Brings back memories of my favorite band in grade school. We had a band that played KISS in our garage and the neighbors would come out and come watch. Good stuff.
This is prime Kiss, no doubt about it. They sound awesome here. They were my first concert, I was 12, 1981. I will never, ever forget the solo Ace did with those colored lights shining on him and the smoke billowing out of his Les Paul. Love you Ace
I saw them on the Dynasty tour. 1979. Long Island Coliseum. Judas Priest opened the show. We snuck in the back right behind and above Peter. Saw everything he played. I completely lost my 13 year old mind. Now, at 57, I can still remember it like it was yesterday.
Dynasty Tour which was here 1980 when I was 10&John Cougar opened. Was my last year of Trick or Treating too as Ace Frehley. Seen them about dozen times now&as much as I loved them/earlier shows. Hot in the Shade Tour still stands out as one their heaviest&best.
Every time I hear or see KISS it gives me good feelings and brings back memories of the concerts I saw-music I listened to and still listen too-keeps me feeling young and alive-gets me through life good or bad 👍🏼
Agreed with comments here: This is the quintessential KISS. They were a very tight and talented band. Their makeup and stage theatrics were something that people either "got" or simply did not "get it". If they didn't "get it" they dismissed the band as not being talented musicians. But they were very talented. Those of us who "got it" with KISS understood that the makeup, stage theatrics etc were all part of an entire package. KISS didn't want to just play music. They wanted their fans to be entertained in every possible way. And they made sure it was high energy. This video is great. Such a great entertaining band.
Saw them live on Jan. 9, 1975 at the Commadore Ballroom on Granville in Vancouver. It was their "Hotter than Hell" tour. Sat with Chief Dan George and we were both sure we lost some hearing that night lol. It was so loud.
Me too sadly missed kiss at the end of their Alive concert extended tour ....which started for Dressed to Kill Lp & was still going on 2 lps later after Destroyer was released.... Meanwhile 1 year & 4 months later another 2 LP's done & they are starting the greatest rock tour ever " Love Gun" which tore through Canada & did some American shows.... Sad I missed Alive at the end but saw Love Gun at the beginning.
Wow! 13 years old, waiting for the TV to boradcast the concert with friends all holding tenni srackets playing along! Thank you for taking me down to "memory Lane"...sigh! What an era!
I can remember when I was a member of the KISS Army. My bedroom walls were plastered with KISS posters. This brings back a lot of good memories for sure.
I bought dressed to kill when I was 5 I'm 53 now imagine how awesome they were to a five year old especially back in those days when they were considered fairly outrageous
1976 costumes...just before 1977 ones came in for Alive 2. This is the Japan tour just before they let loose on the states...brilliant, raw hard rock at it's best!!!!!
I saw KISS for Alive I as an opening act for Black Sabbath on their Technical Ecstasy tour and the crowd wanted Sabbath but couldn't turn loose of KISS it was truly amazing and if you were too young to go, then you are too young to know. These original 4 guys shook up the Rock-n-Roll world. They weren't just a fire show. They could jam.
I agree totally!!! The stage show and craziness took away from the real talent and ability the original lineup had!!! I think Peter and Ace were amazing and fantastic and Paul and Gene, even though they take every single chance to bash Peter and Ace, ridiculous!!! Still, original lineup are underrated and underappreciated!!!
That was the black sabbath Sabotage tour. Close though..... I wasn't even around then so I'm not giving u shit for getting a tour 2 years apart mixed up hahahaha
Saw them in May of ‘76 at the PA Farm Show in Harrisburg; it was their next to last stop on the Alive! tour before the Destroyer tour started in July. What a great show! It took almost 2 days to get all of my hearing back, they were so loud. Peter Criss did his long solo on 100,000 Years, with his drum riser going higher and higher towards the end of the song. Made a big impression on a high school kid.

I love the Rock n Roll Circus when it comes to town! Gene the flame thrower and blood spitter. Ace the Space Cadet. Paul the Lover and Peter the Catman! They were hot back then. I got my chance to see them on their 96 Reunion Tour. And they knew how to put on a show and party! It was like being in a time warp. It felt like the late Seventies when people just wanted to party all night in clubs. Thanks for posting!
Who said Peter wasn’t a good drummer? He plays the solo here great! He wasn’t as great as Bonzo but neither is anyone else. Criss had his own funky, Tribal style and sound! Heavy on the Tom Toms! I like it because he has a groove! He was perfect for KISS and his vocals are great on songs like Black Diamond, Hard Luck Woman and Beth! Three of my favorites! Criss rocked!
