I don't know if the kids read these things, but I would like to say to them, Thank you for helping out your parents. I see them helping with the chores and getting things done, and as an older person I can say that I am jealous of you all since all my kids are grown and gone. Their help is invaluable and the stuff they learn will help them throughout their lives. Seeing them grow up over the years is a real joy to watch, and I hope they realize through this thank you to them, that the value of their parents saying Thank You to them is much more real and meaningful than they might currently realize. May God bless you all.
They’re all learning so many life skills, to be engaged adults, the boys and little Miss Lillianna. A beautiful childhood which will feed into a great adult life. 🥰
I think it's wonderful how you've developed your compost system to a science! And now you're teaching other homesteaders how to do it. You all have the hardest working chickens I ever saw!! Meg, you fixed Buggie's hair so beautiful! All her gorgeous blonde curls make the perfect messy bun that I'd love to have myself!! She is such a beautiful baby girl!❤
I love how real y'all are! The house chaos, the kid chaos, the real food & meals, the fact that you get dirty & show it, & how you talk like you're just chilling with friends over a beer. Great video today. The compost detail is much appreciated as we are starting to make our own this year.
Meg, and Ben, I love watching families, and how they're in the real world. Let us see your true kids 😊 and their silly antics......LOL We enjoy the silly antics because ours are grown, and raising their own families.
As a NaNa I always have two big bowls of candy sitting on my Hoosier by the kitchen door and the grandkids help themselves ( just like my grandmother use to) so by the time the grandkids were leaving they had a sugar high 🤣🤣 paybacks for my kids. Ben, once again interesting info on composting. Meg, yes we're always interested in what's for dinner.😊 Ben & Meg, you produced 4 handsome young men and 1 beautiful daughter. Have a wonderful weekend be blessed. 😊🇺🇲
I knew it!! and I love it! little Lilly with her vibrant personality has broken open the flood gates for the boys I think to express themselves a little bit more.. I can only imagine what your boys and the Rhodes boys get up to when they get together! Y'all are wonderful and I wish you nothing but the best!
I never get tired of watching the "re-set" of the chicken compost system. Always learn something new or it triggers new ideas for me to try! Blessings on the Hollar Family Homestead!🥰🌻🐛💕
Compost is almost a wonderful as having running water. Two of the most important things on the homestead. Love it when the boys come to work on camera.
Meg and Ben, I'm a 72 the old great grandma who loves watching your adventures. I love watching as you learn new things. I unfortunately live in town, but I have 8 raised beds and continually build more. I can and freeze my crops, as well as share with family and my church. Keep going, you are fantastic people.
Don't know what you use to motivate your kids but there involvement whether shenanigans or productive farm labor is probably the best part of your homestead vlogs. (Don't tell Dad)
Reminds me of when I was a child. My mom told me of a time she found me in the middle of the kitchen table, mom asked me what I was doing! I told her just me and the sugar bowl. That was her story! Lol
Reminds me of when I was about Buggie's age, I knew where mom kept the powdered sugar. I'd slip and dip my little finger in and it was so good. I didn't think mama knew what I'd done except I must have had powdered sugar all over my face, so I got caught! My sweet mama never scolded me! And she never changed where she kept the powdered sugar!
Ya'll are absolutely beautiful, every last one of you. You've been in my top four homesteading channels for years... top two, actually. (Doesn't make any difference if Bumblewood or Renegade is in operation. That's just icing on the cake!)
Always a great vid! I love the music 🎵🎶 in this one. Definitely fits you guys :) love watching your family grow and mature and I hope the boys realize how amazing they are and how blessed they are. Keep being amazing Hollar Fam! Blessings! And Happy Easter!
BTW, Ben, thanks for the composting chickens theorem. It makes good sense. I have an old dog pen, cement base, started building my compost pile 15-20 years ago. Chickens do go into it daily, tons of worms but not red wiggles. It gets milk, yogurt all the way to bones and weeds. I've got to make that softer you have to sort out the peach pits. Happy Easter family ❤
Your content is what I have been going to too sooth my soul and bring me peace and assurance that everything that has changed this last year in my life is going to be okay. Thank you all! Thank you for all of the realness. My last child is turning 18 in May, I've had 7 children (all are mine, 2 are ours). 20 year marriage now separated (my choice), no regrets. I left 20 years of gardens and plants and mother earth beauty, God was always in the garden with me ( I left it in a stage where they that came after could love if they wanted to). I'm trying to find myself and my garden again. I will push on. The highlight of this video was seeing Ben's hair down, could we see you both with your hair down? Ben and Meg. I bet it is a beautiful sight. All that hair in your family is gorgeous!!
Love seeing the compost videos. every video you do explains it a little better. Ive been trying to do the same thing as you and Billy for the past 6 months, havent quite figured it out, but im getting closer…i think i may need more chickens…
Y’all are so smart about the science and chemistry of your homestead! I can’t imagine where y’all find the time to study, but we are glad that you do! Happy Homesteading! 😊
Your composting is amazing. Every time I see you go through the process though, I think "Ben, put in two more gates to the run." One on each side of the corner where your outside piles are, opening inward. Time to scoop finished compost into the ready to use pile... Open the gate and shovel it directly into the right spot. (bottom half of that gate and run wall can be solid for tractor to scoop against.) Time for new chips in the bottom of the ring... Open that gate and scoop directly from the pile into the ring. No need to fill a wagon, pull it around and dump either way. You and the boys work hard enough. maybe my idea would streamline the job a bit.
