Man, that was brilliant. Getting a 1025R with R4s delivered in a couple days. Very concerned about snow traction and my wife's reaction when I say I need to buy new tires out of the gate. You guys solved my problem.

My guess on how the tire groover works is that the blade is also a filament that heats up. When you pull the trigger, the electric current runs thru the blade allowing it to instantly heat up. I'm sure that it took a sec or two to completely cool off after letting go of the trigger, but you get the point.. Brilliant idea..
Looks to be another worth while investment. Watching the snow roll and tumble on that pusher is just the coolest thing. Another interesting video. I love how you think outside the box instead of just throwing money at the problem.
Wow that brings back some great childhood memories!! My two buddies who I grew up next door to had to groove big tires for their dad during the summer. He made a living and raised 4 kids just by grooving tires.. During the summer we’d all jump in and help them so they could get done quicker and go ride bikes around the neighborhood!! Lol Fun times!! Over 35 years ago.. Wow.. Great video @Stan.. Stay blessed !!
I bought a mini version of this tool and siped the mud tires I had for my truck several years ago. I did it in my nice warm kitchen when my (now ex) wife was out and made the entire house reek of burning rubber. See was really happy when she came home. ;)
I absolutely love them Arctic push boxes you have they are beautiful I can't believe how clean they make the asphalt roll that beautiful footage look how the snow just rolls over that that bank that is beautiful

Something to keep in mind, is that as you reduce the amount of rubber in contact with the ground, you also increase the amount of wear on the rubber that is left. Hence why dirt/construction tires have such blocky designs, they are designed for longevity in rough conditions. But since you are using it primarily for snowplowing, where traction is more important than thread wear, it is a good trade-off, since more traction means faster work, and faster work means more money in the long run. 😁

I did this to the R4 tires on my tractor and it works great. Works even better if you don't run the tires at max pressure when you're not really loading them much beyond raising the blade. Get just a little flex in the side of the tire so it's not so hard and they'll grip like glue! (Same for the tires on your trucks...) BTW, my $100 grooving iron works almost as well as your $500 tool, so I feel pretty good about that... :)

I don't know the exact design of that tool but on my groover I can use the blades for grooving to sipe the tires as well by installing the blades upside down in the tool. So don't throw away your old blades if you're able to reuse them in your tool upside down.
Neat! Those turned out surprisingly well. I'd say that's a win even if you factor in labor! Especially with this weather if you're just looking for stuff for the guys to do!
i have been looking at getting one of those tire groovers. i siped the front tires of my kubota with a box cutter, took me 45 min a tire (DM for pics). sipes really helped the traction. the tractor came with R1s and they totally suck in the snow. i can't use chains either, i spend a lot of time backing up steep driveways throwing snow, so the fronts were my priority (plus much cheaper to replace if it was a total fail). just the sipes made a noticeable improvement. will be grooving the rears before next season.
very cool.. if you sipe also it would significantly improve the traction in winter. some tools you can flip the cutter over, the u shaped head and have 2 straight cuts per pass. or they probably sell a siper head. snow sticks to snow. the best winter tires have tons of sipes, along with softer compound. but ya the price for having 2 sets of tires for summer and winter. maybe lower air pressure too a bit.. a grinder also to freshen up before sipping. it gets the glaze off. sipping is faster then grooving also. you can also do to skid steers. love the channel thanks for the good content.. big fan. Siping tires helps a ton too. On my tool I just put the cutting tool in the gun in the opposite direction so it cuts two sipes instead of a groove. I would dare say siping helps just as much or more than the grooves... Definitely helps more on glare ice. I sipe my pickup tires and the difference is remarkable.
Stan those new groves definitely helped guess what you can now do if you have a flat snow tire on one of your wheeled skids you can toss groves in the stock R4 industrial tires and use it as a spare tire when a tire shop is closed
@@Dirtmonkey no problem Stan and if you get new tires for the sledge which you might want to cause where you are probably having tire leaks is where the tread and side wall meet inside the tire my mom had that happen 8 times on 8 different tires and they can’t be fixed in that area of the tire these cracks on the inside look like what dry rotted tires look like on the outside once you get these cracks you are constantly putting air in them

They use to have company's that would come out to the used car lots and grind the tire down and make new treads for them right on the car. Costumers thought they were getting new tires. Guess that was like the 60's Tires had a lot more rubber, didn't have the compounds they have now.
That is the same thing we use for our race cars. I have a 2 handed heated siper we should try on your tires for next year. I have 3 different sipers and grooving irons. I do this to my skidsteer tires and it doubles the life of the tires
Siping, grooving or both. It will work for the tracks also. Don't be afraid to sipe both ways. Across the tires (forward traction) and around (side to side bite).

Hey Stan hey Sam hood job on the tire grooving we use to get our forklift ls done and the smaller blades are for smallest tires he use to use two sizes bigger for big front wheel and smaller for the rear tyres 👍
Its all a balance of lbs per square inch of tread on the ground, adding the grooves increased the weight per sq inch and increased the traction with more area to claw in.
Truck tires have entirely different siping requirements. I would have done that in stages, first simply put the single parallel zig-zag groove pattern across each stock lug. That would have cut the time down. A lot of the benefit comes from the fresh sharp edges. Your investment will allow you to freshen that up when needed.

