Awesome job Landon! Cool that you were able to get a living legend in the seat, shifting through that 4 speed! Mark Martin was a classy driver and competitor!!! I always loved his crazy looking grip on the wheel in the turns.
He was a great interview on Junior's show. Talked about building light race cars and experiences with Dale senior, Darrell Waltrip, and Junior Johnson and all the boys from back in the day. Well balanced man.
That motor sounded like it got happier the higher the RPMs. it's like a child before recess getting ready to go run wild! Awesome that Mark got to see and drive his car again.
Grew up watching this legend on the tv every weekend with my grandparents. When I was about 3 or 4, we drove about 2 1/2-3 hrs and stood in the rain just too meet Mark, shake his hand and have him sign my car replica. One of my best core memories as a kid. ❤
Couldn’t happen to a better person. I was a huge Mark Martin fan and he won a lot of the races I attended. I got his autograph at least 30 times or more over the years we would get pit passes. He always treated me with respect and never put me off like a lot of the other drivers. I love seeing this. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I ain’t gonna lie. This gave me chill bumps to see. Mark is such a great man and an awesome ambassador for the sport. So glad I saw this today. Brought back a lot of memories. Go Mark Martin! #6
I'm a truck driver who lives in arkansas.. in 2012 I drove for marks trucking company ( j Mar express) he was a humble sincere nice guy... our driver lounge was full of cars and his trophies and racing suits

This video brought back so many memories of the real old school NASCAR. Omg it brought tears to my eyes seeing mark drive again. Thank you mark and all the old drivers who made NASCAR what it was.
Gosh I wish I liked Mark Martin while he was racing ... first class human being. Being a Gordon fan ... there were a few years where those two increased the level and performance of NASCAR to places other drivers will never see. This video speaks to why I felt a ton of relief when Mark Martin ran for Hendrick. He is probably one of ... if not the ... most underrated driver of all time. Most importantly ... seems like a great guy. I hope I get to meet him someday.
It would have been awesome to see him win a championship! I was an Earnhardt fan but I liked the ford cars and the #6 and #2 (when Rusty Wallace drove it) I liked!
Always loved Mark Martin. Met him a couple of times when his dad took him short track racing around the midwest during summer recess from high school. He was a regular at Capitol Super Speedway near Madison, WI, where my dad also raced. We were both the same age and got along well. A lot of fun to hang with him!
As a sidenote to my previous post, Mark was all business when it came to his racing, he was very hands-on in all aspects of his car. A real racers racer. 👏
I loved this guy as a racer. Total commitment to his craft and such a stand up guy. How great would it have been if after that slow parade lap if Mark dropped the hammer on that thing for a lap?
You know he wanted to take it for another lap. He felt right at home in that seat. Big fan of Mark all through the years back when I would never miss a NASCAR race on TV or if close enough, in person.
They say nascar died with Earnhardt but the final nail in the coffin was when guys like mark retired. I grew up watching them and it’s just not the same without them.
Loved him. When I was a kid I always said his daughter has my same name. I had a mark martin birthday cake. There's pics of me at like 8 sleeping at talldega wearing his shirt
So very cool, I watched the Vegas race a few weeks ago and seeing Mark do the pace laps in the very car he won the first Vegas race was awesome! My favorite driver of all time🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Like ridin' a bicycle... A SEVEN HUNDRED HORSEPOWER bicycle. ;-) Awesome video.... I can only imagine Mark's reminiscent thoughts during this. Thanks for sharing!
I think my favorite thing about Mark Martin is something that basically no one knows anymore. Back in the 80's he raced in series that stopped at my local short track. My family raced there for a very long time. And the stories my dad told me of how stuck up and arrogant he used to be back then. To the absolute class act that be became later in life. That first run at the Cup series made him look himself in the mirror and helped him become who we know today.
Legend! Interesting how he shifts to neutral instead of pushing the clutch in. That’s from back in the days of needing to save those sensitive triple disc clutches. Mark is one of my favorite drivers of all time.
Big shoutout to Landon Best, who found and bought and restored the car. That's who's talking to Mark before he starts it up.
Awesome job Landon! Cool that you were able to get a living legend in the seat, shifting through that 4 speed! Mark Martin was a classy driver and competitor!!! I always loved his crazy looking grip on the wheel in the turns.
I can't imagine how excited Landon had to be getting Mark and the car back together to turn laps. That would have to be one of the best days ever.
Awesome car iconic
He did an amazing job and his attention to detail was top notch. He should do more he could make a lot of money on these things.
You can tell he really cares about the history of the car. Amazing attention to detail. Well done!
I could listen to Mark talk all day. What a class act.
He was a great interview on Junior's show. Talked about building light race cars and experiences with Dale senior, Darrell Waltrip, and Junior Johnson and all the boys from back in the day. Well balanced man.
Mark Martin. #6 One of my very favorites. Still nothing but a "Class Act." Thanks for the Memories!!
Yep class act all the way hell of a driver as well
For years Mark was a killer on the road coarses....loved his driving style ...just a steady honest guy..no drama. Killed it in the Winn Dixie car...
When that Winn Dixie #60 was entered everyone else was pretty much racing for 2nd!
That motor sounded like it got happier the higher the RPMs. it's like a child before recess getting ready to go run wild! Awesome that Mark got to see and drive his car again.
Mark Martin was one of the best. He was a true gentleman and a helluva race car driver. I miss the days when these boys raced.
My Hero, My Fave NASCAR Driver ever!!!! A true Champion!!!! #6