I am so thankful that you left CA, renewed your marriage, homesteading and not working ,9-5. And the Best, having a daughter. You made New friends. Built a home. Next two sons driving on the road. BLESSED RESURRECTION SUNDAY and GoOD FRIDAY. Teach the Rhodes how to make compost. YOUR A BLESSED FAMILY 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🛐🛐🛐🛐🛐🛐🀄🀄🀄🀄🀄🀄💖💖💖💖💖💖❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️☀️☀️👍
The pigs sure look happy! Seeing everyone help milk and then move the cows was fun to watch. Great job with your boys rotating the compost system. That tractor has been so handy for you Ben! Yum! Beef and Cheesy Mac! Thanks for this video Hollar family!
Ben, I wish more people would look at your system because it does work. I'll start mentioning it to the other sites I subscribe to and suggest they look at it. Great job.
Your system is just that, your system! As long as it works for you then it is what it is!! Those of us with big dreams of doing what yall are doing love every minute of your system! Keep being true to yourself and the processes you have put in place and continue to grow your food!!!
Happy weekend Hollar family. There is everything to be thankful for and your family shines it bright. Maybe Meg will share her herb garden next week? Unless you plan on keeping it your secret garden of course.
Wow what a great encouragement it is when you all sit down and pray as a family together. I think it would be even more of an encouragement if we could hear those prayers. Just saying Ben God bless you and your family
Hey Hollers, your Compost is incredible Ben 👍. Having the Chickens a part of the system is genius ! Oops poor Camera😢. Have a nice weekend 🌞 there is some Sunshine for yah since your gonna have Rain😊. JO JO IN VT 💞
The comments all are in my thoughts as well! Keeping it real is so refreshing. I watch many, and can smell sneaky click bait that is not appealing. They may think they are being “ cute” or manipulative, but turn me off entirely! Thank you for your honest sharing! Praying you will not grow weary bringing the reality. Totally love you all! Meg, you are the glue! The fuel, and a wonderful help mate. Growing a beautiful daughter to see how being what moms and wives are supposed to be. Love catching the little sweet kisses. You add so much to my life. I’m looking at my life from the trails end. Have lived all the things you folks are doing. A farmers heart I have. And at this 84 th year and learning the end is not far away. I can look back, love it all and you are adding so much to these last miles .
Ben, I remember when you were digging your first garden beds by hand and just loving it. Watching the compost master at work makes your eyes smile and it oddly enough make me feel better. Anyway sending positive vibes for y'alls spring projects.
I wish I were a vlogging channel sometimes, it seems so fun and easy, but then again, I'm an educator, I teach stuff, that's just how I am and I want people to be able to search for specific answers to their questions. I reckon we all have our niches and that's what makes the UA-cam world go round! I love watching y'all's daily life vlogs and seeing how different our lives are but yet still the same. Thanks for sharing!
You two have a beautiful family! I admire your hard work, dad's yard work, mom' s cooking and creating! Your children are amazing and your little one is as cute as a button!❤
They got busted lol so cute, they are such good kids helping out when they are needed and sometimes even when their not. I applaud y'all and many blessings to y'all
Like your compost system learn new ways from every video. Thanks for sharing the chaos as well it make the videos more normal not just the good clean side of things. Sometime everyone have to get sweaty and dirty to get the job dune its called progress. Good weekend.
I'm so thankful I found your channel when Buggy was just toddling. Ya'll bring joy to we old folks as we watch how you function as a whole and complete family. Thank you so much for sharing your ups and downs and all around. Blessings and Happy Easter!
hey Ben, I've seen a few videos where they put a stick with copper wire wrapped around it and stuck in the ground near the vegies etc and the results are amazing, something to do with the magnetism which helps the soil, worth a try I suppose and will cost you nothing
Love the video and learning about your compost system. Your chickens can't wait to jump on the compost pile and get to work. I looking forward to a wood chipping video. God bless and have a Happy Easter weekend ✝️
We've watched you guys since you were traveling! Sold our homestead up north and moved to start a new one in Arkansas. (love it!) Anyways...we just put together our compost pile on steroids for our chickens! Our land is CLAY and ROCK, so if we have the success you've had, we'll be super happy! Thanks!
The Velociraptors really earn their keep! Nice composting system! I love seeing the earthworms, they wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t organic. I had just been thinking the exact same thing!
Loving home, loving parents and happy to help with the chores. I had to pry my kids off the couch to help ME.
Well said. These kids are fantastic and reflect the positive parenting in their life.
Very well said….and so thoughtful. Every word of it is true. ❤
They’re all learning so many life skills, to be engaged adults, the boys and little Miss Lillianna. A beautiful childhood which will feed into a great adult life. 🥰

I love seeing the kids on camera and just being normal kids; loud, playful and just full of life.
There is so much entertainment. I hate when it ends. Your family is amazing.
I never get tired of watching the "re-set" of the chicken compost system. Always learn something new or it triggers new ideas for me to try! Blessings on the Hollar Family Homestead!🥰🌻🐛💕
I absolutely love y’all. Those kids are a real blessing. Thank you all for the spontaneous laughter. ❤❤❤❤❤🤗🙏🏼

Thank you so much for sharing homesteading, and not politics and current events. Your channel is a refuge and an inspiration.
Wonderful kids! I see the boys helping with cooking sometimes. I hope they learn to cook and get to help more with cooking, too.

Why Ben, I do believe you are becoming a true Southern homesteader. You have learned where "over yonder" is. Love you all to pieces.
I love your compost system - so productive! I'm going to attempt something similar here. Amazing system!!
Love you guys.
The system.

Your boys are young men. Many hands make light work. Please toughen them up. You would be doing the future world a favor.

Oh NO! Meg has the dreaded Repetitive Recipe Repertoire??!! Say it isn't so! (lol) Happens to the best of us cooking from scratch every night mamas. Especially when we have that well we need to use that or it is going to go bad situation in the fridge.