Im going to try it on a set of dirt tracks and see if it works for snow
Siping, grooving or both. It will work for the tracks also. Don't be afraid to sipe both ways. Across the tires (forward traction) and around (side to side bite).
Did something similar on my Kubota TLB. Definitely helped on ice/hard pack. No help in mud.
Nice one Stan 👍👍👍🏴🏴🏴
Thanks Tony
I actually looked at one of these used it’s bigger then the one you have perfect snow machine for sure and price was right
Was it new or used? How much did they want for it?
@@Dirtmonkey it s barely used 140hours on it it’s an lg 938L $64,000 it’s literally like new little bigger then yours I think
@@Dirtmonkey sdlg was written on the side of it as the manufacturer and the guy told me Volvo loader parts I think are interchangeable
Glad to hear you and Sam enjoy the old muscle cars and when the muscle left to did the class act they use to be. Got a loose fender flare on the driver side there Sam, might want to check it out so it doesn’t scratch that fender.
LOVE old muscle cars but also really enjoying the NEW version of the classics as well.
@@Dirtmonkey admittedly the new version does have some muscle to them and the styling I think looks good, glad to see a resurgence in the classics
Stan, I saw this on your instagram post, it was really cool with the results that you got. Hop your re doing good. It is pourin down rain here in south jersey. I hope frankly has gotten a little better. The good news is that he will have hi antibody so if he does get sick again from the flu or cold. It wont really hinder him from working.my mom and dad went and got their second COVID shot yesterday. They are fine and dandy. And for dinner tonight we had Wendy’s. I got the baconator combo with a large frie and a drink. I got a 100 on My math test yesterday so today we went out for a treat. Had roast beef yesterday. So tomorrow we are going to their Columbus market and i am gonna get my usual, fruit smoothie. Cheesesteak pretzel, and a regular pretzel, made by the Amish. By hand and all fresh. Best place in the whole world. Anyone that reads this has to come. Top Burlington county NJ and on Route 206 in Columbus NJ it is located. The pizza place there. Petes pizza is so dammm good. Stan and friends. If time and money allow, I recommend come down to NJ. Anyway, Stan, you and everyone else have a great night. From your pal Alexander costa😉👊🏼🙏🏼
Cranky Franky is slowly feeling better and getting happy again haha., Congrats on your Math test! 100! thats awesome! It raining here right now- has been all day. Kind of miserable. Cold and wet but tomorrow the sun is supposed to come out. That will help dry everything up.
I did city buses learned to sharpen them up with a hone. Did a lot of those tires in my day
Hey Stan hey Sam hood job on the tire grooving we use to get our forklift ls done and the smaller blades are for smallest tires he use to use two sizes bigger for big front wheel and smaller for the rear tyres 👍
I think we are trying do a set of skid steer tracks next.
@@Dirtmonkey like to see that video Stan 👍
love it. I have one my dad used for truck tires. Unfortunately, we can no longer do that. in Denmark
can you still use it on agriculture equipment? or off road applications/
@@Dirtmonkey yes. under 40 km/h
Crazy how you guys got the snow we were gonna get over here in Wisconsin lol
This winter has been one weird event after another.
@@Dirtmonkey oh tell me bout it...
Thanks for the shout out!! Stay safe
You bet
Its all a balance of lbs per square inch of tread on the ground, adding the grooves increased the weight per sq inch and increased the traction with more area to claw in.
Truck tires have entirely different siping requirements. I would have done that in stages, first simply put the single parallel zig-zag groove pattern across each stock lug. That would have cut the time down. A lot of the benefit comes from the fresh sharp edges. Your investment will allow you to freshen that up when needed.
Great point!
We do the same thing to our race car tires for better traction never thought about doing it on heavy equipment 👍🏻👍🏻
Im glad this worked out. I didn't think it would but yeah! wow. That was cool
Awesome! Thanks for shout-out brother! Keep up the great work and hopefully I can do a custom floor coating or an Overlay for you some day 👍
You bet! Your invited up anytime.
@@Dirtmonkey Thanks!
God bless you Stan Princess bride one of my favorite movies we quote it almost everyday on jobsites! And the three Amegos ha ha we pruned the hedges of many small villages 😆
👊 Nice!
Very cool! I have never seen this done. Cooper has a new snow tire coming out called the snow claw. They may have come out this month. My dump trucks motor is shot. Mechanic said major internal damage
My dump truck motor went out a few years ago- I had an inframe overhaul done- cost me $10,000. nothing is cheap in construction.
@@Dirtmonkey i welded a new bottom in the bed of mine and re did the sides, lined the inside of the bed with new metal. Cab had lots of ventilation holes with rust trim and foot cooling holes in floor boards hahaha those were next. Not anymore!
A foxbody dressed up in the JDM style actually looks really good
catfish camaro - you guys crack me up hahaha! always enjoying your videos! It's fresh stuff and for the consumer!
Glad you like them!