@@stephenstone8480 You’re entitled to your opinions. Certainly but I’d reverse that order. Bonzo was more powerful! Keith was wild and fun to watch but he got surpassed by Bonzo in my humble opinion. We can disagree. It’s not a problem. And i think Dave Grohl and Jimmy Chamberlain are on their level as well! 2 of the greatest drummers of the Nineties!
I always thought the drum solo on Alive II was crap compared to the solo on Alive I. But seeing this vid made me realize that Peter still had it, and the version on Alive II was just badly edited.
I saw them at the Forum in LA Kiss alive 2, my older brother and his best friend left me in the nosebleeds to smoke a joint someone sold em. It was laced with pcp and they forgot where I was 😂! I was 12 and loved Kiss so much I didn’t notice. I started playing guitar the next week because Ace hypnotized me as he did a lot of players after him. Great influence!
I remember loving this in 78 when it played on my TV in western Australia. I was 12 and already had posters covering my bedroom walls and my poor parents ears after buying me a drumkit..❤
Paul and Gene may hate him, but Ace was easily the best musician that band ever had...and regardless what you think of all you've heard about him, Vinnie Vincent is the most underrated member of KISS.

Saw them at the Philly Spectrum doing that tour, they were great. '77 or '78. I've met Ace a couple times, walked the streets of East Village NYC with him while drinking beers and a couple years later he was at The Whisky in LA when my band played there with Zakk Wylde. But KISS was great. One fun band for sure and always loved Aces playing.
U from Philly too born and raised I was born in 77 so I never got to see them obviously but u must have had a blast at the good ole Philadelphia spectrum my first concert was Jimmy page outrider tour at the spectrum
@@bigdaddydaddy3203 yes I also saw the Alice Cooper Killer Show at the Spectrum Jan '72, his Billion Dollar Babies show in March '73, Welcome to my Nightmare show in '75, all at the Spectrum. That venue used to be a crazy place way back then! Alcohol wasn't sold there so all the kids would show up shit faced and stoned. Fights, drugs in the bathrooms. There was a stabbing there. Took Peter Criss on my Shrimp Boat in 79 He had a dream of being a commercial fisherman after 2 days of sun and hard work he changed his mind very cool dude
This is what made them legendary. Totally at their best! Individual style cannot be duplicated. Parts can be played by a good player but it's not this.
This was awesome. Live at the Budokan in 1977 or 78. I first and only time I saw Kiss in 2019, End of the Road Tour. Only wished I had seen them in their hay days. I hope there are many more uploads will come out soon during their prime. I was 14 when I got their first album, Dressed to Kill, and it is on the Blue Casablanca label and I still have it . A rare record. Most of the Casablanca labels are tan. Now, I'm in my 60's and I still listen to them. Thanks for the Rockin' memories.
Now THIS is the KISS I fell in love with! This was the first rock concert I ever attended, the Rock And Roll Over tour, Feb. 1, 1977, in Milwaukee. They didn't have the large, lighted stairs then, and Peter is also missing the two, large leopards that flanked his drum kit, but he's still using the white, textured, Pearl, concert tom kit, which was always my favorite. Great to see KISS in their prime again!
KISS when they broke into the big time and became the hottest band in the world! Back when they were young, hungry and had something to prove! The Alive 1 and 2 double albums showed what they sounded like live and seeing that huge inner sleeve with the Stage shot and Stairs made you want to see them live. I finally got to see the original 4 on the 96 Reunion Tour and it was a dream come true. I was surrounded with huge KISS posters on my wall and I played only hard rock on my Stereo in my Room and I had a black light for the night time effect! It was great! Anyway, seeing them live was like relieving my teenage years. It was like a Time Warp because they had the Love Gun Costumes on and played like a well oiled machine. They looked like they were well rehearsed. It blew my mind! KISS know how to party and put on a killer show! It was like a Rock n Roll Live Circus! Then Gene spit up Blood and did his Fire 🔥 breathing Act. Then he gets raised to the Ceiling and sings two song. I’m looking up and thinking this man is fearless! Then Ace does the Burning Pickup guitar 🎸 trick and the guitar goes up to the ceiling. Then Peter does his drum solo and sings Beth afterwards. Incredible Show! 😮😊
When I hear that 2nd riff for the verse in Makin Love, I get chills all over. First concert I saw in my life was Kiss @ MSG I was 11. MY sister (older) told our Mother she was taking me to see John Denver. lol I recall coming up out of the subway and being like WHAT THE F*%K is going on here??? best time to be alive! I will never forget!

