Sony has been a leader in portable audio and headphones ever since the original Walkman. The new WF-1000XM3 earbuds are the fully wireless version of Sony’s award-winning over the ear 1000XM3 headphones that have surpassed Bose as #1 in noise-cancelling headphones.
The WF-1000XM3 headphones come in a small hard case that serves as a great way to transport them safely and as a battery source. The case is well designed and is approximately the size of two Airpods cases next to each other. The case charges the headphones while they are in it. The headphones themselves last for 6 hours with noise canceling on and 8 hours with it off. The charging case can deliver an extra 3 charges without ever having to plug the case in itself.
Additionally, you can get 90 minutes of use from only 10 minutes of charging. This battery time is a terrific improvement from the prior version and explains the slightly larger carrying case which can be charged using a USB-C.
The headphones come with 6 pairs of earbuds to choose from--three rubber and three foam. The earphones create a nice seal and stay in very well even through a full gym workout or a long run. Since there is no cable on these headphones, it’s the fit itself that holds them in your ears. This is no small feat for wireless headphones and we’ve found many competitor options, including Airpods, fall or slip out.
In conclusion, Sony WF-1000XM3s are now the best in class fully wireless headphones. The combination of great sound, great Bluetooth connectivity, advanced controls, long battery life, and industry-leading noise canceling makes these a no brainer in this category. - Наука та технологія
Already using wf 1000xm3 the best value for money.
do they always blink blue?
@@CRM1997 I didn't observe the lights much, used it in dark too, I don't think that blue light is an distraction there is much in that device.
They don't blink when they detect that they're in your ear.
On the other hand, I'm using these right now, and they won't stop falling out of my ears; the smallest tips are much too large for me.
If you have ever had issues with earphone tips, these are not for you.
@@collinshaw8744 initially they fell from my ear too, but somehow I tried to fix it, now I don't have that problem, ready the instruction manual mate and try to figure out the perfect bud.
Usually not a fan of wireless earbuds, but willing to give Sony a chance!
Great review! Can you review Creative Outlier Gold? Please
I normally hate in-ear headphones because of their fit. I'm glad to see Sony has addressed the issue and made a better fitting product.
If you have issues with sizing with in-ear earphones, these are not for you. I purchased these and am going to have to return them because they won't stay in my ears with any of the tips.
@@collinshaw8744 What vendor allows for a return on an earphone?
Tyler Lemery: Best buy.
@@collinshaw8744 I wonder whats different about your ear holes that cause problems with IEMs. Maybe you have HUGE holes and the biggest tips are still too small for you or something haha
Cal... It's actually quite the opposite. The smallest tips wouldn't even go in my ears, they just kind of sat there on the outside of my ear, and the things stuck out of my ears really, really far.
How are they holding out for running/gym/working out after a year?
These look awesome!
hey guys, how does it suit for doing sports (running)? fits well o 700 series better?
Great review! Up to the point!
Thanks!
My husband has a previous model and loves them!!
If he has WF-1000X they are not good. Many problems with connection and floating sound from one earpeace to another and sound is not like on WF-1000XM3. I had it and they gave me two times new one and still not good.
this puts some real pressure on the airpords 3 coming this winter
Great review!!!!! Love the product
Thanks Mike! Glad you're enjoying it too
When you had them on, did anyone around you say they could hear the music coming from it? While trying the PowerBeats Pro, that was a major issue (especially since I needed to raise the volume higher to get any decent bass) and my friend said it was loud. I mostly use these for studying in quiet rooms, so I don't want it to be a problem. Thanks for the review!
We didn't have that problem!
You don't have that problem with these because, unlike Powerbeats Pro, they seal in your ear. The Powerbeats pro is not a seal and thus lets a lot more sound out than these.
Best review out there 👏🏼
Thank you!
It's on backorder now. Are you sure you guys are going to get them late August?
We are scheduled to have another shipping of them arriving late August correct. The demand for these has been incredible!
