  • Cirencester, Medieval market town. Cirencester, the largest town in the Cotswolds. With a population of over 20,000 and lots of shops, especially antique shops and cafes, Cirencester is a charming spot to sit back of a morning and read the Sunday papers while the tolling of the bells of St. John the Baptist parish church do their ring-a-ding best.
To walk around Cirencester is much more interesting for the people watcher (or snooper) than the smaller Cotswold towns and villages where most of the people you might see are those posing for selfies in front of a medieval bridge over a medieval duck pond.
And, sure enough, there's a fair smidgen of traffic but nothing like that which flows through Burford and Stow. The city centre, where this was filmed, is not the place you go for birdsong and gentle breezes, it has more of the feeling of human buzz. People coming and going. And markets pop up here every once in a while.

This was really creative. The view from a dogs perspective is very different from what we are used to seeing. I really like this idea. Cirencester looks like an interesting place. The architecture is wonderful. St John's The Baptist is a really beautiful church. It was a great image looking out through the archway, into the street. There are many wonderful shops and lots of activity. It was a nice day for your tour. Thank you for bringing us along.

Thank you. I like the activity too. The woman putting out chairs, the people sitting outside the coffee bars. The other dogs, which I noticed more in the video as I did start to feel that I was one of them. The camera was at an angle where it must have looked like I was some loony taking his camera for a walk. I would have liked to go into the church but there was a service on so I beat a swift retreat. As usual, thank you for the support.

Thanks a lot. With things like this, it can look okay or kind of stupid. I'm glad that you enjoyed it. High and low angles can somehow give us a nice little altered perspective. I like the town a lot and wanted to see it a different way. Cheers.

Cirencester is such a beautiful place, and what a lovely way to view it from an unusual & unique perspective, everything looks so much bigger & imposing! Well & nicely done, Jago. All the best to you. OAAW

Thank you very much. I think it has its benefits and losses. The benefit is that seeing anything from a different perspective makes things look somehow more vital. We used to have a television quiz show called 'Ask the Family' which I only watched because it had a sequence where you saw a familiar household object from an angle which made it look completely unfamiliar. This always gave me a strange kind of buzz. I normally hate seeing the cars in my videos thinking of them as unwelcome obstacles but here, from this angle, they reflect the sky and their form seems to shimmer. The loss is that I wasn't actually walking at knee height so there is some loss of visual control (which might also be a good thing).

Thanks for that. I am happy that you enjoyed it. I must have looked a proper idiot while I was making it. What we do for art.

I have always wondered what a dog sees. Rather interesting perspective, but a great view. Thanks for sharing this beautiful walk around the church at Cirencester.