In 1977 we were obsessed with KISS and I joined the KISS ARMY at 12. When they came to NZ in 1980 we nearly lost our minds. First big concert of my life, I was 14 and I was just stunned, amazed and had the greatest night. This line up was the best with Ace and Peter .
Same. Had all the albums. My school books were covered in the KISS logo. I used to draw all their faces all the time. I was 13 in 79 and on my birthday my mother made me a Kiss logo cake. I once counted 124 pictures and posters on my wall of Kiss. There was nothing else allowed except for Kristy McNichol. She was cute. Alive II was my favorite album.
I agree greatest Album ever released but it can't be duplicated . They were young Hungry and had a lot to prove and they did just that . THE HOTTEST BAND IN THE WORLD.. K I S S.
They put on a Blazing 🔥show literally! With Genes Fire 🔥 Breathing act and those Flashpots going off! It was quite a Spectacle! They overwhelmed your senses like a Rock n Roll Circus 🎪 live and up front but without the Animals. Instead you had Four Guys in Clown makeup portraying Superhero characters they dreamt up. A Bat Demon, Lover, Spaceman and Catman! What a great gimmick they had! No one else had this along with the Costumes and Platform shoes. Plus they All sang and wrote songs! They actually patterned themselves after the Beatles. Just like Lennon said, most fans would pick a favorite member of the band and stick with them loyally. I always liked George the Quiet one, the best! I actually liked them all but George was my favorite! With KISS, it was Ace then Peter. Ace was the coolest and I always like his songs, style and his singing. Peter too! I do realize that Paul and Gene were both great and very different vocally. This is what made KISS so special and unique! Four guys who had different vocal styles! Only the Beatles had the same thing going for them before! I like all their voices and they harmonized so well together. That’s why they are the GOAT! KISS were great too! But no one tops the Beatles to this day! 😮😊
All the budokan shows on this tour were recorded by Eddie Kramer for a live album that was scrapped. The name of the album was supposed to be titled "Rock & Roll Party In Tokyo". In many circles, it is considered to be the Alive 2 that never came out.

my high school rented a bus in 1979 and for $25 as many of us as would fit on the bus I believe about 50, got a round trip ride and a ticket to see Kiss in Duluth MN. That was a amazing show.
Joey P I believe the first 5 Kiss albums were all classics. Just my opinion. Take care and peace. That duel guitar solo in "Detoit Rock City" is still one of my favorite Kiss solos. There are probably better ones, but that one has always stuck out to me and I never fail to play the "Air Guitar" whenever that comes on.
I would say the first 6 studio albums "(Love Gun" was their last studio album where all four played), of course Alive! and Ailve II... but I agree on "Detroit Rock City"
@@JeffKopis “Alive!” was a great album, but it wasn’t a studio album per se. “Sweet Pain” and “Great Expectations” ruined Destroyer for me. I think “Love Gun” was better than “Destroyer” but in my opinion there’s not one bad song on RARO and it’s recorded better except the drums sounded weak. If RARO was recorded like “Dressed to Kill” that would be the ultimate album.

It’s nice to know they were Everything to so many people. My videos and playlists are public on my channel. Feel free to drop in.
It aired on HBO and yes I saw it
❤ miss your mom too 😢
Brings back memories of my favorite band in grade school.
Saw them in 79 Dynasty Tour..
No doubt, this was the highlight of the originals, Stanley’s voice was maybe the best rock vocalist, these songs even have a groove to them , amazing
And my first in Aug 76 at Anaheim Stadium!!
Every time I hear or see KISS it gives me good feelings and brings back memories of the concerts I saw-music I listened to and still listen too-keeps me feeling young and alive-gets me through life good or bad
👍🏼
Agreed with comments here: This is the quintessential KISS. They were a very tight and talented band. Their makeup and stage theatrics were something that people either "got" or simply did not "get it". If they didn't "get it" they dismissed the band as not being talented musicians. But they were very talented. Those of us who "got it" with KISS understood that the makeup, stage theatrics etc were all part of an entire package. KISS didn't want to just play music. They wanted their fans to be entertained in every possible way. And they made sure it was high energy. This video is great. Such a great entertaining band.
No doubt THIS is KISS at their best! I love several eras of kiss but this era can't be beat
Then 1978 with the ill-fated solo albums.
75 thru 77 my fave years.! But they could never do me wrong.! I love all eras but the last one. But I still saw the scabs 3 times.😢
@@stevenattias1803Ace Frehley's solo record ruled.