@@AudioAdvice I've been waiting. August is almost over
These look really cool! I can't wait to get a pair for my endurance training.
@Fahad Alam These technically are not waterproof. However they are well designed such that the channel to the driver moves upward from your ear canal (thus minimizing impact from sweat). Additionally, if you take them apart, you will see a foam filter to keep dust, etc. out. I used the prior version for some time and never had an issue from sweat but you obviously can't swim in these or something that would require full waterproof.
@@newnamfamily There is an open hole on the side for the mics on these so I'd be careful
I like the way they look
Can these be used one at a time like the airpods?
yes!
Are these water resistant at all? Looking for a pair of headphones for the gym
Sony doesn’t provide an ip rating but reviewers claim it might survive one or two drops of sweat/water
We've tested them running in 90+ degree weather and had no problems, maybe we got lucky. Like Luis mentioned they don't claim to be water resistant or proof.
I probably go for the white ones. Thanks for your review
They're gold not white
They seem grey to me or a matte finished white
Sony describes them as "silver" but they look more cream white!
@@AudioAdvice Yeah it looks rather light tanned. Anyways, please have them in stock lol
These have been the only truly wireless earbuds that fit my ears comfortably!
I've tried the Jabra 65t and some newer Jaybirds and I've found that I have a larger conch that both earphones have pressed on and created sores. These are the first that I can wear with no ear fatigue!
To me too. I had Sony WF-1000X, Apple AirPods, Apple AirPods 2 Jabra 65t, Powerbeats Pro... They all got loose or and Apple ones fall out. But, these Sony WF-1000XM3 fits too good and don't fall aout. Very impressed.
Keep in mind that Sony's WF-1000x are not moisture resistant. If you are doing a lot of exercise with your earbuds take a better look at the PowerBeats Pro. Otherwise, for sound and features, definately consider these Sony earbuds!
I wish they can connect to multiple devices at once! :(
The design of the Power Beats Pro is completely old-fashioned compared to these Sony earpods.
Idk weather to get the over ear or this one
Either are a great choice. However, if you plan to use them for working out, the wireless option is a no brainer!
For me over ears are too much of compressing over my head and it gets uncomfortable after you use it for a long time
Can you use one earned at a time someone please respond
Hi Miles! We were able to use the headphones one at a time. If for some reason you can't, all settings can be adjusted through the app.
That feel when I'm watching this video with XM3's
halo How mag please
They now have volume control 👏
Now black is available but silver isn't at your store. That means silver ones are more popular?
what about the sennheiser momentum?
I wish they had volume control on earbuds
They have
They do not.
@@albin99olsson haha you're right
Eric Silbermann get tranya earbuds
Not sure how long these will last running given they do not have any water resistance...
We never experienced any issues with the prior model (WF-1000X) and some of us used them for running every day.
If we see water resistance issues with the WF-1000XM3 we will update!
@@AudioAdvice thanks, appreciate that!
@@AudioAdvice How are they holding up to sweat and gym use 2 months later?
Can't get tho pair it with my Sony Bravia TV

Beoplay E8 2.0 All Day. How you picked The Sony over them is Amazing.
they are NOT noise canceling
4 hours of battery life
Seriously ... does Sennheiser not enter into the picture somewhere for best sound ?
No they actually sound pretty bad in the lower treble region... check the rtings review for a bench test of the sound signature where you can see a significant scoop.
Most of the reviewers say Sennheisers sound the best. Don't forget the Sony's have no water resistance yet he keeps talking about them being good for excercise. I sweat when I exercise. No volume control on them sucks so they better be the best sounding on the market.
@@jeffreyjones6237 Sony WF-SP900 are for sport and exercise.
Sony WF1000X3 is a best. 💪💪💪
klipsch and sennheiser would be a better comparison than airpods and beats
I agree.
