    Another channel called this service "labor intensive". I'd say it is straightforward, just remove a few bolts, a few hoses. I'd say spark plugs on Gm's 3800 engine are more difficult, because you have to remove the front engine mounts and bring the engine forward to access the rear spark plugs. Heck, even Ford Triton V8 spark plugs are more labor intensive. That's because the spark plugs on those engines are notorious for "fusing" to the block due to carbon build up. If you're in a hurry you'll easily snap the plug in 2 as you remove it. If this happens, you'll need a special kit to extract the other half that stayed in the engine.

      Someone had spliced into the signal supply from the other side of the engine to trick what the ecu saw and hide the defective part

    Excellent video. . . What about the Red wire?

    • @theeccentrick
      @theeccentrick  11 місяців тому +1

      If i recall the red wire was a signal being stolen from the other side of the engine bank 2 (B2) MAF sensor, this was presumably because the MAF on B1 was faulty and rather than replacing the unit, a butcher (not me) spliced into the B2 supply to trick the ECU into seeing the measured air mass from B2 and thus bypassing the faulty readings B1 would have been providing.

    At 4:52, right next to your finger is a hose that goes into a steel hard line into the intake manifold, attaching to intake mani right below the throttle body. This pipe is dangling loose on my '05 on the other side. Do you know where the other end goes? I cant seem to find a hole it plugs into

      Ive had a look at the video but cannot remember exactly.
      I’ve taken a while to respond incase another Bentley came in and i could take a look for you but i haven’t had another one for the kind of work that will allow for me to see unfortunately.
      If it goes to the mani on one bank, its likely a vac line or maybe fumes from the evap. (If it is actually going into the manifold that is).
      I can only suggest that If the hose you can see goes to the hard line pipes then one would assume the same for the other side (easier said i know).
      Follow what you can see from the hard-lines back to wherever it is possible to see working your way towards the end of each rubber hose, you may see a provision under the intake manifold that branches off (maybe a T-piece) or a straight barb joiner from a hose that could be resting under there waiting to push the unconnected end to.
      Sorry i cant be anymore help

      @@theeccentrick you were very accurate sir! Thank you for taking the time. It was a vacuum hose that starts at the intake manifold hard line and goes to the turbo. I could not see the attachment point at the turbo from above, until I squeezed my phone in there with the video on, played the footage back and saw. The guy who helped me identify this was none other than Johnny Hotspur on the forums, massive shout out to him! Routed the hose properly, and my rough idle went away, thank the lord!
      Up until yesterday she was driving smooth, but I braked hard at one point, and the Transmission lights were all lit, check engine came on. Scanned it and got P0420 Cat System, Bank 1: Efficiency Low and P0736 Transmission Reverse Incorrect Ratio, so here I am, ready to replace the spark plugs before going further.

    Great video and really not too bad but it's the other several 'engine out' jobs that scare me enough not to buy one although would love to scratch that itch! Thanks :-)

      Thanks for your comment, awesome looking machines but when you buy a brand with a reputation like this and a price to match you expect everything to be made to a certain ‘special’ standard. For example let’s start with the key… which one would agree is an easy thing to Jazz up… NO, its the SAME tacky flip out key as any VAG (VW,AUDI SKODA to name but a few) with a tacky Bentley badge on it. All the harness connectors, switches and controls are also produced in the same manner and styling etc.
      The new Rolls Royce (7 series BMW) is also going down this route.
      We’ve come to expect a certain level of bespoke finishing with these brands and not just bouncy leather, some wood and an analogue clock on the dash of a Phaeton or 7 series.
      I sound moody but im not 😂

      Agree 100%. Brands you mention play on brand heritage to fool the rich into paying huge sums! I mean the RR is a 7 series in a suit! Aston couldn’t even create a car without past donors like Ford, Volvo & now Mercedes! Cheers!

    How much do you charge For this service? And what was the thing about the gasket? I have a 2006 Bentley that's at 57k miles and thinking about getting a tune up

    • @theeccentrick
      @theeccentrick  8 місяців тому

      Hi Austin, Depends what you mean by a “tune up” if you are after performance tuning (i.e remapping etc) im afraid its not my thing. I’ve done it all before as you can see from 1 or 2 of my other videos, but i am less hands on nowadays and tend to stick to straight forward repairs 80% of the time.
      If you are talking about servicing i.e replacing spark plugs, the filters and the necessary fluids or you have an issue with a vehicle then i may be able to help.
      The gasket was a repair i did later on the same vehicle its was the valve cover gasket that was leaking on bank 2.