@mr.brenman2132 yeah and Paul did a great album, too. It still killed them and pretty much Casablanca records.
I still love that drum set.i mean what you can't play on it.
WOW! I cannot even count the number of times I listened to this album over the years. So awesome to see the actual live footage!
Man, they are slamming. Everyone sounds great ,they're so tight. They're in top form!
Better words were never spoken
Saw them live on Jan. 9, 1975 at the Commadore Ballroom on Granville in Vancouver. It was their "Hotter than Hell" tour. Sat with Chief Dan George and we were both sure we lost some hearing that night lol. It was so loud.
Nice😊
Sweet
You saw Kiss in '75 at the Commodore with Chief Dan George?! Heavy!!!
What did Chief Dan think of the freak rockers?
Did you also visit the Cecil, the Marble Arch, or the Orange #5 that night? 😜 Favorite haunts of mine in the '90s.
Kiss was my first concert, they blew me away, they still freaking rock!!
I first saw them in 1978 on the Alive 2 tour I was so excited to see them in person ! 15 years old at the time, They were like Gods to me ....
Ditto, I was 10 years old when my sister took me to see them at the Mecca Arena in Milwaukee. They were bigger than life to me.
Finally saw them on the Reunion Tour. The boys saved my life.
whata show….what memoriez…thanx 🙏🏼
props to Paul for running down those stairs in those shoes.
yeah......ACE playing it safe 😂
That's why he has hip and knee problems now..😂
I can remember when I was a member of the KISS Army. My bedroom walls were plastered with KISS posters. This brings back a lot of good memories for sure.
I saw them in 1977 at the Richfield Coliseum - KISS LOVES YOU CLEVELAND!
I bought my first KISS album when I was ten years old. I just turned 50. A fan for life. Great video...
I bought dressed to kill when I was 5 I'm 53 now imagine how awesome they were to a five year old especially back in those days when they were considered fairly outrageous
You are officially old now. I know because I was born in 1964. 👍
11 saw them kiss alive Davenport Iowa ya I had a Kool dad dropped me and a couple buddies picked 😊us up after 🎉
Born 1964
I’m 58 now.
1976 costumes...just before 1977 ones came in for Alive 2. This is the Japan tour just before they let loose on the states...brilliant, raw hard rock at it's best!!!!!
Да, правильно подметил про кастюмы, я тоже обратил внимание на это !🎉
This was so exiting. Their music was so electrifying, powerful. Back then this was totally new in rock and the show was so hot
The amount of work these guys must have put into the choreography of the show was immense. Love this
At their best!
What year was this concert?
77
@@StacyMoczygemba thank you!
When it comes to that, Sean Delaney is an unsung hero.
1977 was absolutely the best KISS ever!!
Right on they kicked ass.
Reposting from Spaventacorvi's original post, who was gracious enough to give us the songs' time sequencing:

Thank you, I don't even like watching the extended videos anymore if they don't have time stamps LOL
Paul Stanley gave us everything he had with his voice for half a century. Thank you, Sir.
And, everything he had, didn't amount to shit vocals compared to the Catman!!!!
@@kevinchandler179 They both sounded great in their peak era. It's what made the band an unstoppable force.
This is KISS that I grew up with ... rock on
I love the Rock n Roll Circus when it comes to town!
Me too.reunion tour awsome show.
Cool era. Love Gun Stage, Destroyer Costumes, Rock and Roll over tour. They released three albums in two years! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯
This is the first concert international broadcast on TV. Channel 5 from Televisa in México was a hit. Thanks for the memories.
Bonham 2nd only to Keith Moon!
@@stephenstone8480 You left out Bill Ward, if Bonham was here he'd second that, they were great mates and loved each others drumming...
None of them are great musicians, but the four of them together put on a hell of a show back then!!!
Steve. I bet you became a bon Scott fan
The Kiss I grew up on for sure Ace was rocking on here
Paul and Gene may hate him, but Ace was easily the best musician that band ever had...and regardless what you think of all you've heard about him, Vinnie Vincent is the most underrated member of KISS.
Ahhh good times.. when the hair and the voices were real...😁👍
oooooooouuuuwwwww, yeaaaaaa!!!!!!!
😂😂
If I swung my arm like Paul on Rock & Roll All Nite,it would just fly off!!
Went and saw KISS with a good friend at the South Florida Fairgrounds. What a night to remember. I will always look back and smile. Miss you buddy.
This is; What it was all about
and
why as a kid; loved them so long ago...
Absolutely ultimate KISS performance!!! This rules!!

My first show,
Kiss and AC/DC
Does it get any better than that?