Am I the only one who finds the obligatory comparisons with Apple products tedious and gratuitous? Holy cow, the Sonys, the Klipchs, the 1Mores are all on a higher level yet we always get the obligatory comparison with Apple? Can we please move beyond this, please?
Agreed. Maybe it's just for clicks, because the general public mostly knows about Apple? I think a more serious review would have compared those to, say, Bose's Quiet Comfort wireless earphones.
@@Buddychigo why would you compare true wireless earbuds to over ear headphones, there's large difference in soundstage and other sound characteristics. The powerbeats is the competition from Bose, it's a good comparison.
As far as comparing them to apple, well the airpods are suprisingly good products, and also the most popular. I'd have liked seeing klipsch t5, jabra elites and sennheiser momentum here though.
@@Perfect_setupMore interest in Apple... Is that actually true?
@@Perfect_setup please provide an quantitative source for your assertion. Otherwise it is just your opinion
@@Perfect_setup ok, Your Highness. You asserted something ('there is more interest in Apple') so the burden of proof is on you.
They dont have aptx hd so do they sound good on android ?
They do sound good on android. Obviously they are not designed to be audiophile level of a something like a $500 pair. However, if you are looking for completely wireless headphones, I think they will be the top choice currently for most people (with Powerbeats being the other top preference for iPhone users). The key to getting good sound though is that you need to get a good seal in your ear canal. The trick to doing this is to choose a foam insert that is one size larger than you would normally think fits. Then you squeeze it down and insert. Then it will expand and create a great seal. Once you do this, I think these are going to have the best sound of truly wireless headphones and rival some much higher priced options.
Scott Newnam i just dont want them to sound bad without aptx hd.
It uses AAC on Android, same as on iOS
Shame about the case size. It’s huge! And what? No volume control?
The case is definitely larger than the AirPods.
Get over it
Google assistant for volume control and a bigger case for sound quality and noise canseling is wort it
Better than the Sennheiser?
Soundwise ... Sennheiser is still the best. Sony has a narrow soundstage.
I have to say...
I have these ear phones, and they will not stay in my ears. The smallest tips are much too big for my ears.
If you have problems with ear tips being too big for you, these are not for you.
If u plan on selling them let me know , forreal!!!!
Atleast try comply foam smartcore before u decide to return those earbuds
Be sure to try both the smallest foam and smallest rubber inserts. They should be a tight fit so that you seal the ear. If you bought them from Audio Advice, we send each customer a special link to a video where I show tips and tricks for using these headphones. One tip is how to spin the earphone into your ear to get the best seal/fit. If you reach out to our team, they can probably provide a link for you.
I have long since returned them, but believe me when I say that I scoured the internet looking for ways to get them to fit.
Lack of volume control is a massive mistake
Google assistant
@@albin99olsson asking Google Assistant to turn down the volume is cumbersome, unintuative and, frankly; a completely useless alternative to button assignability.
When you said "good amplification" you lost credibility. These don't get loud as most competing models. Most of the time one will have them above 90% for normal volumes.
Also how do they compare to the momentum wireless in sound quality (the current king of Sq)? Explain why they sound the best. Talk about bass, midrange, treble, soundstage, imaging, etc.
Also know that these aren't waterproof. So they may or may not have problems for really sweaty people or out in the rain.
These Sony’s look good but my AirPods have never fallen out of my ears!
better be careful working out brother cause they aint waterproof
It won't be too much of a problem with sweat maybe water but working out too much shouldn't be that much
Please address the latency issue with iOS products, iPhone and iPads.
never had that issue myself
This review seems biased in favor is the Sony’s because they didn’t mention the Senheiser Momentum, B&O E8 2.0, or the Klipsch T5 at all. I say this as a fanboy of Sony’s headphones.
Yup. I agree with you completely. I feel that the Sony WF-1000XM3’s direct competitors would be the headphones you mentioned, and perhaps the Master Dynamics. I find that those that have compared the higher end IEMs that you mentioned usually come to the conclusion that the Sennheisers have the best sound, while the Sony is good all around, but not the best - except for ANC, where it dominates the game due to being one of the only players the market that have figured out how to do proper ANC on a true wireless IEM.