Driving the car at Las Vegas then all of a sudden Mark's at the Roval at Charlotte! 😉. What a great video!

Mark is the best!! He makes us all human ❤️
Nostalgia from 1998 still lives on!
Thank you to everyone involved in this. A little piece of my childhood restored. Incredible.
Always liked this guy, great video. I did want to see him get on it though.
Id love to buy Mark a couple of beers and listen to his stories. He was a part of NASCAR at the peak of the sport. Great dude.
No, you wouldn’t want to do that. Mark was an alcoholic and hasn’t drank for many years.
And we wonder why NASCAR struggles today, the young guys will never fill the shoes of drivers like Mark Martin. A true class act
wrong sports stars always come and go
Nicky, look at the number of viewers, speaks for itself.

I feel so proud of nascar history, and of mark. Congrats LVMS on this opportunity
I did not see anyone from Ford or RFK there to help him celebrate?
Mark....man those were the days!
This video brought back so many memories of the real old school NASCAR. Omg it brought tears to my eyes seeing mark drive again. Thank you mark and all the old drivers who made NASCAR what it was.
I think Mark was looking for a back way out of the track. Don't think he wanted that ride to end. Awesome job to the guy who restored it! 👏
Dude, he was trying to find a way out for sure!! Obviously kidding. This was awesome to see!
Mark Martin is a true racer with class.

Loved Earnhardt but man I respected Mark Martin. Class act.
All the pit crews out saluting Mark speaks volumes to his career and the amount of respect he has in the sport.
Absolute Legend! And probably one of the best personalities of any driver in Nascar.
The good days....Mark was one of the best
I can listen to that engine all day, even at below redline. Thank you!
back when NASCAR was great,, Mark Martin always a class act
IDK who the lady was singing the national anthem at the beginning of this but she killed it.
Thanks for a stroll down memory lane

A freaking legend this was awesome
Mark is such a class act.
Did you hear him compliment the present owner and thank him for his hard effort to make this possible.
So very cool, I watched the Vegas race a few weeks ago and seeing Mark do the pace laps in the very car he won the first Vegas race was awesome! My favorite driver of all time🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Ohhh Man! When he shifted into third...Did anyone else want to see him rip it?
Love Mark
One class act in racing.
Love me some Mark Martin! Brings back awesome memories.
This dude even likes Instagram comments and posts when he's mentioned. Mark Martin is wholesome.
Like ridin' a bicycle... A SEVEN HUNDRED HORSEPOWER bicycle. ;-) Awesome video.... I can only imagine Mark's reminiscent thoughts during this. Thanks for sharing!
Almost greenhorned it! This video is great!
One of the greatest Mr Consistency
God Bless Mark Martin.