Cool.
Now that is a rock show
So do you have a preference between the two now? AC/DC is now my favorite band of all time.
FogHat
The pinnacle of rock n roll
Whats even more amazing in this year of concerts ACDC were the opening act a few times. What an incredible double.
Yea....and Gene propbably claims he made them famous
Heck Rush even opened for them
ACDC and Rush are way better than KISS
Not bad, both ACDC and Rush were big fans of Kiss
Everyone has opened for Kiss
Drunk people on the second tier barfing on the people down below. It could a nut house in the 70's!
Ace never lived in manhattan; never hung out in the village. In fact lived in Westchester County in 77 78 and then moved to Greenwich
@@patguarniero9211 never said he lived in Manhattan but there's no doubt I was with him the in east village walking down 1st Ave. When you're with Ace, you kinda know it lol. I'm talking '89/'90
Took Peter Criss on my Shrimp Boat in 79 He had a dream of being a commercial fisherman after 2 days of sun and hard work he changed his mind very cool dude
WOW! Just WOW! That's what I remember. The hey day. KISS! That sounded sooooooooooo good! Whew!
No doubt, this is them at their best.
You realize it s a fake live album and performance right?
You can feel the crowd sound is fake. Multiple audio layer.
It was all downhill from here. Gene and Paul made Ace and Peter too rich, too fast.
Smoking! Definitely one of the best all around Kiss shows. Bands tight sounding and hungry. Thanks for sharing this jem of one of the greatest ever!
@@acecometEverthing produced by KISS was not on the level. Such greedy crooks
This is the KIZZ that i grew up with❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
KISS on top of the world for real! NO one else was doing this music and type of shows then, but KISS. Pay attention kids this is KISS!
The best era no drama no fighting
Oh they were at war with each other over contract perks. That legal BS.
They were fighting, but still rocking.
Peter threatened to quit the band once a week from 74-79. They were always fighting 😂
@@jasonsmouse6570: Because Stanley Eisen and Chaim Witz were/are greedy Jews.
Kiddies..
Just understand the time period in which this was happening…
Just the best original four!!
Seen them on this tour in L.A. at the Fourm Cheap Trick opened I'm 60 now 🤟🤟🤟🌲🌲🌲
Me too.
This is awesome! Been following KISS since my HS days. Love the Ace solos.
High school I saw them at age 11 Kiss Alive Davenport Iowa 😅
ACE FUCKING ROCKS
***** ACE Frehley lead guiTAR!
Peter and Ace were amazing and fantastic!!!
He was perfect for that band and a huge reason KISS became so popular and made a name for themselves.
No Ace = No KISS
Drrockmarcellus thank u for sharing. This is KISS then. Not PISS today. God bless Peter & Ace.
This might be the best live thing I have seen!!! THIS is KISS!!!

Nice! Melodic, tight, and intricate. Great job on the sweep picking. The effects sound great too!! 👍
There is only one lineup, and that's with my boys Peter and Ace, no other bullshit or impostors will change our minds!!! Team Peter and Ace always
i think this is the best clip of KISS there is on youtube...surely it is!
wow this is the best sounding kiss concert ever thank you for posting it great job
This was the first concert I ever saw and it ROCKED! I love this old music. It still rocks,
I agree greatest Album ever released but it can't be duplicated . They were young Hungry and had a lot to prove and they did just that . THE HOTTEST BAND IN THE WORLD.. K I S S.
Got those bass lines sounding good and set right in the mix
The alive 2 was recorded in Los Angeles
I was there in la for 2 of the 3 nights at the forum for"alive 2" however they were wearing the love gun costumes and opened with stole your love all 3 shows ,i think this recording in Japan is alive 2 ,also recorded a TV show segment called" hype and glory" same 3 nights btw gene set his hair on fire 2and night trying to get a really big fireball for the TV show
@@norms3913 Parts of it were except for Beth, which was recorded at the 7:30 pm show of the two Budokan sets. You're watching the 4:30pm show (with audio from 7:30).
my high school rented a bus in 1979 and for $25 as many of us as would fit on the bus I believe about 50, got a round trip ride and a ticket to see Kiss in Duluth MN. That was a amazing show.
a great time in the band's career....all in top form...Frehley is excellent
"All are Excellent"
Such a shame Ace drank his career away.
I remember begging my parents to buy me ALIVE! They finally caved. I still have it and still listen to it. This is the KISS in my world. Best! 🙌🏻
"Rock and Roll Over" was KISS' best album....
Nah, ALIVE, then Destroyer, then Love Gun.
