The MO addresses my main concerns about the TD-3 and puts it the same class as the 777. When evaluating a friend's TD-3 I found myself wanting to twist the knobs a bit more than they would actually go, but on the MO that doesn't seem to be a concern. I heard a lot of familiar sounds in this video that I've either dialed into my own 777 or heard on the original devilfish demo recordings, and I'm glad that another generation will have easier access to this sound palette.
Nice breakdown and full tour of the MO, thanks for laying it all out. I've been using mine for about a year now and still am scratching the surface of what it can do sonically (though, admittedly, I haven't properly read through the manual- just sort of flailing wildly in the dark 😂). Thanks for sharing! (And big thanks to Robin Whittle for the O.G. Devilfish 🙂)
Thank you Sir! Best explanation I've seen on youtube so far and I've watched alot! Someone once asked if it was possible to get the same sound on the MO as on the OG TD 3...
haha, there's no beat or nothing - and i still found myself bobbing my head along. I guess that's the power of it, credit to Behringer, they knocked it out of the park with this.
Hi there ! I really want to know what mixer you are using in this video . I'm looking into a new mixer to jam w/ my 09 and 2 303's and Im having a bit of trouble deciding atm .
Thanks for this walkthrough. May I suggest you make a vid demo’ing some of the possibilities the MO’s patchbay opens up? Basically no videos on UA-cam show and explain what you can do as far as routing CV and the other ins/outs. Thanks again, new subscriber (in a bid to motivate you, like you asked 😉)
Hey Ben, thanks for the sub! To be honest I’ve only done one experiment with the patch bay so far, although that was a success. This is a good video idea and I’ve made a note, might well do something :)
Is the MO version is able to do the classic 303 sound with the distortion? I saw its only have Overdrive but even on full overdrive it doesnt sound like a distortion
I wish there was an overhead shot of the knob settings, the sound is great. I find the MO pretty difficult to set to "still 303 but better" I have the regular TD-3 and an original TB-303, but the MO has become more of a sideshow in my studio, which I didn't expect when it first arrived.
Looking for an answer to the red accent button and why it doesn't stay engaged like the sub oscillator button and why you have to hold it down manually to keep it engaged and if this button could be modified like the sub oscillator button. For me this v was a poor production choice
Moin Gwem, is there a button combination to turn off the flashing LEDs in the case? I've had the Td3 MO since yesterday and the flickering around is already getting on my nerves! Greetings from Germany
@@gwEmbassy Your video was very helpful to understand all the functions of the Devilfish Mod on the Td3 MO. thanks for that Have you ever had the normal Td3 in your hand and tested it? I have a question regarding the Td3 pots. The ones on my Td3 are very stiff (positive:) as they apparently are on the original Tb303. The ones on my Td3 MO, on the other hand, are rather smooth-running like the ones on my Pro 1. How do you feel about the Td3 pots compared to your Tb303?
@@gwEmbassy I assumed so. Nevertheless, it also has advantages because I think that you can adjust the last nuances in the sound with the smooth-running potentiometers by turning them minimally.
That was the best TD3-MO tutorial ever. thank you, cheers from France
you are welcome!!! happy it helps :)
@@gwEmbassy you're an acid hero. I also love the 303 pedal shoutouts and the acid jams x)
Fantastic walkthrough, thank you! 🙏
FYI: The effect of the muffler switch becomes way more noticeable at a higher Overdrive setting.
you are welcome, and thanks for the extra tip!!
This is IMMENSELY helpful thank you for going over it with examples. Not had enough time with my MO to really get in to it, yet. Thanks mate!
You’re welcome!
Excellent breakdown of the knobs & switches on this bad boy! Just ordered the newer black version of the MO. Thanks for a great vid! 👍 👏
pleased you enjoyed!!
I love how you make your acid in the kitchen
It’s the best place to make it!
Bathtub better for volume - hardfloor and eye-q ❤

Yes, it’s great the design will carry on. It clearly has its own unique sound, especially the accent!
Gwem, I love your videos immensely. Thanks for doing what you do.
Glad you like them!
Great walk-through, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Nice video mate. I’m currently sequencing the TD-3 with my cirklon. Now I want this bad boy
very cool sequencer!!

Flailing around in the dark works well! :) Shoutout to Robin Whittle indeed!
Thanks Gwen. I have the MO, but haven't really got into it yet. This is a good reference to look back on, for when I do.
Hope it’ll be useful
Great Video! Very helpful. Now I know how to treat my td3 mo right. Cause the knobs confused me a lot in the beginning.
Pleased you found it helpful, it was helpful for me too :)
Great walkthrough. Thanks
Pleased you found it useful!
Nice video Gwem! Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome Droids!
State of the art kitchen themed studio ..Love it man ..Great video .. I have a modded TD3 and have been on the fence with MO ...not anymore
pleased you found that useful!! :) :)
Thank you Sir! Best explanation I've seen on youtube so far and I've watched alot! Someone once asked if it was possible to get the same sound on the MO as on the OG TD 3...
Thanks for the compliment! As you saw, you can’t really get the MO to sound just like an original 303. But I think that’s the point!
Very useful! CAn you explain how working outs? filter, cv, acc gate etc. (higher part of front panel)
that would be a good idea idea

The overdrive is a bit different in the MO. To get that classic 303 distortion you need to use a pedal or drive a mixing desk.
@@gwEmbassy Thanks man, any recommended pedal or plug-in for that classic distortion?
@@gwEmbassy ?
Try a ProCo Rat or a Boss OS-2
Brilliant! Thanks so much for this - subbed 👍

Nice demo! Is acid house coming back? Sorry and I haven’t been keeping up with house music for about 22 years.
I love the term “Attack” bc that how it used to feel on the dance floor and dancing to these magnificent sounds and beats.
Reminds me of the old acid house song by Humanoids and I think called Stalker.
I think acid house is one of those styles that’s always around.
I think you are thinking of Humanoid by Stakker :)
HI, but between this and volca nubass - which do you like best? thanks
The Nubass
What mixer do you use?
That is a Boss BX800
@@gwEmbassy its looks very nice ✌️
I agree 😎

It’s meant for buildups in your track as you jam. I like that it’s a momentary switch as you can just engage it quickly when you need it.
great video as usual. wanna hear the td-3 MO through the dod caracosa :)
That’s a good idea for a video, I’ll make a note!

sick mixer. is that a Vespa or Tascam?
it’s a Boss mixer :)
@@gwEmbassy it looks like an old Vespa 4track I have. it's beautiful!
Excellent demo! - Can I ask what you are using to get the killer reverb ?
Yes, the reverb is killer! I am using the Boss RRV-10 for it.
I found it accidentally and it will now stay with me to the grave.
Love the reverb❤
Thank you but next time a camera looking over head at 303 would be WAY more helpful than sideview far off :)
I am accepting donations for an overhead camera rig ;)
👍
😎
u could at least turn around the camera
Not really practical considering the layout of my kitchen :(
This is very informative but too much resonance a lot of the time. My ears hurt.
