Great video sums up pretty much the whole event as what it is and as a day out, good way to socialise and get out for a good day, and ofc dust the gear off, more videos like this would be great

Thanks for the explanation of the shooting culture in the UK. I always wondered about the tweed, the tie etc. My clays apparel as well as my hunting apparel is very different here in the North East US. But then it's different in our Southern States too for waterfowl season. Happy game shooting, enjoy your season.
Just curious if you folks need a license to hunt game? Here in the US, mostly one needs a state issued hunting license (large (think deer, bear) game / small (think birds, squirrel) game) save for a private hunt club in certain states.

You don't need a license to hunt (as long as it's not a protected animal), hunting is done on private land in the UK. You do need a license for the gun, or someone who's got one along for the excursion.

To me wearing the right clothing for shooting is no different from wearing the right clothing for football or cycling. If you take the sport seriously there is an accepted “kit” that you need to wear. If you played football for a team you wouldn’t play in jeans and trainers. You can also buy tweed etc for very reasonable prices and don’t have to buy a top price label.

Not everyone can afford £50 for a shirt £150 for a game jacket. Yes i agree etiquette is part of game shooting but there needs to be a range for the more everyday job people at all budget prices.

I totally agree, but if you can't afford £150 for a jacket, you're unlikely to be able you afford even a £400 game day.

With the best will in the world this is a mistake or just poorly presented.Needed a little more thought.Does not come across well at all and some rhetoric here would have been better left unsaid.I appreciate some aspects of our sport are sensitive at best and this presentation has not helped.

Hi Shotaway, thanks for the feedback but honestly I cannot imagine what anyone would take exception to in this film. We need to be open and honest about what we do, we’ve nothing to hide.

Not saying there is anything to hide.Have watched most of TSC videos and this one just flagged up as not quite right.I appreciate the purpose because you are in the ''shooting business''.No offence intended just an honest appraisal.

No offence taken, just interested to understand what struck the wrong note with you.

Following some thought elect not to open public discussion on this.If TSC is happy with the production then we are unfortunately on different wavelengths and c'est la vie.End of the day does not matter a hoot what I think it is just a matter of opinion regarding some of the content which might have been better left out which is not the same as trying to hide something.

Respect that decision. Feel free to PM me - everyone's got their own views on how we should best promote our sport and I'd be happy to discuss with you - James M

Good lord what a load of posh twaddle. You hoped this would encourage people to move from clays to game shooting or encourage new people to shooting in general. This video shows everything that’s wrong with shooting in this country from a public perception viewpoint. Least the Americans manage to get that right.

It's about the image, nothing beats getting the gear out on the day, if it's a organised shoot or a family event it's not a trakies hoody day, the seasons are not all year and it's not a target plink, don't like it just go rough shooting

It's all in the eye of the beholder. If 'posh' voices put your back up there's little we can do about that. Many folks in the UK find the American way a bit yee-ha for their taste. Even within the UK it takes all sorts, and we have many different forms of shooting of which this is just one example. Ultimately what matters is sustainability and respect for the quarry. Shooters/hunters around the world need to respect each other's different ways.
