Interesting how the first part of the conversation is basically the same talk she had with Torchwick in Volume 3 The old ruby is still telling her about this romantic version of being a huntsmen and always saving the day and helping everyone. Meanwhile the modern Ruby has learned the same lessons that Roman had and understands that the world is cruel and not a fairy tale

It really sucks seeing her so defeated like this but I’m confident she’ll bounce back once her friends and sister give her a MUCH needed group therapy talk. I’m just anxiously hoping they don’t Put this off and wait till the last 2 episodes cause seriously she needs a hug asap.
We don't know the herbalist end goal. The cat was really adamant about ceasing her from seeing that conclusion. IT could be for nefarious reason but I highly doubt he is banking on her depression atm

This is heartbreaking. Here’s my resolution, what I would tell her…. 💩 happens. Sometimes people die, make the wrong choices, or we simply fail. Pyrrha rushed in blind, Penny put herself and the relics at risk, and Summer challenged Salem. They knew the risk, what was at stake, and fought. It was their best. Your best. You never gave up on people. Not when Ironwood went screw loose, not when Grimm flooded Beacon, not when you learned Salem couldn’t be killed. You’ve been a guiding light. hope. Perhaps it’s time you found your own guiding light. After all, we’re only human. No one ever said it would be easy, nor without hardships. No one is infallible, no one is without fault. Anyone saying otherwise is really selling something. But I find people in these situations can find hope in anything or anyone. You give that up, then Salem’s already won. Don’t give up. And don’t let yourself carry it all on your own. And never lose sight of yourself. (wow. that was more emotional than I thought. I should be a writer.)

She’s on her knees, defeated, broken, and on the verge of losing faith/hope. The shame and guilt on her face after losing so many. She's beginning to understand the true meaning of Suffering. But that's technically a good thing. Ruby has every right to question other people's choices and also has every right to question her own choices. She's growing up. Ruby’s starting to understand that everything in life is unpleasant, everything about life is suffering. That's the Truth. We've all been through there We all fail, we all make mistakes, it's what makes us human.
Finally, some character development Ruby desperately needed! Not "everything in life" is unpleasant. That's an overly pessimistic view of the world. Joy, happiness, love, etc. Positive emotions and positive feelings. They all exist, you can't deny that. As does beauty in nature/the world around us. Yes, suffering, death, torture, brutality, ugliness, trauma, disgust and injustice also exist, but these elements co-exist. It's not completely one or the other.
I have big hopes they'll be getting a redesign considering how significantly different everything is. The location, the theme, and most probably the state of where the characters are. I mean a design reflects the character most, so i'm expecting that we will be moving on from the Atlas-trained Battle-ready Ruby to something that fits more of her currently... and let's be real, going to Vacuo in an attire that's specifically made for dreadfully cold weather is going to be a big pain. But it's just my hopes.

Especially after she declared war on them? If she summons them back I guarantee you they’ll come up with another method to screw her over even more and even if they destroy the planet how does she know that’ll kill her? Remember she was disintegrated with Oscars attack in the whale. There’s honestly a very good chance she’ll end up like Kars from Jojo if she gets what she wants.
This scene and how it ended made me very suspicious of the Curious Cat and what his intentions really are. Why did he stop Ruby from giving in? Was it for her sake, to keep the story going, or for some other unknown reason?

Ruby needs to face the music and find the resolve within her. If she can't find the strength no matter the odds, then she will continue to struggle and be weak. Which Salem will take advantage of that.

This scene breaks my heart for Ruby. And the worst part is...everything that has happened on Remnant is basically true. Two of the four Relics are in the wrong hands, Salem is closer to achieving her goal, and it all comes down to the outcome of Volume 10. Will there be a Rosegarden? Can Ruby master her Silver Eyes before facing Cinder in all-for-nothing brawl? And most importantly, what's to become of Raven while she's still hiding out and in full possession of her Maiden powers? And speaking of which...what will it take for Cinder to die when the Maiden powers are transferred to another host?

Maybe he wasn't necessarily doing it to help ruby but stopping the herbalist from doing whatever he was doing because it wasn't his purpose?
