@@SharePointMaven Thanks for the reply. What's the best resource you've found for getting questions answered for Sharepoint Development. I looked thru all of your videos. When I have very targeted questions, what resource would you recommend? Is StackOverflow, for example, a good resource for Sharepoint devs? Any recommendations appreciated.
Hi SharePoint Marven, which other web parts did you use in top of page, like "Message from our CEO" I really liked that and want to use same in my page.
Hi. Thank you for the wonderful video. But can i ask something. In the group calendar, why I can't see other 365 groups in the drop down option. thank you in advance.
If the group was created from Teams - it won't show. Read this: techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams-ama/why-the-teams-calendar-not-visible-in-outlook/m-p/300155
Is the group calendar having an e-mail? We wsnt to use it to dusplay upcoming trainings. The idea is to "invite" that calendar as a participant so that the entry appears on the site abd other people besides the actual trainees can join with the link provided in the invite if the time suit them
Hi! My Group Calendar refuses to render in Outlook. I have a number of group calendars that don’t appear in the “Groups” section in Outlook. Team sites created as a result of a new Team don’t render their respective calendars in Outlook. Is this a known bug, do you know? It’s very frustrating. I need the Outlook calendar to use with the Group Cal webpart, and it just refuses to operate properly. Help!
Hi Laura, this is frustrating indeed and is "by design". If you create a new Group from SharePoint or Outlook, it will show up, but if you create it from Teams - it won't. You have to use PowerShell to render it in Outlook. More info here: techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams-ama/why-the-teams-calendar-not-visible-in-outlook/m-p/300155
I had an idea to create a SPO calendar web part and post it on a communication site. In the background, i can create calendar events which would normally appear on communications site. I wanted also to share this calendar with a group of colleagues. it worked. but everyone can edit. and i could not change permissions. Is this related to my permissions in organization? and if i cannot update permissions, can i at least connect SPO calendar web part to an existing calendar that i created which i can work with its permissions? Thank you
The SP Calendar inherits permissions from the site. So if you only want a few people to edit the events, you need to create unique permissions for the calendar (by going to List permissions) and tweaking it.
@@SharePointMaven Thank you. My issue: I wanted to make the Outlook calendar (which is connected to SPO Calendar) permissions as read only and share outlook events to a group that's has RO permissions. I.e. the created events would show in group's members once you add a new event on SPO. But i couldn't. When you connect from SPO to Outlook The calendar created is under "Other Calendars" group and permissions are disabled. is there a way to enable? or is there a way to connect from SPO to a calendar under "My Calendars" where it's possible to control permissions? Thanks Again Sir.

Hi Greg, i have been a silent follower of your channel a, nd learnt lot of topics from this channel. thank you very much for that. but now i want to break the silence and ask you is there anyway to sync outlook web application (OWA) in communication site, since most of my users use OWA instead of outlook desktop application.
Hi Greg! I have to say that I've learned lot by just watching your videos and we are now using the classic SharePoint Calendar. I wanted to prevent people to delete the events created by other users, and I managed it from Permissions List. So nobody can delete any events when they use the calendar over SharePoint, but people can still delete events over their Outlook if they choose to sync this calendar. Do you know any methods to prevent it? Thanks!
My pleasure, Zeki. Thanks for the feedback! I have not tested that scenario, but that is strange. Permissions should also be honored even if sync'd to Outlook. Are you sure about that. Again, I have not tested this, but would find it strange that it still allows that.
@@SharePointMaven yes, it’s strange indeed but i was expecting you to say that “yea, sharepoint classic have some defects like that” but anyways, i’ll try again and keep reading SharePoint Maven. That’s wonderful work!

new subscriber. thanks for this video. nice and simple explanation that the MSFT docs don't dare cover. just what I needed as a new Sharepoint dev.
Thank you, Mitch, for becoming my follower - happy to hear you found this video helpful

Hero Web Part
Is there a way to show the "Old" style of a calendar on the 'home' site? My co-workers don't like the new look (event or group calendar).
No, not possible. I have seen people embed HTML pages, but does not look good at all as old calendar is classic

Is it possible to sync multiple Outlook calendars in the calendar web part (as opposed to just the one affiliated group calendar)?
No, just 1. You will need to add additional group calendar web parts for others
Thanks Maven. Do you know what "Aggregated Business Calendar" Features does ?
Never heard about it

Yes, the M365 Group has an email/distribution list
Thanks for the vid. Do you know if its possible to display a calendar from a shared mailbox not associated with the group?
No, not possible. If you want to display a calendar in SharePoint, it has to be tied to the M365 Group.

I have an outlook calendar displaying past event of onpy 6 months, Can we change this?
I am not aware of the solution
Can I turn an existing list into an events list so it can be displayed using the events web part?
No. Events Web Part is for classic calendar only at the moment
