I never comment on videos, but this is really the best most scientific review I've ever seen, i actually feel inspired to learn coding and science stuff to do cool things, you make grad school seem cool, thanks dude
I've bought the Honor Band 6 based on this video. I'm happy to corroborate with how accurate the heart rate is. I've used it along with my old Polar (F6 Watch + T3 chest strap) checking numerous times and the readings were almost always the same or within an insignificant 2 BPM margin of error. The few times that read 3 or 4 (rare) beats apart, it took no longer than 2 seconds for the reading to go back to the 2 BPM margin. So if you need a chest strap replacement, I fully recommend this product. However, be advised that the distance counter while walking on a treadmill is completley useless (stationary wrist). At the end of the workout you can manually correct the distance walked, however, the band limit this adjustment to a ridiculously tiny window, not even close to make up for the huge difference. You need to input the entire workout data manually on the app but there's no option to include the average heart rate, rendering the whole thing mostly useless. One more thing: if the device (phone/tablet) you're using to pair the band is on a language other than English or Chinese, the band will be stuck with the default chinese language. I had to switch my Android to English, pair it so that the band could automatically change it to English, and than unpair the band from the phone before returning the Android to my native language, otherwise the band would go back to chinese.
@@skysky4198 I have no way to test it. But since it also measure calories from "stactic" exercises I believe the equation revolves around the personal data (age sex, weight, etc) in relation to the duration and intensity (heart rate) of the exercise. As the band gets right all these measurements, I believe the calories burned should be correct.
I love these tests! It's important that you do these so you can we can tell how accurate the data we are getting from these bands are. I would love to see a ranking of which devices are the best for each metric of tracking and overall. It'd also be cool to know what the prices of equipment are that you use for your reference data and what equipment you use personally too.
Thank you for your excellent review. I have been using it for 3 months. Got an oppotunity to test against hospital equipment and found out that SPo2 and HR reading were accurate but with lag. Sleep and wake are also accurate. Low price and good battery life. One more thing to consider, every watch same model may differ.
Thank you for the work you put into these videos, I know it must be really tedious and time consuming. You're one of the few youtubers who actually work their ass off to make their buck uploading such quality content. Keep churning out these videos and we will support you through this journey. Subscribed and watched all vids end to end. :)
For others reading this comment: He did! Short version: it actually seems somewhat worse than the band 5 when it comes to accuracy, and O2 sensor is possibly ok/decent data but he didn't test it thoroughly. I hoped this wasn't true and read some other stuff, and it seems like his results line up with what I see from other sources, unfortunately. I went with band 5 as a result.
Honor Band 5 is one of the very few trackers with hi/low heart rate alerts. That and the low price make it worth a buy imo. Even with the wonky sleep tracking.
I'm in awe with your videos. Hats off! Only thing I'd welcome is outdoor running reviews! My Huawei Band 4 and my Mi Band 6 have almost a km difference for every 5K run! Quite frustrating! Keep it up! ❤️
The correct example of what tests mean. it's all about analyzing datas and doing comparisons and giving a reliability results. Today tests videos are only based on firsts impressions.
You're the right guy I found in here explaining stuff in details about its actual efficiency. If others wouldn't know better looking at the right place, they'd get consume in the hype proliferated by other reviewers.
You are the best! Scientific tests here tells me more than all the written reviews that just quotes the features of the smartwatch but no way of knowing how accurate they are.
When is the video coming out for the mi band 6? This channel really stands out in the sea of smaller tech review channels. Very underrated. 100k subs here we go!!
Hi Rob, thanks for your vids and that section on the SPO2 measurements. Lots of devices are coming out with this feature and it's good to know how they actually perform. Cheers!
Thanks! I have measured it for most devices I tested, but was always reluctant to include it, since I was not completely happy with the test. However, for this video I thought I would try, and see if people would find it helpful, so thanks for the feedback!!
@@TheQuantifiedScientist It would be nice to have it, I was looking for a fitbit charge 4 video with SPO2, I think it would be very helpful with this pandemic, to know if we can trust in the device like the honor 6. nice job.

You could try Wim Hod Breathing to artificially lower your spo2 levels without changing the external environment. During the hold phase of the method I could get my pulse oximeter to display values as low as 74% for a brief period of time.
This kinds of makes me happy for not getting the HONOR band 6, though I have wanted it for a long time. Waiting to see if the Huawei band 6 is a better upgrade with its firmware. Thank you for doing that.
Thank you very much for your reviews - When it comes to fitness band/watch - the most important point is how accurate they are - can they be trusted - And you have made it possible for all of us to buy these things on the basis of that. All other things we all can review by ourself.
I love numbers based on scientific tests. But sometimes the numbers are crushed when you have certain criteria which doesn't match besides the functionality you are looking for. For me personal there can be very big flaws in a watch as a sleep tracker, even if they are the best trackers money can buy: - charging them every day, means you have to plan the charging which is not very pleasant though, if you use it at night. - charging them every day means the battery will even perform less and less over time very quickly. - not detecting naps is a big no go. - if the manufacturer forces you to spend at least another €500 on the least expensive phone they offer, it's the number one reason not to buy anything from that manufacturer. That said: I've used the Honor band 5 for over 3 years now. The battery is still very good (I don't even look when to charge it). After 3 years of experience I can say it registers going-to-sleep and waking-up times pretty good. Awake time also seems to be pretty accurate. Your reviews tell me that I can forget the deep, light and REM stages which I do. Charts seem to be are very valuable looking at my deep-sleep time which is always too low . Would love to see a TicWatch Pro 5 review.