Personally, I have the Sennheisers and the Jabra Elite 65t. I much, much prefer the sound of the Sennheiser over the Jabra. All of the reviews I read or watched about the Jabra talked about how great the sound is - I found it the opposite. The sound is unlistenable to me - piercing highs, muddy bass and too warm with a lack of detail. However, I still carry the Jabra with me the most as they are compact, have no issues with battery drain, and have some really nice tech and supporting app. I mainly use it to listen to UA-cam videos or podcasts - not so much music.
Also, some have exaggerated how good the sound of the Momentum True Wireless is. Some say the sound just as good as the IE800.No way. I have the IE80s, and when testing the IE800, the IE800 blows the IE80 out of the water. When comparing the IE80 to the Momentum TW, the MTW stands no chance. The MTW sounds great for a true wireless IEM, however, if I were to compare the sound to a wired IEM, I would say they complete with IEMs in the $100 range.
I also have the Sony on preorder and once it arrives, I’ll let people know about my experiences.
You make a good point here. I've tried most of the truly wireless IEMs and decided to narrow the comparison to Airpods and Powerbeats because they are the most popular. Admittedly I've not yet tried the Klipsch T5s, so I can't comment on them. Although I will try them soon and try to get out the pros and cons vs the other top ones. I think the Sony's are superior to the others you mention for most people because of a better fit, more features and slightly better sound. Of them all, I think Powerbeats is the closest to the new Sony's and then it becomes about what your use case is. If its 100% gym and aggressive movement, some people will prefer the Powerbeats because of the loop to hold them in place. If its more multi-purpose, I think most people would prefer the advantages of the new Sonys.
Scott Newnam That’s a great video idea, I think
Agree that this comparison is extremely limited as it doesn't mention the other expensive TWS - especially the Senheisers. Nearly every review I have read state that the Senheisers sounds better (though they lack ANC and have worse battery life).
Still, a good video overall
You dont watch you tube? There are 100 reviews already for this!!
I dont like apple products but this is surely a paid Ad right?
Michele Bianchi if they stay in- I have the old version and they suck staying in. Most buds do. I love my powerbeats pro. I live close to that audio advice in Raleigh and they are a High Volume Sony Dealer. Projectors, Tvs, speakers etc. The place is crazy with all the Theater setups and I bought my subs and projector from them. Super nice guys but Sony paid advertising for sure
Actually no. I am really into headphones and have both the apples and the Sonys and decided to do this review myself after hearing them. As I mentioned in the video, the PowerBeats have volume control which is nice. However, all around the Sonys are my favorite. The sound is better and the noise canceling is unmatched. It really depends on what your use case is for the best headphones.
@@show2ime Thank you for the positive comment on our team--we appreciate it. This is actually not paid at all. In fact, we will sell out of these really quickly and they won't be an economic impact on us at all--we are happy to have access to a batch for our customers at launch. For most use cases these are now my favorite. It sounds like you have Powerbeats pro which are also great and have the advantage of volume control. We have historically found Sony TVs and projectors to most often be the best at the higher performance price points. That said, we carry all of the major brands in both tvs and audio. If you ever use your older sony in ear's again, the trick I have found is that you need to choose a larger foam earbud than what would normally fit; then you squeeze down the foam for a couple of seconds and insert the earbud. You also do this with Shure headphones and most earbuds with foam inserts. When you do this, it will dramatically improve the sound/bass and will hold them in tightly. Thanks again for the support!
@@scottnewnam6976 hey man- I actually bought the new wf1000 Sonys to wear. I have the whxm3s also. I will say the new Sonys sound great and the noise cancelling is outstanding. I just don't workout in them. I think the pros are better for the gym and the Sonys for everything else. Again great spot and my apologies on thinking you got paid for it!
