@@tyronefromprison2844 hmm well I understand what they were trying to say. Since the airpods don't actually stay in your ear rather than just outside your earlobe(?), It allows a lot of sound in. So if you're on public transport like the bus, you will try to cancel the noise of the bus engine with your music since it's louder than your music.
So basically, if you go on the bus with 30-40% volume, you might put it to 70-80% to actually just hear the music without any background noise.
Meaning*** louder music = can damage your ear and make you like... More deaf? Or more like have hearing problems

Fair enough, sound quality is much better and I would definitely pick the Sony buds if the AirPods fell out of my ears. But you can't beat the convenience of the AirPods.

So if you have the Sony ones paired to a Garmin smartwatch with on board music storage then how would you control the volume on the ear buds? Would they just be on the last volume setting you were using them with a different device like your phone or computer?

How are the Air Pods $159? How would you charge them without a case? The real price difference is $30 and the Sony buds are light years ahead of Apple's for only $30 more.
For only $10 you can get "Airpods" that are 100% waterproof. No charging needed. No connection issues. Cheap! They are called the "Oral-B Electric toothbrush replacement head". Comes in a 3-pack.
It's funny how tech journalists always include the catchyness of product names in reviews. Names aren't the things consumers care when making a purchase decision. It only matter when journalists have to talk about the products.
It's a good indication of if the journalists are reviewing the products from consumer's perspective or not.

If Sony had volume controls and were water resistant, they would be perfect
Gram Wat except for call quality sound for the person being called. And, the AirPods were much much better than Sony, regardless of this video. See my Amazon Sony wf 1000xm3 review (currently second from the top most helpful).
What, are you going to swim with them? It can survive being in the rain but I highly doubt that they need to be water resistant along with any wireless earbud, come on now.
You can get the sony sp700n. It is IPx4 . But has only 3 hours charge with anc. But the case will give you 9 hours of charge.
Hex US if you are working out you take a risk of them failing?
My biggest con in the huge case ugh
I have both and both are great but the Sony’s are miles better. Personally if you have the over the ear headphones than the noise cancelling won’t blow you away and the NC definitely does have a hiss to it when not listening to music, but the the great thing about the Sonys is if you are listening to audio it blocks out other noises. For example on my flights the sonys when listening to UA-cam videos I can’t hear anyone and the voices are clear. On the airpods even when on max volume I have trouble hearing the dialogue over the outside noise from the plane and people talking.

i own both, and both have their own calls to excellence. I wear the airpods and the sony's and love them both, IMHO the clarity of highs and mids are better on the airpods.

Hi Ozone. I'm thinking about these as well. I have the WH-H900N which are excellent headphones. However having listened to the WF-1000XM3 earbuds for a week now I think they're better than the WH-H900N's. The wide soundstage & the superb treble performance give them the edge. I still can't get my head around the fact that a pair of earbsuds can sound better than a really high quality pair of over ear headphones!

Sony's earbuds are an absolute charm to own. Bundled up with surprisingly good ANC and useful features. They are almost perfect. Could use an IPX5 rating and you have a market killer.

Richard Bermudez yes for those which i am always having in my pocket. For clarification: i do own several earbuds for several reasons. One for always having in my pocket (small size and good mic quality), one for hearing music and one cabled because my macbook pro dies not have BT5. If all those features may have been combined in to one product, this would be awesome. If not, there is no reason to change a running system.
I'll wait for volume control. There's enough room on the Sony buds.

Dear CNET the Sony's last 8hrs without Noice cancelling turned on & 6hrs with Active voice cancelling. So the lady who didn't know why the Sony's "seemed to have more juice" needs to at least read what's on the box before doing a "vs" review with your favourite Apple airpods. 🤦🏽♂️

James McQuillan You’d be surprised. I don’t know much about the Sony’s but you can literally put the AirPods in a washing machine and they’ll survive. My brother has done it about 2-3 times already and they’re good as new.

I have been using both of these earbuds daily. For music and noise cancellation, Sony wins although I still have difficulty to find the perfect bud size for passive noise blocking. But for general use, I still prefer Airpods2 coz call quality much clearer without fuzz. People that I call always complain for my voice if using the Sony in noisy environment since its mic pickup everything.... will try AirPods Pro soon.
I am a iOS user and also own the Airpods and they are great no doubt but just got the Sony WF-1000XM3 and for me are much better earbuds than Airpods. In any case thank you very much for the comparison and keep it up!

How is it terrible? Your attitude is terrible.
This shouldn't be a comparison since the Apple AirPods are plain old open air ones and no app for More EQ adjusting of ambient sound of in your ear EarBuds of the Sony and others. But with the Sony, they are large in your ears. I like them in my Ears like my Jabra Elite 65t's and app for more settings of sound and ambient sound with calls and I use on my PC and Phone where I can control volume in the DEV Edge and see the slider..
Had the Sonys for two weeks now. Loving them. Sound quality is excellent. The best ive heard on wireless earbuds. Design and build quality is really good, and the ANC does a nice job of dampening sounds and stopping sound leakage when listening to music. Battery life is also excellent. 9/10 for me.
After two months, would you recommend them?

The inclusion of the Samsung Buds I believe would have been appropriate here. They have decent audio quality, wireless charging and volume control built into the units themselves. A 3-way melee would have been very intriguing but between the 2 models shown, Sony, hands down.
Samsung Buds actually have awesome sound quality if you can get the right fit. I switched to some extra large silicone tips that came with a different set of earbuds and the sound quality is amazing. I just wish those tips had been included with the buds in the first place.

Very nice comparison but I will have to give the edge to the Sonys. I have used them for about 10 days now and they are phenomenal! AirPods are also a great option though.
About the Sony earbuds: They just released a firmware update. Before you could only use the Google Assistant, now it can use Amazon Alexa AND you have an option to CONTROL THE VOLUME! I love it!
Sony design is really good. But I bought airpods2 yesterday, because Kernel type of ear buds is quit stuffy for me.

I’m just curious about what people think about the following fact. I agree that Sony is better, but I already using a noise canceling headphones and thinking on buying a set of wireless EarPods for using it for audible and YouTubing when I’m comfortable at home maybe laying in bed on a pillow. The fit and form of the AirPods seems to be more comfortable in described environment then Sony. What do you think ?

After I listened to the Sony I will never go back to AirPods. The sound quality is far more superior than AirPods. I bought the Sony before Christmas and love listen to them frequently. I am so glad I bought them! Seriously It’s like sticking two HiFi speakers on your ears! It delivers very clean and powerful and balanced sound!
Give me the Sonys any day of the week.

I have the Sony WH100XM3 headphones but I feel that the WF1000XM3 would be too expensive because I like being able to hear the world around me with the AirPods.