I think his exact words were "He was a little shit."
I still have my 84 Thunderbird with 13,512 miles on it. A Folgers Tribute
Amazing! Thanks for finding and rebuilding the car and for sharing this video!
Huge respect to Mark.
Now this is special. :)
Legend! Interesting how he shifts to neutral instead of pushing the clutch in. That’s from back in the days of needing to save those sensitive triple disc clutches. Mark is one of my favorite drivers of all time.
The clutch is probably super heavy on this as well. Just easier to pop neutral if you’ve got a bit of time to coast.
@@F-Man probably!!
Thats how my dad taught me how to drive a manual and save the clutch, slide it into neutral & let it coast
@@BrownBomber92181 my dad too! They don’t make dads like ours anymore buddy!
@@oleboy4332 thats a fact! I miss him everyday
Had a smile and a tear! Thanks Mark!!!
I am a huge Mark Martin fan and let me say That was awesome to watch !
I was a Dale Senior fan. Mark Martin was my second choice. Nice to see him
He was my favorite driver. Still have a brand new unopened Revell model kit of his car. Good to see him again.
that is awesome!!!! always respected Mark. Wish tracks would do this more often with old cars...Like Jeff pacing the field in his 90s Dupont Chevy .
Never was a Mark Martin fan but I am a BIG FAN of that era of NASCAR always love seeing these old timer's on the track again. 🏁🏆🍺
That was cool. Always liked him. @ the end the car sounded mad it couldn’t go play… lol
Very cool. We miss you Mark! Well played.
Truck driver to nascar legend what a cool guy always liked Mark. Heck of a racer
Awesome video! So, if 23XI needs a good relief driver for the 45 for Homestead, maybe they could ask Mark Martin. Bet he can still get it done.
Mark Martin is a legend. MVP & my favorite
That's way cool thanks for letting us take the ride with him
My all-time favorite driver.
"I'm dropping the hammer!"
"Oh no you're not!"
Mark was a great driver!
Father time still lives on.
Great idea for the camera, loved following him along in that
He climbs in at 6:55. You can skip right there.
What is he messing with on the "door" around 14:58? Right as he throttles down.
AH yeah Boys!!!!! Now that is a good sight to see!
Stapleton42 sent me
I wish Mark would race in the SRX series for a couple seasons.
The windixie car was the NUMBER 1 MARK MARTIN CAR
Hell yeah man what a rush!!!!!
I see Mr. Martin is still in shape
That's too cool, but I always liked the Folgers Thunderbird he drove the best.
Unbelievable! Love the small talks with car owner before cranking it up.
I laughed when that dude was telling Mark how to start the engine. Buddy thats Mark Martin he knows how to start a race car.
Mark is and always be the man. Go 6 Go
Go watch Stapleton42 he has a great behind the scenes & interview
Thank you Chris!
I Love how he gets what he needs out of first gear... then kinda just floats around in neutral as he need it!👍
@7:15 is when he gets in. Up until that point it's just a view from inside. That's almost half the video....
That's pretty cool.
love Mr. Martin
Is the guy talking to Mark about the car the same guy from tiktok/Instagram who re did that car and shows his progress on there?
Yes that’s me.
omg that sounds so good.
Hit the pace car!
Hit the pace car!?
That shift at around 14:30. 🥲
That was cool
Listen to that thing whine! Wound tighter than Dixies hatband! ❤
Sweet helmet! His ears are fully protected
You talk about a icon

Mark Martin 1st time being back behind the wheel of his ICONIC restored #6 car.
