Hi, came here to learn about the overlay. Can you add a new event from the main calendar though? It seems like a pain to find specific calendars to add events to just to see it on the main calendar.. Can you also get rid of the fields that you don't need (such as time, add your own category, repeating event, etc.)?
SharePoint and the way they do their calendars goes the way of the dinosaur. They haven't changed it in over a decade. Why it's the same who knows. I can only suggest if you need to do that with a calendar and don't necessarily need to do it in SharePoint use your Outlook Calendars. It can do what you're asking.
I'm trying to add a calendar overlay; I enter the URL in the URL field and verify it, i get "Unable to find specified web in the given URL". Microsoft says this means "calendar overlays from one SharePoint Online site collection to another aren't supported", but i know someone else was able to get this to work. Could you help?
As far as I know, that can't be done. I assume you don't remember who you thought was able to figure this out. Out of the box it can't be done. Is there a way around things? In a lot of cases just in this case, I don't know how to do it.
Not exactly sure what you're asking here. Did you only want the work week to show? Did you need them highlighted a certain way? What exactly were you thinking?
We did that when I worked at the VA. You can build your calendar for each room and then link them to the main page if you want. I'll do a video this coming weekend. You gave me the idea.
Go to where you would see your calendars. Click on the tab at the top titled "calendar". You'll want to click on "Calendars Overlay". The link will bring you to all the calendars you have for that overlay. Click on the one you want to change the color for. There you'll see a drop-down where it gives you a choice of colors. If you're talking about changing the color choices from the colors available then you're talking about changing the CSS and that would be more complicated. I haven't touched on CSS for Sharepoint in any of my previous videos. That may be a good idea for a future video for this channel.
How to remove start and end time in calendar it's showing along with username
You can make it an all day event. There's a check box when you schedule that allows that. Let me know if that's what you're looking for.
Thank you!! you jogged my memory!😊

What are you thinking? Like from an Excel Document? What would you be uploading it from?

Hi Christopher, do you know how to add work week in the SharePoint calendar?

How about calendar of a room or another person ?
I have rooms and I want everyone to know the events of all the 'rooms' on one calendar.
We did that when I worked at the VA. You can build your calendar for each room and then link them to the main page if you want. I'll do a video this coming weekend. You gave me the idea.
@@mymediahelperThank you very much
How can you use different colors in the overlays?

@@mymediahelper thanks for your help. Changing the CSS is what I was looking for, I understand. I wish there was an easier way/more color options.
How to rename, add, remove columns in Calendar?
That's a great question. You'll want to go to the calendar settings to do that. I will make a video of that this weekend.
