What a beautiful family... hard working. You a lucky guy Teal, blessed with two beautiful woman. My daughter and I love your channel. From Adrian in Cape Town South Africa 🇿🇦
Working in the port hull reminded me of the story of the gynecologist who renovated his kitchen through the letter slot in the front door! Luv ya work!!
I had a snappy answer about the holes in the boat. "It's just a little hole Linh", it'll only let in a little water, but Teal used the 6 inch hole cutter and I got that OMG feeling. Teal, I think that your doing all the holes just for the "Thickened Epoxy". LOL Have a good adventure and God Bless.
You've been busy repairing. painting SVBASIK. Always enjoy seeing you Lihn, Teal, & Emma! Teal, think maybe you can weigh that ball? I hope you 3 have a good week.
Tape Ball rolling skills class 101- while you wait. Porthole Perfection on Teal Time. Machine Shop alterations- Just a walk in the seeder sections of town. Compass the Conqueror cameo appearance. It's just a little Hole in our Boat- Linh. Thickened Epoxy. The mixing measurements might be a little off after 3 shots just say'n. Great work crew of basix. Hope you're on the water now- your hard work has rewards. Safe adventures ahead.
Always good to see such a great family working together..and sending the girls to the machine shop probably helps the budget...who wouldn't want two stunning girls in their shop !!!
HaHaHaHaHa! YES!!! Heard the Call of the Thickened Epoxy that's been quite a while since that episode, Nice that You are All doing well and enjoying Life Enormously! Surely you are Nice to know You are All doing Well! Be Always Bless and Safe! And have tons of fun!
Ahh.. Rocky Point (That's what we folks in AZ call Puerto Peñasco). I have great memories of camping on the beach (Playa Bonita?) in the early 90s. Great food, beautiful weather, warm water. You just have to remember to shuffle your feet in the water so you don't get hit by sting rays. Ladies would walk the beaches in the early morning selling fresh tortillas and warm burritos... we bought everything we could and it was always delicious. Looking forward to you guys getting back on the water. Cheers!
Rocky Point has gotten is a metropolis compared to what it was in the '90's! My last time there was in early 2000's when we used to camp at Playa Elegante. I also have fond memories of the ladies selling burritos and tamales from 5 gallon buckets on the beach. So delicious!
It’s so great to see you guys are still doing well and producing great vids. Just a thing I noticed in your last vid is a lot of screw type hose clamps now these things are wonderful but can be very unreliable and that’s why they are not allowed in aviation and you won’t see them in the motor industry anymore. Now I don’t fully know a solution but spring clamps have become very common. I know your enquiring great mind might come up with answers along the line.bless you all.
Emma's awesome narration punched up script, "about to drop", nice. Ha ha. Happy you all had a thickened epoxy joke. Never get's old. Salute! Linh don't make fun of a man's (tape) balls. It's a thing not to be understood. Just accept it. I don't get the bow spread eyebolts or pad eyes for the bowsprit. Please get into details next time on how it works on a Catamaran. Love learning new stuff. (PS Compass Cameo was great. More Compass Cam Pls.)
Congratulations for all this work done...like professionals...!! what is surprising for a boat of this quality is that the porthole surrounds have not been blocked with resin...!! there are only the 2 peuax and the certon leaves the thickness...!! in principle we stiffen the whole like an edge of a partition, so that it is more solid...!! good luck for the rest to come. Vincent of France
Up to about the 7 min mark i'm thing "why the hell is he drilling out such huge holes for pad eyes." Then you explained the compression issues and it all made sense. Good thinking and good job mate
I think you should buddy boat with Delos and cross the Pacific with them. Add in Catalpa who are in San Diego.and my favorite channel will be a Flotilla. This will be Delos 2nd crossing and having an experienced cruiser should help.
Good idea especially as Delos are in front of them on the hard standing. Hehe. Good luck guys and don't forget the pull ply and vacuum bagging. Helps keep the weight down on all the epoxy going in.
I'm no shipwright nor do I have fiberglass experience, but I like the added reinforcement you are doing for the pad eyes in the hull. That PVC sheet is pretty soft stuff, I might have opted for coosa board, but with all the resin and glass going over it you should be solid.
Thanks! We would probably use something stronger, but it has worked so for in other applications and sometimes you gotta use what you have on hand. Cheers!

How did I get as old as I am, applied miles of masking tape, without learning your trick of putting the roll on your wrist so you have two hands to place the tape accurately? That's brilliant!
I'm dumbfounded to discover to find I cannot order A Thickened Epoxy shot glass in your merch store. Or, am I just so dumb I can't find it?🤪 Please to esplain. Ricki Ricardo.
We did sell them, but after we left the states we don't have a good way to ship them out. Still trying g to sort out our store so we can have it available to you.
Our core material is polypropylene honeycomb with individual cells. Moisture can't wick past the exposed cell so I will generally not fill the edges. There are exceptions. I do fill the core with thickened epoxy when needed for compression applications or any penetration near or below the waterline. We have pulled hardware off that was close to 30 years old. The seal had failed so moisture was sitting in the cell pocket with zero signs of any decay or migration...we absolutely love NidaCore / CaniCore / CarbonCore!
Hey guys I know you cant play copyrighted music but you know what would be the best song to play in the background for this video? Dean Martin's song " Ain't That A Kick In The Head ". There is some mention in the song about " A Hole in the Boat ".
Not sure i would have use PVC rather than just fiberglass and epoxy. Dissimilar materials can create issues when under stress and create new points of failure.
I'm a little confused as to why you cut away all the backing. I've never worked on a boat so really don't have any knowledge as to why you would weaken the structure like this. My logical head is saying that should it fail then the failure is isolated to one area but if the epoxy is good then it will tear the hull anyway. Help me out here please.
Basik has a polypropylene honeycomb core. This keeps the hull light and strong. When thru-bolting and applying force this material will compress slightly. That is why we add a ridged core when installing hardware. Polypropylene has amazing decay resistant properties so we use materials with similar characteristics like foam filled PVC in this particular application.
Not sure about the point of the large hole.think I might have been inclined to stick with a small hole and reinforce the surroundings with the same material laid over.

Find the magnets. Paint the sides that attract each other then pla ce one on each side and you will know exactly where to drill

The tape ball😂😂😂
Yellowtail seasons coming! Your going to love eating it!

Hey ! the star of the show made a brief appearence today in his cute red coat .
I love the thumbnail. Looks like your boat is swiss cheese. 🤣
