTTTTTTTTTTTIINNNNNNNG
STIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING
The greatest of all time, The Stinger!!
Sting. One of the best wrestlers ever. What I like the most about Sting is that he did it right. What I mean is he kept it together his entire career. I've never heard anything bad about this man inside or outside of the ring.
My Mount Rushmore of WCW (1988- 2001)
Ric Flair, Sting, Vader and Booker T.
I would replace booker t with Lex Luger but i agree
Where's goldberg?
I started watching wrestling when I was like 6 years old and I used to stay weekends at my grandparents house. My grandfather was a big Ric Flair and the four horsemen fan and used to watch it all the time, that's what got me into it, and sting was always my favorite. I don't really watch it anymore now that I'm 44 years old but I remember when sting first started back in the day. That's when wrestling was the shit!
Sting is, was & always be WCW! He never left! Never. The Icon is my favorite of all time.
Sting was always that guy I wish they brought to the WWF back in the day. WWF had most the good talent, and Sting was WCW powerhouse(among others)
Killing the business: Young bucks
I would watch it
Super kick super kick super kick. So stupid.
would be amazing video
Flip and kicks and that's about it
Dive!! Lol
Truly one of the greatest wrestlers of all-time I have watched almost his career in the wrestling business industry from WCW,WWE,TNA,,AEW also one of the most colorful characters in the business I have seen this man in so many great matches over his amazing and hall of fame career one of favorite moments of Stings WCW run was when he became the crow character I absolutely loved that his TNA was really great too he was such a great talker and a amazing performer in the ring truly one of the all-time greatest in this business even today at his age he is still doing a great job in AEW with storylines he always knows how too evolve his character which is why he has been around so long and had such a amazing career
STING knew that wwe wasn’t going to give him the spotlight he deserves, but he came to wwe due to fan popular demand. He didn’t let his fame go over his head, therefore he’s had an an amazing career path
Sting is the reason I started watching wrestling, he's the reason I had a buzz cut then grew mine long like him.
Perfect representation of stings career.
*STING LEGENDS OF LEGENDS*
I remember watching his matches back to the NWA days. Always was my favorite 😍😍
Sting would shatter the record for most tee shirts sold in a 24 hr period the night he debuted in AEW!
I always liked the Black Scorpion story line!
Even Jim her didn't like that one
Vince: "We give our fans what they want."
Us: We want Sting vs Undertaker!
Vince: "Nah pal"
Us: A$$HOLE! A$$HOLE! A$$HOLE….
Vince: S-SHUT UPP!!!
great video, missed those epic Sting Flair battles in the late 80s early 90s. I was a kid back then and was in awe of how great they were.
Goldberg was the new wave. Sting, Steiner brothers, 4 horse man, Rick flair where the original for me growing up.
